Lovely property. We stayed there for a week and had a relaxing and comfortable staying. The hotel has a old charm of the British era. It has an amazing collection of very rare photographs which narrates the history of the place. We stayed in delux rooms. It had two big windows facing the valley. I had my father with me who is 93 years of age. He enjoyed the lovely view of the valley from his room. The staffs were very caring towards him. The warmth and prompt service of the staffs also made him feel very comfortable. What I loved the most is that here the staffs all worked with an excellent team spirit. The manager was an excellent gentleman, very helpful and cordial. The hotel has an excellent lobby done up in british style and a lawn overlooking the valley. It’s a wonderful experience sitting there for hours in the night and gazing the valley glittering with lights… Would love to revisit once again.…
Very bad and deplorable condition. I think the management is not accepting this fact. However as a traveller disappointed and not going to sugar coat my opinion. Never going to refer or. Recommend to others . Other smaller lodgings are far better
Stay 20th March to 23rd March 2022 – Mountain facing deluxe room. Big room with 2 big windows facing the valley and mountain. Decorated in contemporary old British style but missing modern necessary amenities. Kalimpong was hot during day around 30 degree-Centigrade plus and room has NO AC or even Celling-fan. Only one stand fan provided. No refrigerator was provided in the room. Wooden floor and Carpet looks old without proper cleaning. Washroom has bath-tub which is not functional. But anyway the bed was comfortable and some nice sofa was provided. For room I will say 2*. Location was excellent. Just 2 mins from main taxi stand on the main road. And the other side of the property has excellent mountain view. 5*. Staffs are very welcoming and very helpful. From reception to restaurant they server with a smile. Kudos to the team with 5*. Simply NO-Amenities. Just few meter away Mayfair has swimming-pool/play area and many others. This property has one open sit-out area facing the mountain which is good and a small lawn. If someone need to relax in peace that the only place which get spoiled by a loud private party. IMO, if the hotel doesn’t have proper infrastructure they shouldn’t allow open private parties in open areas which really irritates the other boarders. Only 1*. Food totally sucks…… Not comparing with Mayfair which is costlier than this one. But both breakfast and dinner spread out is very low. The breakfast breads were not fresh everyday, same repetition for 4 days. Most of all the foods are served in set menu rather than buffet. Only one day chines menu was served in dinner which was comparatively better than all other dishes. Max only 2 non-veg dish were severed in dinner. Try to avoid lunch and dinner as there are numerous dine-out available just within few meters. Food 2* With a high price tag of around 13K/night I suggest not to stay here and look for other options. Overall, very pleasant stay at this price range. Only issue is that one need to travel long to the Ghats and other attractions.…
Efficiently managed by Mr. Ghosh this is a beautiful heritage property of the Elgin portfolio ( Darjeling, Pellim, Gangtok ). Nestled in the hills of Kalimpong a warm and caring team of F&B, HK, FO and others look after this wonderful property keeping the flag of Elgin Hotels flying high at all times. Kalpana and I had a three night wonderful stay and we promise to return to this place whenever we can. Very convenientky located, great dining in splendour, well maintaned large rooms all combine to give guests a great stay experience...
The Elgin Silver Oaks in Kalimpong holds a heritage bungalow adorned with flowers and a sprawling garden that could be better maintained. The rooms are clean but carpets musty, staff are laid back and slow, the bathrooms have cracks and need repair. Otherwise a pleasant stay. Room 51 has the best view.
Beautiful stay , awasome view and nostalgic. I came here 10 years back on my honeymoon. Food need to be improve more and breakfast was bit limited it seems . Travel desk is costly. Kalimpong itself a nice city. Mr.Rabin Lama was quite help full. Have given us a nice support .
Beautiful property with mesmerizing mountain views - the staff was very co-operative and helped us with even the tiniest of requests. Not all rooms are similar even in the same category, so it’s better to see before you book. Great experience in all.
Recently I have stayed in The Elgin Silver Oaks Kalimpong. This is a heritage property and service is exceptional. They have given me room no 51 and it has 360 degree mountains view and I believe this is the best view room in the entire property. During this pandemic they did proper sanitation. The best thing about this hotel is food. Quality, quantity, taste and the presentation of the food were so exceptional and kept excellent impression about the service of the hotel as well. Entire property are decorated with old sculptures, paintings and furniture and the management are maintaining the garden so well it gives a treat to my eyes. This hotel is very English. Mr Ghosh manager of this hotel took extra care of mine and he is an amazing person. Only one small suggestion from my side is that the washroom definitely needs renovation. Apart from that I would highly recommend everyone to come and stay in this beautiful picturesque property.…
A beautiful heritage hotel with excellent location and very family friendly staff , maintenance was good though the food was not upto expectations but can’t expect much in a small hill station, a special mention to anjali in house keeping for helping out with the stay and mr being on the reception, overall a good stay
The property is ideally located for easy access to market and cafes and yet quiet enough overlooking the beautiful valley. The team and staff are amazing and warm. They make you feel like it's your home. Since it's a heritage building all their rooms are quite differently sized. Our experience at the property was great cause we were in the 1st floor valley facing room. Ground floor valley facing rooms can be a bit too tiny for comfort and if you like expansive views as part of your mountain holidays the back facing rooms won't work for you Perfect get away if you enjoy peace and quite
