Lovely lunch served in a quaint dining room. The food was really very, very good. Other than the desert being slightly over cooked. Having said that, I ate every last mouthful. The only negative is the glassware. Sadly the wine glasses appeared to have been borrowed from Trust House Forte. Such a shame as this does impact on the enjoyment...

When we arrived for our overnight stay last Thursday we experienced a most unfriendly welcome from one of the bar staff and were just shown to our room. Not a good start! The superior 4 poster room was dull and uninspiring; the furniture was shabby, water stained and one bedside cabinet broken. The room was dull despite it being a...

Middle House is a historic house that has been around since the 1500's. We booked to go here for our anniversary and loved it. Friendly & welcoming staff, great service and amazing food. Would definitely recommend coming here but do book as it does get booked up.

My wife and I, on holiday in East Sussex and looking for somewhere to have lunch, happened upon the Middle House hotel and restaurant in the village of Mayfield. The building itself is, as can be seen from the picture above, delightful in appearance. We went inside and received a most friendly welcome from the staff at the bar and...

We arrived on a Thursday evening to a packed bar area which had a great vibe but left us worrying that we wouldn't be able to get a table (you can not reserve a table). Luckily someone vacated a table and we sat and enjoyed a very tasty meal. Both my friend and I had a vegetarian option which was...

A group of friends and I met up the other evening for a long overdue catch up over some food, we planned to do so at the Middle House which as a building I love, a nice pub with lovely open fires in every section, a fabulous example of a Tudor Inn. Although we were very comfortably seated in the...

Easter Monday family lunch with my very frail father-in-law. First visit having looked at the reviews on Tripadvisor. So glad we did, the staff were very helpful and patient with us, the food was wholesome and not over priced and the building is just stunning. All in all it was a real treat. Thank you!

We are locals to this pub and have the pleasure of being able to eat here regularly. The food is consistently tasty and served in generous quantities. You may want to skip lunch before you eat a meal here in the evening! The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Whether warming yourself by the fire in the depths of winter...

We visited on a Saturday night without booking. It was very busy. The restaurant was full but we were able to eat at a table near the bar. The food was very good quality and well cooked and presented. The staff were efficient and friendly

Standard 4 poster room was very good coffee machine and superior biscuits on the tray was a nice touch, and full English breakfast with home made bread made it good value for money. But the thing that stood out most was the restaurant - our food was superb. Chef''s special of guinea fowl; best lamb shank ever; and home made...
