Having traveled extensively in North Bengal, Palighar was unique in more ways than one. A lovely homestay which has all the modern amenities co-existing with eco- friendly construction. Kabir and Ahana are excellent ghosts who knows exactly the needs of the guests and pampers them with great food and awesome stories. More power to this lovely couple in their endeavor to run a farm stay which is not a run-off-the-mill stuff.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at #palighar... And your hospitality, food and local bazar... Birding from our room itself was amazing... Had a wonderful 2 night stay in PaliGhar. Kabir and Ahana are really good hosts. The property is set up away from the hustle and bustle of kalimpong town. Clean and hygienic rooms, good food, authentic and relaxing experience.
A bunch of us friends stayed at Palighar, a lovely farm stay. Kabir and Ahana were lovely hosts, Sanjay and Shiva turned out delectable meals and supplied endless coffees. The aesthetics were sinple and pleasing. And what more, we did some great birding just sitting around our rooms. They even took great care of a friend who fell sick. We managed 1 short walk with Kabir who filled us in with information on trees and plants. And oh, Ahana taught us to cook Nepali food. Couldn't have asked for more .
We spent 2nights at Palighar and the day we left, felt like it the stay was just not enough.. The place is ideal for nature lovers, food lovers and those who want to simply relax and spend a quality. The hosts Kabir and Ahana are the most wonderful hosts i have ever met. From the day we arrived on their property they made us felt at home. Both of them ensured we had all the necessary things. Both of them are passionate about their profession and that reflects in their talks. The property is filled with various flora and fauna and good thing to know that most of it is indigenous. We had a good fun time doing birding and spotted almost 10-15 species of birds like woodpeckers, cuckoo, peafowls, doves, bulbul, treepie and many more. The rooms were spacious and clean with a rustic feel. Toilets were absolutely clean and spacious with all necessary toiletries in place. The best thing about Pali Ghar is the food they offer. We thoroughly enjoyed every meal presented to us. We were served traditional Nepalese meal with locally grown vegetables and spices. The Chef Sanjay, Didi are absolutely lovely cooks and they served us with really lip smacking dishes. We got to learn some basic food preparation tips for Thukpa and Momo’s from Sanjay and Ahana. The jams prepared by Ahana were simply irrestible and we took some with us back home. We would like to specially thank Kabir and Ahana going out of the way to celebrate our anniversary and birthday. The deserts were simply delicious and that is the one memory which will stay with me forever. Thanks to you both ! The property is for those people who really like to admire nature and rightly so is away from the main town by atleast 30-40mins of drive. There are no Tv’s in the room and you are meant to spend your time outside in nature. Property is very well maintained and all the arrangements are well thought of. We all would definitely love to come back and stay with Kabir and Ahana. Next time will be for longer duration for sure.…
Palighar has got to be the 'go to' place when looking for peace and tranquility in these parts of the country. We spent two nights at Palighar and at the end of our stay I literally didn't feel like leaving! Great views, away from the main road so there is no air or sound pollution and some amazing trails to walk around in. The rooms are airy and well positioned to enjoy the sunshine and views. My only gripe was that we didn't arrive sooner and leave later!
The BEST homestay we've experienced! It really sets the benchmark! Ahana and Kabir are the most wonderful hosts - warm, thoughtful, and very passionate and knowledge about what they do. Our room was extremely comfortable, with an amazing view. We were treated to the most delicious, nutritious, traditional Nepalese meals, prepared by Ahana and her help, Sanjay ji. Ahana's bread and jams are absolutely stellar too! The property is dotted with fruit trees and flowers and our little one had so much fun harvesting vegetables and berries with Ahana. Tip - It's located around half an hour away from Kalimpong, and while the directions provided are very clear, we found it easier to take a local cab from the town centre. Our stay was flawless. Would love to be back!
We spent 2 nights in Kalimpong, at PaliGhar homestay and I strongly recommend the place to visitors. Kabir and his wife are 2 very nice hosts who like what they do and will ensure you feel confortable and safe during your stay. They have built a very nice and well decorated homestay where you will have good quality services. The rooms are clean and well maintained, small attentions to details like flowers in the bathroom, etc. You have a view on the nature and the garden, the flowers that they have planted themselves. They have organized a nice outside table for lunch and breakfast where you will feel in the middle of the nature. Local food cooked at home, very nice. We came with 4 family members, my daughter 5 years old and my mother in law and we spent a nice time there. We have participated to a "Momo cooking" activity with them and it was very pleasant. We did a village walk as well as a river walk where my daughter could swim. Everyone enjoyed this time in nature and the way to meet a new culture from the North-East of India. Kabir can also organize more deep programs around the region if you wish to, so do not hesitate to contact him in advance and discuss. Living in India since 4 years and having traveled quite a bit, this stop in Kalimpong after Darjeeling was very nice and I recommend it with pleasure. …
Had one of the most memorable experience in Kalimpong this time. Thanks to Palighar for providing such a warm stay, delectable local organic food and lovely conversations. They are doing such inspiring creative work in tourism sector in Kalimpong. Don't miss the Nepali thali and the nature walk! A must visit for people who love eco-friendly, sustainable tourism👍
Would recommend not going with any particular agenda. Palighar is a pretty farm which is a place for you to unwind and relax. Read a book, enjoy views of the hills, great weather and even better food. Kabir and Ahana are the best hosts you could wish for. Ahana also makes some stunning fruit jams! So yum! Do try the nepali thalis but otherwise, let them cook what they feel like and you will be extremely happy. 3 days here is just what you need to relax and unwind from a hectic city life.
