We had a great stay all the staff were really friendly and welcoming, lovely court yard to sit out in the sunshine with a drink, nice comfy beds and clean rooms the breakfast was delicious with lots to choose from, we will definitely be back. And Thankyou for the extra touch of birthday balloons banners and card.
Traditional style pub, food was fantastic could not fault it at all. the staff were very friendly, smiley, found this uplifting, rather than the normal “I really don’t want to be here”service that unfortunately I have experienced in many eateries.
It was nice to find a very large car park upon arrival at the hotel (free for guests), and the staff were without exception extremely helpful and friendly, and made me feel very welcome. My room, although old and up a few flights of "quaint old stairs" (the building is delightfully ancient) , was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Dinner in the restaurant surprised me pleasantly, delicious food from a nice varied menu, and at a very reasonable price. Breakfast was excellent too with a nice selection from the buffet / full English breakfast again at a competitive price.
The hotel is nice a bit dated in furniture and lack of plug sockets but very clean the room could do with black out curtains or netting you get the sun all day so the room is very hot you have a fan in your room. The bed is very comfy king size bed,few stains on the carpet like i said bit dated. We had breakfast highly recommend it well worth the money. The pub side is a bit dated as well, the staff are really friendly polite very helpful. We would come here again. That burger and chips is a kids meal. So come on Green King get your hands in your pockets and up date it
Booked in for an overnight stay as we had an early start in the area the next morning. Very friendly, helpful receptionist, as were the rest of the staff we encountered. A large, clean room and en-suite, plenty of tea and coffee, and a king-size bed made for a comfortable stay. Only bad point was that there were no bedside power sockets. Ate in the restaurant and the food was the usual Greene King fayre and was of a good standard, we both enjoyed our meals. Did have a little gripe that it had no Abbot ale, but guessed there was no market for it, hence the range of “chemical” beers it sold. Overall we would use the hotel again, if needed, as it was very good value.
We have just come back from a 2 night stay at The Bear in Havant, we absolutely fell in love with the place and will be returning very soon. The reception lady was lovely and really friendly and made us feel welcome straight away. Our room was spotless and cozy and the bed was massive and very comfy. We ate all our meals in the restaurant and all of them were delicious with a good choice, the restaurant staff were really lovely too and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is very close to the town with a good choice of shops and also close to the station.we had such a lovely time and would like to say thank you to all the lovely staff
Hired the hall for a 40th party. They let me in early to decorate the hall, which was clean and tables were already laid out for me. The staff was lovely and was very helpful. Was nice to have a seating area out of the main hall for people to sit and be able to talk . Would definitely recommend. They let everyone know when last orders where so people could get a drink . There were plenty of staff behind the bar , they were on top of collecting glass and brought the food out when was asked, they laid it out all nice . Would have another party here again .
The room was far too hot more like a sauna radiator could not be turned down despite mentioning to staff. It was made almost impossible to sleep as we were just sweating with the heat. Receptionist just said open the window or use the fan , this made very little difference
My daughter arranged a surprise party for my 60th birthday at The Bear Hotel Havant. She and my daughter-in-law visited the hotel a couple of months before to arrange all details. Party room hired until midnight with our own music and hotel catering. Cost £400 which my daughter paid from her own savings as currently at Uni. All started well and then at 1030 the manager closed the bar. Nobody in the party room was asked if any more drinks needed or advised bar was closing. When my daughter went to check this, as at least another £500 would have been spent at the bar, she was told bluntly that the bar closed at 1030 no further reason given At 11pm two staff came into the party room and started taking down our decorations My daughter went to speak to the manager again and was told the room was only booked until 11pm and we need to leave. My daughter pointed out that the room was hired until midnight but the manager said that would only occur if the hotels own disco was used which cost a further £200 !!! The two staff continued to clear up - even at one point turning on the main lights!!!! We continued to party and we’re told we had overstayed our welcome and drink up and leave. When we had gathered all our coats and things we were sent outside to the car park to wait in the cold for our taxis This was my 60th. I have been very ill for a long time and not been able to see my family or friends much at all. This evening organised by my wonderful daughter was marred at the end by rude, stubborn, uncaring staff and a manager who seemed unable at any time to control her staff - unless they are told to act that way which would be hugely worse. I definitely DO NOT recommend this hotel for venue use or accommodation as most our guest staying at The Bear Hotel Havant have complained about the state of their rooms.…
My niece booked a room for a surprise party for my sister. After telling her when she booked that we could have it till 12 o’clock at 10.30 we were told the bar was closed and then at 11.00 we’re told we had to stop the music. The staff were incredibly rude and I felt so sorry for my niece as she is at Uni and only 22 and had laid out a lot of money for her mum. Also some of our family had to get Ubers but were told to wait outside for them!! Absolutely awful to be treated like this. Rooms were not up to standard either, shower heads falling off and no black out curtains so up at dawn with the sun steaming in!!! Checked out the next day.
