Thank you for a lovely friendly welcome Ernesto 😄. We enjoyed our 3 night break and if we visit Lyndhurst again, will stay at the Rufus House. For people reading this review, if you like peace and quiet book a rear bedroom. Breakfast was cooked perfectly no complaints whatsoever.

Lovely guest house just 2 minutes walk from centre of Lyndhurst and opposite, across the road is the open New Forest, complete with its ponies, cows and donkeys. It is on the main A35 and we had a ground floor front en suite bedroom, you can hear the traffic, but we didn't find the road noise too bad and we... More

Stayed here for two nights whilst we explored the New Forest, good location and within a minutes walk to the village of lydenhurst. Our booking was a little last minute so we ended up with a small twin room, on the top floor with two small single beds. Room was cosy, headroom not great, and reasonably well equipped, perhaps a... We stayed here last week to celebrate my husbands 60th birthday. The owners were amazingly friendly and so helpful. The room we had was at the back of the hotel and was very peaceful and light and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was very good and freshly cooked to order.the location is superb for all parts of the New Forest. We would... More

Yet another superb stay at the Rufus in Lyndhurst as guests of Ernesto and Etsuko. We were so fortunate to stumble across this excellent b&b of such character a few years ago in a convenient place for all the many attractions of "the Capital of the Forest". Our favourite restaurant, La Pergola, is almost next door! Breakfast, featuring tasty Forest... More

What a delightful little hotel! It is a Victorian house with its own little quirks. Etsuko and Eduardo could not have been nicer or more helpful. When I reported a blown lightbulb in my room they were on it in an instant. The top floor of the turret is a lovely little lounge. I was there in high summer, but... More

Looking for a two night stay during the first weekend of July in the New Forest is not an easy task. I found Rufus House, a few hundred meters from Lyndhurst on the A35 and was quite happy with the choice. Very clean, although not very large, and quite (choose rooms on the garden side, because of the A35) .... More

We spent two nights here escaping from a not very nice Airbnb booking! It was so lovely to relax in such a beautiful hotel. There were lovely touches throughout the hotel and the owner was so friendly and helpful. Excellent breakfast. Everywhere read spotlessly clean. Can't recommend it highly enough.
