My wife and I were following the "pooh trail" when we were fortunate enough to come across this absolute gem! The food was absolutely fantastic and great value for money. It was so good that my wife who has always hated black pudding is now a convert after sampling mine! Highly recommended.

We had a lovely evening at the Anchor last night. James and his team looked after us so well last night for a suprise birthday party. The food was lovely and staff were very friendly and helpful. We didn't stay, but the rooms look lovely, modern and clean (I would love to stay if I lived further away). We will...

Wish it was our local. We are an hour away. Great food. Great staff. So nice to have food in a proper pub. Not conveyer belt. With a proper chef who knows his trade. Staff have brilliant attitude and pkenty of local knowledge.

We had lunch at the Anchor. All five of us had different meals and each one was excellent. We've eaten here once before and the food was also fantastic. We've really struggled to find consistently good food in the area but the Anchor has delivered. It's an old village pub with loads of period charm (no Pub Co nonsense) and...

We were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the dishes we were served. The presentation and the flavours were of a very high standard, whoever is cooking can really cook! Given that our party included an ex Savoy trained chef (unknown to the Anchor) and 2 other super discriminating foodies plus daughter, I was delighted that the Anchor's offerings...

I stayed here years ago myself and loved it, I now live locally and always book one of these two beautiful rooms when people come to visit me, they are always delighted with these quaint rooms and often say how clean they are. Now they serve breakfasts daily I often join my friends for breakfast which has always been good....

I drove by on Friday, dropped in and was pleased to find a room free. Lovely, clean and crisp, no complaints at all, and a delicious breakfast the next morning, served in a lovely, homely, unpretentious way. The front room was absolutely fine, although there were some cheerful regulars, but no loud music at all. I would recommend this to...

Ignore the last review. I was there the same day and had dinner two nights running and lunch in between. All excellent meals, well prepared, well proportioned and presented in good time. Recommend the black pudding Scotch egg with mouth watering potato and apple salads. Steak night was super value and includes a 10 oz rump and a drink all...

Went here for a family meal. Waited an eternity to be served at the bar, dedpite the fact it wasnt too busy. Waited an eternity to get the food once ordered. Couldn't eat the food as it was thoroughly unpleasant. The staff were very friendly though. Some peculiar choices in 'art' hanging on the dining area walls. Quite incongruous, and...

Hi there. Thank you for your feedback. Could you please send us some more information about your visit - ie date and what time of the day? I'm very surprised to hear that it took a long time for you to be served (both in terms of service and for food service) when you say that it was quiet. All...

Had dinner here with the wife and two kids, 6 & 9. Reasonably priced, nice food and very friendly and polite staff. A decent selection of food options, large portions (even the kids meals were generous). The desert range is however very limited but still very nice. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. I did like that the main bar...
