My mum and I stayed here for two nights in the week. We booked through secret escapes and got a twin room with spa access and a free bottle of wine at a good price - would definitely recommend! Our room was lovely, very spacious and the beds were so comfy. They even had a choice of pillows for the fussy sleepers (me)! Fresh milk and cold water dispensers in the corridor are such a good idea and a great way to avoid waste. I don’t drink dairy but asked at reception for some alternative milk to take to the room and I was offered a great choice (soya, oat, coconut and almond) and it was sorted immediately. We did have to chase up our free bottle of rose on arrival but the staff were apologetic and brought it up to the room with an ice bucket. The spa facilities are great, and we definitely appreciated the adult only times as it was school holidays. Free tea and coffee in the spa was an added bonus, and we both had treatments which were excellent. All the staff we encountered were so friendly and happy to help. We did have a slightly chaotic lunch in the restaurant, but the food was great. I was a little disappointed that the outside bar wasn’t open but that is fair enough given the weather! The breakfast was fantastic, very organised and a great choice. Overall, a very lovely relaxing stay and we left wishing we’d booked for longer!…
Just arrived at the Solent hotel and spa for a family break. Asked to pay and extra £25 to use the family pool as reception feel this is detailed clause in the Expedia policy for their hotel. We actually booked via hotels.com and despite showing reception my phone where this policy was not stated reception insisted that this was the case and we had to pay to use the pool. Also reception checked with management twice who sat in the office and did not come out to talk to us. We decided to pay as do not like confrontation and the arguing the £25 was eating into kids pool time. The hotel does not know their own policy, puts £25 before service and management clearly are not interested in talking to their guests during a dispute. Disappointing!
We stayed in a family room for one night. When we booked we were told it wasn’t newly decorated and I took that to mean it was a bit out of date or shabby. Reviews on here didn’t do much to help my worries!! It was blooming lovely! Front of house staff were friendly and helpful, our room was clean and comfy. Room wasn’t massive but big enough for a short stay. The kids (5 and 8) had bunk beds because they can’t share a sofa bed, these were a good size and very comfy. Lovely touch to have a cookie and activity set for them both. In the morning we called reception and we’re delivered childrens robes within 5 minutes. Their robes and ours were really good quality, super soft and didn’t feel like they had been worn a million times as you find in some spa’s. The hotel and grounds are really beautiful- spa and gym were fantastic I wish we had been able to make more of it. We didn’t eat at the hotel - walked 5 mins up the road to the shopping mall -but the restaurant was very attractive with a good menu and lovely outdoor space. Nice bar with a good selection of wines. We will definitely be back!!…
keep going in here as it has all the ingredients to be exceptional however seems to be so disorganised front of house and every time i go in and stand by the bar i will be ignored or other customers will be. I understand if people are busy but just an acknowledgement will do. 20 mins today without anyone even being at the bar, bar two managers walking past chatting and ignore me and another customer.
We booked The Solent Hotel for one night prior to a cruise from Southampton and we really enjoyed our stay. Check in was speedy and friendly and our booked room turned out to be a lovely 2 room mini suite with seperate sitting area. Included parking was spacious with available spaces even though the hotel was busy. Breakfast the next morning was really good with friendly service and a good choice, we were lucky that we had time to spare making it relaxing. Sadly, due to catching Covid in New York and having to isolate before flying home instead of sailing back we were a few days late collecting our car, we had managed to contact the hotel and the response was superb. So refreshing and heart warming to receive such good customer service. This will be our go to hotel if we travel again from Southampton or Portsmouth because of the professional and friendly service. …
we checked in with no problems at all until I tried to tell the receptionist that my brother was getting married and that they had pre booked a private area for breakfast so I wouldn’t need to be allocated a time as we were included in the party. The lady was quite abrupt and kind of said what ever and ignored what I had just said to her. I asked if there was anything to know about the pool area as we had our 3yr old daughter with us so would be using the facilities again no information relayed just that it was round the corner! so this morning we went down for breakfast with the wedding party and popped in to the spar quickly just to look at the pool as my daughter was over excited. we where then told by the lady in the spa that children were not allowed in the pool after 11am!! This was not relayed to us at any stage of our checking in process or any of our documents. I went round to reception to ask to speak to the manager only to be told by someone that it is what it is and choose what’s more important, breakfast or swimming!! I was disgusted to be spoken and treated like this considering I had paid nearly £300. I expect the basic information to be passed on to guests. obviously my Daughters happiness is more important so we had to rush in to the pool area and luckily got 30 mins of swim time before we had to get out. We lost money on the breakfast as we had pre booked it with our booking and . I would not stay at this hotel again based on what we have experienced Such a shame to sign off on a lovely wedding experience…
Brilliant stay. Dinner, bed, breakfast & spa trip. Arriving on a Monday we managed to check in a little early. When we reached the room it was well appointed with everything you could need. Nice touch to have a refill station for milk & water with the clean glass bottles in the in-room fridge. We headed to the pool but due to a aqua aerobic class we couldn’t use the pool. Wish the receptionist had let us know! The steam room and jacuzzi were also out of order due to issues but sometimes these things can’t be helped. Lovely outdoor bar with ample seating. We had dinner and I have to say it was delightful, flavourful and with staff who really enjoy delivering great customer service. Massive shout out to Bella, she smashed it! The spa treatment was lovely as was the afternoon tea, although not the traditional ‘finger’ sandwiches we were pleasantly surprised and would say they’ve got the balance completely right. Will definitely be returning! One final note to the hotel I didn’t get to mention on my stay, the 3rd floor WiFi signal is particularly weak, possibly just need another couple of wireless access points.…
What an amazing stay we had. Came as a couple but the hotel easily caters for families, groups of friends and business people. Check in was lovely. Room was brilliant with all the little touches. Food was great at dinner breakfast and the afternoon tea. Spa treatment was perfect. Shame some of the facilities were out of order but that didn’t matter to our experience. Will definitely come again. Bella in the restaurant was lovely even got me some daquiris
1 night stay before boarding a cruise. Lovely, clean room with fluffy white dressing gowns and slippers. We didn't use the spa but the breakfast in the morning was lovely. We also left the car for the 14 nights of the cruise which was handy. The taxi to and from the port was £20-£25 each way and took about 20 minutes. They could do with a little more signage as there are roadworks leading up to the hotel and roundabout!
Stayed for 1 night on a stay and leave your car package. Lovely hotel, large clean room, staff very friendly and helpful. Large variety of breakfast food, well cooked and plentiful. Would recommend to anyone. Thank you.
