The food is delicious especially the thalis which are very wholesome.
There is also a large well maintained lawn. The only disadvantage with respect to Morgan House (another property of WBTDC) is that the locality outside Morgan House is much better than Hilltop.

Overall, a very beautiful place to stay.

Very quite place will hear birds monkeys sometimes no noise of vehicle's.

1. 180 degree unobstructed panoramic view of the mighty Kanchanjunga range.
2. Incredible hospitality & service
3. Tasty food and wide range of options including continental
4. Huge well maintained lawn
5. No tips
Rooms do not have a view in particular. Can get preety chilly during winters.
Perched on a hill top but convenient to visit market area. Takes 10 mins by shared car service. Rs.20 per person.
We found the location better than Morgan House. Lot of film shootings have been done here.
Running Hot water is available (and of great use here!).The rooms are 3 bedded and dormitories are 8 bedded .Bringing your WHOLE family along is recommended!!Food is fresh and of great quality. The restaurant is a great place to sit, drink coffee and chat or play UNO or cards!By the way, mountains encourage great chess! The coffee needs special mention.
The hotel is located in a scenic, quaint and far-from-the-city area.It is surrounded by lawns and is a great place for children to play!
The location provides for a mixed feeling of scariness and awe at night owing to it's location, and is THE place to view the famous Kanchenjunga peaks at dawn.
Long walks to nearby locations are rewarding for the fresh air and hilly country-side are an awesome attraction .Darjeeling is nearby and so are other hill stations.nurseries and orchards are also frequently spotted.White water rafting in the Testa river is also a must!
in short if you want quiet and far from the city type of spot with oodles of nature and scenic beauties, and lots and lots of open space, then this is the place to be.

Perfect place for people who want lavish stay coupled with vintage charm.
All the rooms are huge, and have excellent wooden furniture.I recommend room no 4 on the first floor. The extended all wooden porch provides nice seating and balcony like feel. The sky was clear during our stay, so we witnessed great sight of Kanchenjunga right from the balcony.
The food is also good keeping in mind that you are at a remote place. The Indian dishes were better than the Chinese. Our main idea was to sit back and relax, get the cold breeze on our face and enjoy tranquillity of the Himalayas.

The hotel is located on top of a hill just above the army base and crookety house.
All the rooms are large and airy with huge french windows with three beds. They even have fireplace inside the room but not sure whether it works or not in the winter. The washroom is clean with 24/7 geyser.
Food is available in the restaurant but you have to order in advance. The restaurant itself is nice and airy and well decorated. Better than the one available at the Morgan house.
The compound is well maintained and on clear days you can see Kanchenjunga from the balcony. In the night you can see the town of Kanchenjunga lit up.
Since it is situated above the market place you need to call for cars to get there. You may also hike down if you want to.Maruti omni cars are available there to take you to the market place and they generally take Rs. 100 per trip.
The location in my opinion is one of the finest in Kalimpong. The hotel being situated sufficiently higher than the marketplace is the perfect place to unwind and relax without bothering about the hoot of traffic.
Right outside the room is an expanse of green- grass, trees and flowers. On a good day, from your balcony and from the lawn one can see Kanchenjunga and the Himalayan mountain range in all its glory. If peace and quiet and a good view is your thing this is the hotel to be at!
Walking around outside the hotel at night is an experience to say the least. To the right one can see the lights of Kalimpong below. Nightime gives the hotel a mystic feel. The interiors with their colonial feel and calm and serene exterior will truly lift your spirits during your stay.
Coming to the rooms, the most striking thing as you enter the rooms is their size! The rooms are big, spacious and clean! The washroom is basic but is also quite large and has everything you need. Most rooms are three bedded rooms with many windows and good size! The furniture was worn but of good quality(Möbel Furniture a well known brand). The blankets were not of the best quality but warm enough. The only complain I have is the bed quality. Truth be told I thought the beds were a bit too hard.
Wi-Fi is available but the signal is strongest near the reception so in-room Wi-Fi is not guaranteed.
The food is not very posh, but hearty and after a day of sightseeing you will not be disappointed. But do note that one will not receive breakfast earlier than 8.00 AM as the market does not open before 7.30. Breakfast does not have much choice and is limited to what is available in the marketplace. During our stay we wanted bread but it wasn't available, so we got 'Puri Sabzi' instead (an Indian dish), not that I'm complaining- it was pretty good!
Evening snacks include momos and pakoras. The 'chicken pakora' is recommended! The head of the kitchen was prompt to take our orders and the service was pretty good.
All in all this hotel is one of Kalimpong's finest and has a certain homely feel. I'd certainly be back when I visit Kalimpong in the future!
