We returned again in October 2020 as this year my wife has taken up golf, my handicap is 10. We decided to book a 2 night stay and both enrolled on 3 half days (4 hrs per day) mixed ability golf classes.
We are very pleased to say that we were not disappointed and once again had a great time.
Our room was spacious clean and tidy with a large bathroom and bath. It would have been perfect had we had a proper shower as well.
The breakfast and lunch were of excellent quality, unfortunately evening meals were not being served due to the Covid-19 situation. It was nice to see Sam again, she is a superb host with great personality and enthusiasm who along with the other staff made us feel welcome and at home.
Tom North our professional golf coach was brilliant, he was patient, knowledgeable and made us feel at easy. As a results of Tom’s intensive coaching I could see a substantial improvement in my wife’s confidence and golf (she even got a birdie on one of the holes on the par 3 course). I felt that I had improved my game and learnt a lot from the 3 sessions I had with Tom.
We were please to see plenty of hand sanitizer around the hotel and golf facilities. A real effort had been made to keep the guests and staff safe.
If you are sightseeing in this area or want to improve you golf we would highly recommend that you stay at the Sedlescombe Golf Hotel and Golf School, you should not be disappointed.
We will be returning again next year.
As a suggestion, a small fridge in the room would be lovely and the provision of a small safe would be very useful particularly as the hotel is not staffed as the reception is in the golf clubhouse.
Overall, our whole party were delighted with the hotel and golf club and would highly recommend it.
All in all it was a lovely, relaxing and very enjoyable stay (which says a lot as we were visiting for a family wedding).
The rooms are clean & tidy. A little dated & could do with a proper shower for golfers, but you couldn’t complain. The course was quite challenging with ditches on every hole & lots of blind shots but was a good test. Greens & tees needed a bit of attention but the greens putted well. I would certainly recommend this venue to golfers & non golfers who are after a very good value for money experience.
The staff were welcoming. Our room was spacious with a large comfortable bed.
The restaurant food and service were good. However, during warm weather, our stay was spoilt because the the bath/shower mixer tap did not work and was near to falling of its mounting. We telephoned reception to report this but there was no reply. Later when we spoke to the manager we were told that the rooms were not advertised as having a shower facility and he made no apology. Be advise, if you expect en suite* to feature a good shower, do not book this hotel.
The staff are warm, friendly and extremely helpful, often going beyond expectations to ensure all needs are met. Food and menu are excellent.
I would especially like to thank Warren, Georgie and Sam for being exceptional hosts.
The most stand out plus are the staff; extremely helpful and accommodating and cannot do enough to make your stay a good one - especially Sam who went out of her way to accommodate our requests.
The food is very good and lots of choice, rooms are clean and spacious if a little dated - no separate shower but the very large bath was welcome after our round of golf.
Would definitely recommend the hotel to friends and we look forward to our next visit.
The room itself was big.
The room was in general clean - however there were a couple of niggles mainly with some of the cleaning regime:
- the kettle still had water in it from the previous occupant - it should be emptied after every visitor leaves.
- The kettle stand had coffee stains on it ( again this is a no no and indicates it’s not checked)
- one of the complimentary shampoo bottles had been used albeit only a little bit but it shouldn’t be there - so I guess the cleaning team just didn’t pay close attention .
The actual complimentary shampoos etc are good quality though.
The furniture is shabby chic some pieces were more shabby (sorry) than chic - lots of coffee stains on the tops.
That said the bed was comfortable and the area quiet.
Checkin is in the club house as was very smooth and staff polite.
We didn’t eat at the Club and had breakfast at the near by garden centre.
Room was quiet & spotless and food in clubhouse was great as were all the staff .
Would definitely stay there again.
