Just on the off chance en-route to Batemans called in at The Rose & Crown -no problem to get a table -it became very busy within a short while .Cask beer was just wonderful -Harveys best bitter . A roast lunch was ordered and came with all English veg which today is hard to come by -very well cooked and...

Called in for lunch on Thursday. Excellent choice of beers and wines and a gin and tonic served properly! Menu had a wide and varied choice which provided us with duck, venison, lamb and veal liver. Good size portions and accompaniment of vegetables, hot and tasty. Not a morcel wasted. Pub grub at its best and good value for money....

Met up with some friends we had not seen for a long while and decided to have lunch a the Rose and Crown. A delightful pub with a good menu. Two specials offered today, the pork was superb. Steak, curry and chicken burger were great too. Varied sweet menu, hot and cold. A smashing lunch followed by coffee and mint....

I went here with my family - of ages from 90 yrs old to 27 and we all thoroughly enjoyed our Sunday lunch! They have generous portions with a great variety of veg and fantastic lamb. The staff were incredibly attentive and we really enjoyed it. I would drive the hour it took from my home to get here any...

We had such a warm welcome from the landlady at the Rose and Crown. Great food and atmosphere in the pub. Lovely room with chocolates on our pillows, tea and coffee etc. We even borrowed a raincoat for great walk in the surrounding countryside! Highly recommend staying here.

We ate here with friends after a lovely walk locally, taking in the nearby Bateman's house. The pub is dog friendly which is great. The service and main courses were good and the desserts were divine!

The menu is changed regularly so there is always a varied choice. The service is excellent and we and our dog are always made very welcome,...

Had an excellent meal today. Hot, tasty and cooked just right. Staff were very attentive despite the place being busy. Would definitely go again and recommend to friends. The place is old but stylish and warm.

Fabulous traditional British lunchtime fare and real local ales. Good service too. Cosy ambiance and pet friendly. The real ales are fabulous and the food was scrumptious - we had a steak with all the trimmings and a traditional steak and kidney pudding - both delicious. Unfortunately there was no room left for the tempting puddings on offer.

A very friendly welcome by Mireille and all her staff when staying overnight at very short notice on a cold night. Everything was tip-top, the double bedroom was warm and quiet (away from the main road), the pub's beer and atmosphere were excellent, particularly the locals playing fun traditional bar games (shove ha'penny, as one example), and the eggs and...
