Fantastic old pub, fab bubbly service, really friendly staff, mussels were tasty & lovely, best I have had! Food plentiful, chips, bread served with the mussels. Ceaser salad looked very appetising, and recommended by my dad. Definitely going return for another special occasion. Best pub food ever had!

Arrived here looking for supper on a wet Monday, and what a find! A great pint of Harveys, mussels and ribs to die for, and extra helpings on offer from a great host Arnie and his lovely wife. The ambiance, the food and the beer are a true tribute to Arnie, and is something that you simply must experience when...

stayed here last month as we were attending a concert at Bedgebury Pinetum. We received a really warm welcome and were shown our rooms. Our twins shared a bright and airy twin room and we had the next twin room across the way with a view out onto the front of the pub and the charming duck pond. You had...

I took my parents for lunch - first visit, based on online reviews, which seemed good. The reviews were fully justified: an interesting and varied menu (though steaks seem expensive in that part of the world!) and the food was tasty, well-cooked and well-presented. Also enjoyed a couple of pints of Smugglers Best bitter from Oliver's Real Ale Brewery in...

We were booked into The Bull Inn by a friend as we were attending a wedding in the area. Initially I was worried as had read a couple of negative reviews about this place but I couldn't have been more pleased that they were wrong. The rooms are lovely and clean, the staff incredibly helpful and the area is beautiful....

Again we had a very good lunch here today!! As usual staff were very friendly and attentive....and food, although it took a little while, was very tasty. We took advantage of the "old codgers" menu, which is very generous portions, and in no way inferior to the main menu.

7/06/2015 my family and I stopped off here for some refreshments half way around Bewlwater park during a 13 mile charity sponsored walk. At first it seemed like a lovely place in an ideal location for us halfway through the trip. We attempt to order our refreshments, a few of us wanted a cup of tea, the rest were happy...

After deciding to ride around Bewl Water and not quite realising just how far that would be, we were delighted to stop at the Bull Inn to get our breath back. We also decided that as we were having a meal at home we would share a burger and Chips. The portion sizes were great! We saw a couple of...

Turned up on the off chance on a recent Bank Holiday Monday for lunch. Told that the food was a 20 minute wait, which transpired to be 40 minutes. Fobbed off twice. Ring told food was 'just coming' despite no check made with kitchen. Simple ploughmans plus fish and chips (not the freshest fish) was not great but not bad...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Bull Inn was built between 1385 and 1425 and is reputed to be one of the oldest dwelling places in the country, but only became a pub towards the end of the 19th century. Set in 4 acres of rolling Sussex countryside, and within easy walking distance of beautiful Bewl Water, the Bull is very popular with walkers, cyclists and fishermen. A magnificent ancient building in a secluded location, the Inn has a wealth of old beams, low ceilings and quarry tiled floors that give it a real air of the traditional English Country pub. ... more   less
