This is a pub in the middle of nowhere really, but Sunday lunch is busy. Great service, although a little chaotic at times, and decent food, but too many people standing around you waiting for tables to come free, and too many times doors left open for the cold winter breeze to come through. Nice garden when the weather allows

We have eaten here twice in the last month and on both occasions the food has been great. Tasty home cooked food unfussy and big portions. Good value for money and plenty of choice on the menu to suit all. On both our visits we found the staff to be very friendly, welcoming and attentive. We did not stay at...

We turned up 2 minutes after midday when they opened and snagged the last available table. Glad we did as the food was great. Not too fussy for a "gastropub" and decent sized servings. We ate elsewhere in Ticehurst the night before and this was half the price and twice as nice! Reservations would be a good idea though!

This pub used to be my "local" before it was turned into a "gastropub" but in recent years it has returned to something like a proper old-fashioned pub with good beers, great food which is served in the integral dining room. Service is excellent and friendly. I hesitate to give it five stars because I don't want it to get...

Fabulous venue? Yes, not bad. We went last week, we had a lovely Ploughmans, albeit a bit pricey. We told them we would be returning today, Monday, a quiet day in pubs, with a crowd of walkers, they knew we would be parking there before our walk and going into the pub after. On our arrival today some of us...

Had a great meal after a fantastic walk around Bewl Water. The staff were friendly and helpful. The menu has great variety and I would recommend the "All in one Pie" We will certainly be returning. We did not stay over as we only live 30 miles away.

My wife and I dined one evening at the Bull during a visit to Ticehurst East Sussex and were so impressed with the quality of food and service that we went back again the next day with friends. All the staff were extremely friendly and courteous and it is perhaps unfair to single out any one person. However, 'Poppy' was...

Once you have braved windy country roads, you are rewarded with a peaceful country pub with a nice indoor and outdoor space. We were blessed with a beautiful day and a view of the duck pond and the play park. Food was amazing with fish to compared to Moby Dick and an amazing Thai veggie curry. Lovely way to end...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Bull Inn was built between 1385 and 1425 and is reputed to be one of the oldest dwelling places in the country, but only became a pub towards the end of the 19th century. Set in 4 acres of rolling Sussex countryside, and within easy walking distance of beautiful Bewl Water, the Bull is very popular with walkers, cyclists and fishermen. A magnificent ancient building in a secluded location, the Inn has a wealth of old beams, low ceilings and quarry tiled floors that give it a real air of the traditional English Country pub. ... more   less
