I stayed in hotel Venus Melena in beginning of May and I really enjoyed my holidays. The hotel is very close to everything, bus station,shops,clubs,restaurants,beach...!!! The food was delicious, they had fresh bread, great meats, fishes, salads, omelets etc. The rooms was not so great but who cares....I didn't went on holidays to see my room after all.The lobby was very beautiful with a big piano and great statues around and very comfortable couches.Always internet in the lobby and very friendly staff.A small family business.
I spend my holidays at the Hotel Venus Melena , a retro receptioned hotel nearby the centre of Hesonisos. The location is fantastic , because anything you want is near you. The problem was with the turists. Too many Russian tourists , poor , with no manners , education and always full of food or alcohol. At breakfast I remember , they were not getting up from the table , unless they eat at least as much as they need to throw up ! One of them was eatting 9 plates of breakfast every day and twelve plates of dinner ! Jesus ! He must come from SIBIRIAS JAILS ! Another one , came and started making sandouices , for between meals ! RUSSIAN TOURISTS ARE UNFEADED ANIMALS - NO TOURISTS. I personaly , saved a fat one from drownning at the swimming pool !!! And because he didn't spoke English he shaked my hand and he showed me that he had eaten like an Elephant before he get to swimm !!! Please next year , eat something before you come to Greece for Holidays ! Haaaa !!! AGENTS ! DONT SEND ANIMALS TO GREECE _ SENT NORMAL PEOPLE !!!!…
Paper thick walls, old establishment, poor service, wifi only at reception That breakfast was something I'll remember forever. I have stayed to many hotels before, never been served so bad coffee, so ugly omelet, so watery 'juice'. Stay away
If you can, you better stay away from this disaster. There was NO HOT WATER, ever! When we get to our room, it was a suprise. We paid for 3beds room and what we get was 2 beds + a one sunbed ?? no one could sleep on that extra bed so we connected those 2 beds and slept broadways. Sleeping was an adventure. When we ask the receptionist to switch the room, she said that all 3bed room are the same, 2 beds + that.. lovely! Bathroom was small, with no hot water. One day there was no water at all, but it was only for a couple of hours. They changed towels once, but you couldn't tell if they were clean or used... Breakfast was fine as long as you are the first on the scene, because the waitresses waited until all salvers are empty before even thinking about refill. The same was for coffee, and she was really annoyed when we asked for milk. Breakfast was the same every day. Dinner was really bad, every day. There was a piano in the lobby, and we were lucky when the one playing it was good at it. Mothers encourage their children to practice, that was real fun... Wifi was only in that lobby. The only quality of Venus Melena is that it's in the central part of Chersonisos.…
I just got back from this hotel this evening. This was the worst experience ever! There is No Hot Water!!! (should i say more???) Swimming pool is in awful condition. Matraces are at least 20 years old. Hotel staff is too loud (they woke us up every morning at 7 am by slamming the doors and moving furniture while cleaning -very nice sound to start the day on your holiday). I don't even want to comment the food! No need to go any further. All in all avoid this "hotel" in any case! Do not even consider it!
I booked this hotel through Olympic Airline's search engine as I had made my flight arrangement through them. The hotel was described as a 3 star catagory. Should have been more like a half star ( just for their lobby only)! arrived there with prepaid voucher for 3 nights. We were shown to our room which looked NOTHING like the photo seen on their webpage. The beds/mattresses lookedl like they havent been changed since the hotel opened. There was NO HOT WATER, (which I was told to let it run for 10 minutes and it would get hot) I ran it for 20 and NOTHING! There was NO A/C as that was an EXTRA CHARGE even though my voucher stated an a/c room and I had paid for an airconditioned room with fridge. There was NO SOAP in the bathroom. The refrigerator was EXTRA! ridiculous as this too was to be included. When I spoke to management they told me to go to OCTOPUS Travel and complain. The Remote control for tv was not working. Then there were constantly drunks in and out of this (hotel???)for a lack of a better term! tried calling security who was sitting/sleeping outside at 4 a.m. with the lobby completely left unsecured! to complain about the drunk who was banging on all the doors on our floor. I had to leave the room to go to find someone as the phone was not working! I have been in the Travel/Airline Industry for 30+ years WORST EXPERINCE EVER!…
To begin with we were notified by our booking agent, Travel Republic, 4 days before our departure date, that the hotel we had booked had been over booked and they were now offering us the Venus Melena as an alternative. We checked the reviews and didn't fancy it but they had us over a barrel and were more or less told to take or leave it. They would refund the hotel costs but we were stuck with the flights! Thought I would mention it as this could maybe happen to you. Maybe they take your booking knowing full well that the preferred hotel is fully booked and then offer the Venus Melena, who knows? Anyway lets get on to the hotel. This hotel seems to cater mainly for Russians. As far as I could tell we were the only British people in the hotel and everyone else was speaking Russian. This was not necessarily a problem apart from meal times. We were staying half board and had to contend with the Russians raiding the buffet. They would pile their tables high with food, taking all courses at the same time. It was amazing to see and then eat the food in no particular order. We soon decided to get to the restaurant as soon as it opened just to make sure. The staff were a bit slow at times replacing the food. The food itself wasn't too bad, it was a bit mundane. You won't get any junk food not that we found that a problem but my main criticism was that it was only look warm even though we attended as soon as the restaurant opened. I must mention the Restaurant Manager, this guy was unbelievable. He must have been late fifty maybe sixty and he spent most of his time sniffing around any Russian girls who was not in male company. He would start by touching them, then kissing their hands arms, neck, face and he actually planted one on the lips of one girl who sat there looking stunned. This was at breakfast time in full view of everyone! I don't know how he gets away with it. They just didn't seem to know how to handle him. The hotel has a piano in the foyer. We thought it was probably just for ornamental purposes but we were wrong. The Restaurant Manager would play the piano every morning at 8am and you could here it clearly in your room. Well fine if your a fan of Russian classical music. I overheard him telling two Russian girls that he played the piano to get his angels up in the morning. You couldn't make it up! Moving on, the rooms were of a poor standard, no more than two star, the pool area was grotty, we spent every day on the beach. The fire door leading to the corridor were we were staying was wedged open with believe it or not the fire extinguisher! Every night we would close the door and when we got up we found the fire extinguisher wedging the door open. Funny enough we had a great time, the hotel didn't burn down, we soon worked out how to get fed. We'd have probably spent most time on the beach anyway. After two weeks I have probably acquired a taste for Russian classical music. Hersonissos is a big, brash resort but there is plenty to do . The second week we found the town of Koutouloufari . Its only a ten minute walk up the hill at the back of Hersonissos. Its a much niecer place. We intend to stay there next time at Marni Village. We got taking to people who were staying their and they all thought it was fabulous. Many of them go back year after year. Still this holiday won't be forgotten in a hurry... that Restaurant Manager... Brad Pitt, eat your hart out!…
This hotel is centrally located. Walking distance to anything in town. Right on the bus route if you want to take an excursion, or venture out on your own to a neighbouring town. It's clean, and the room was fine. It's not a high end hotel, but it was fine for us as we never spend much time in our room. The pool is fine, breakfast was average, but the hotel staff were really friendly and helpful. This is definitely a tourist town. Tons of restaurants, bars, and shopping. The best tip I can give you is leave the hotel, walk up the hill to the 2 little villages about 10 minutes away and you will experience a completely different atmosphere. Great restaurants in the villages. Restaurants in town are very americanized and it's hard to find good greek food. Lots of pizzas etc... but for the most part pretty average. The beaches in town are not the greatest but you can hop on a local bus and go to nearby Kokkini Hani and the beaches there are much nicer, with soft sand, great clear water, and room to move between umbrellas.…
We also booked a grece tour with Air Transat and the last 3 days were planned to sejourn at the Venus Melena hotel. We arrived around 9hres pm from the speedboat from Santorini island. At arrival the reception clerk gave us our room we open the door and the room was not done, the sheets, the bathroom everything was dirty. I noticed that the shower curtain had not been washed probably since 1977...going down the elevator noticed that drulling stuff from the walls, elevator doors shabe, everything very dirty. We complained with our Air Transat representative that was very comprehensive and made arrangements for all couples to upgrade to a decent and much better hotel named the Sylvia Maris. A all inclusive paradise , a 4 star hotel with great service. I would suggest that if this hotel is on your planned journey please upgrade. This one is really a dump, the bar tender told us we were lucky since the Venus Melena hotel did not charge for air conditionner... Please do not stay there! …
I was not impressed. Dead mosquitos on the walls, holes in the sheets, not so white towels. Not what I expected. Looking at photos on the net was so much better than the real thing.
