We stayed here for 2 nights to celebrate our anniversary. The location of the hotel couldn’t have been better both to walk into the village or to travel to other local areas. The hotel itself had great decor, very helpful and friendly staff and we had a great bedroom with a really comfortable queen size bed. The breakfast was plentiful and gluten free options available. We had a meal one night in the restaurant and both the presentation and the food itself were great.

Nice hotel but miss information form the check in staff . Sadly we booked the hotel as it had a good dinner menu. When we checked in we were told it was fully booked . We asked where to go and we’re recommended a few places they either stopped serving food at 7.30 or were closed . We were also told the bus comes every 20 mins the bus only comes once an hour !

Our experience with the staff was very good, they were very helpful and eager to assist. We ate in the restaurant for one night of our 3 night stay and probably wish we had reserved a table for at least one more night but due to staff shortages it wasn’t possible. I had the duck confit terrine to start followed by the belly of pork which was outstanding. To finish was the best chocolate fondant I’ve ever had. Breakfast was a buffet and again great quality. The room, however was a severe let down hence only 3 stars. I wish we could separate the reviews. At nearly £175/night we got a poky little room overlooking a pitched roof that was so stuffy and airless we had to request a fan. It was only 15 degrees outside so what it’s like in summer is unthinkable. Only one window opened as the other side was nailed shut I think. Some sort of machine rumbled throughout the night so even by the third night neither of us slept well. The bathroom was well finished, apart from missing a blind but it was very long and narrow. We just felt we had better rooms for less money elsewhere.

The food is always good and the staff helpful and friendly. They now have a locally brewed beer that is very good called Pig! The locality of the hotel makes it easy to explore the New Forest and the coast.

We spent 3 nights at the hotel to tour the New Forest and catch up with local friends. The hotel oozes charm and quality. Lovely feel to the public rooms and brilliant service from the staff. Attractive garden to sit and enjoy a drink. Buffet breakfast but (unusually) they manage to keep the food fresh and hot. Will definitely be back
