Recently our group of 6 family members travelled by road to Puri and stayed in Jamindar Palace for 4 nights. We booked Suite room and got higher floors (407 and 107) with a wonderful view of sea and sunrise. I have stayed in this hotel three times over last several years. I spoke to the Reception team regarding a gradual decline in room maintenance and cleaning. while food was reasonably good , a full house in morning breakfast was chaotic and frequent empty food trays. However the location and the beach (Called BLUE Beach ) was a definite attraction. Most of Reception guys were helpful . Travel Desk (Dipu) always tried to help visitors to chalk out the travel plans. Dinning Area was spacious and staff's (few in number) tried to service well. Names we remember for trying to provide good service were Akshyay , Sima who toiled with a smile.…
And we came back to stay at this hotel property again after 5 years. We found many improvements of the hotel post covid and now this hotel can boast of offering really pleasant stay to its clients. Booking: This time we didn't book hotel directly but booked thru hotel's approved agency Puriyatra.com to get good discounts. Mid November is not peak season, so getting booking at some discounts was still easy at this pre peak season. (Peak season considered 15Dec to 15Jan). After much nego, we were able to get a deal of Rs 6944 per night for a Suite room (for 3 adults) incl of breakfast, which is much cheaper than hotel's direct booking rate. Also we got 1 free entrance per person to blue flag beach daily complimentary. And Puriyatra cooperated us good. Check In: We had previous experience of 3.5 hrs waiting. This time it was only 1 hour ( as we reached hotel at 10am, May be 11am was their chk in time). So we dumped our luggage at their reception & went out for a stoll at the newly developed Blue flag beach & hotel gave us complimentary entry ticket for that. (Will review Blue flag beach seperately). At 11am we returned & at 11.15am we were allotted room. We insisted for higher floor so they allotted front sea facing corner suite no 307 (3rd floor). Reception desk manpower quality improved a bit in terms of attitude. Suite Room: Since it's a corner room towards east, view from balcony is awesome. We enjoyed excellent sunrise from our balcony. Rooms are clean & tidy enough. Large room (bedroom) consists of a king size bed, bedside tables, a work table/ chair, a large wall mounted TV & 2 extra chairs (we placed those at our balcony, which is sufficiently large). Large glass doors gives you sea beach view even lying at bed). 3 plug points equipped for charging devices are there. Small room / drawing room is having, a large sofa, centre table, 1 extra bed/ couch, a mini fridge, a smaller TV, tea making arrangements, table shelves etc. Wash room is having a bathtub, separate shower cubicle. Toiletries provided were quite good. Room lighting not loud but sufficient. AC working ok. Overall room is comfortable & pleasant. Restaurant/ Breakfast/ In room dining: Breakfast spread improved. Although replenishment need to be faster. Milk/ cereals, bread/ butter/ jam, poori/ sabzi, idlies, mini uttapams, omlettes, boiled eggs, some fruits like banana, watermelon etc, boiled veggies, dosas, juices, tea/ coffee are normal availabilities. Although spread is not huge, but sufficiently enough choices to fill your hunger. We asked for sunny side up egg poaches which was made available although after 2 reminders. F&B Manager is pleasant & quite cooperative. We opted for lunch & dinner at room. Expected serving is from 35 to 45 mins, which need to be improved. But food quality is quite good, far better than our previous experience. We would mention 3 awesome dishes- Butter Chicken, Malai Kofta & Grilled Fish (Basha) masala. Chicken Biriyani is also good. Since we were about to check out early morning at 6am on the 3rd day, we requested for some packed breakfast. Since the service starts at 8am, they packed us fruits, bread, butter, eggs previous night, which we definitely appreciate. Other Things: Hotel have a average size swimming pool, at the right side of hotel entrance. Since this is on the other side of sea, the water is always too cold. But water quality is too good & have large section for kids. Staffs (house keeping, restaurant, security) are very cooperative. The hotel is bang on the blue flag beach. Earlier you needed to walk just 50 mtrs from hotel gate to beach. But since the beach is now protected as prestigious Blue flag beach, you need to walk some 150 to 200 mtrs to enter the beach thru another property, Hotel Panthanivas. The best advantage of hotel is its location. Swargadwar beach is approx 2.5 kms, you can get there by auto or erickshaw at Rs 80-100. Mahaprabhu Jagannath Mandir is approx 3.5 kms & autos charge Rs 120-150. Railway station is a mere 1.5 to 2 kms & autos charge Rs 100-200 depending on your nego skills. For travel/ cars/ bike rentals, don't go to travel desk as they are costlier. There is a private counter just opposite the entrance, who are much cheaper, trustworthy & good. For Mandir Darshan always book your Panda Ji/ Purohit in advance to avoid disappointment interms of satisfaction, cost etc. Although bit costly, you can take Hotel's approved Panda Ji. However we booked our known Panda Ji externally. Opt for Sea facing higher floor rooms. 3rd floor 301-307 and 4th floor 401-407 are recommended. Overall Review: The hotel has definitely improved much on look, service, food etc compared to pre covid era. For families, this may be one of the 3 best accommodations in Puri & definitely recommendable. Would like to come back here again. Ask me if I missed some reviews. …
Don’t get fooled by others reviews complete hotel is under maintenance bathroom partition glass broken balcony door requires two person to open in six thousand u get CLINIC PLUS LIFEBOY LUX Swimming pool full of mosquitoes Rude management
It was such a horrible experience this time. All the towels, bedsheets etc are dirty and stinky. They have huge spiders and cockroaches. The kettle is rusty, stinky and dirty. Room service is pathetic too. I would never recommend this place. Only the sea view was good.
Have stayed twice at this hotel due to access to a private beach. Otherwise Puri's beaches can be very crowded. Conveniently located, you can take an Auto Rickshaw right from the hotel to the Temple. I halted here during my long distance raod trips twice and I got a very nice parking facility. Break fast spread is not impressive. Staff at the restaurant need training. Though they announce breakfast at 7.30, the complete spread come in only around 8.00 am. So if you can opt for Room only without breakfast.
Excellent Room & Balcony with great sea view. Promt House Keeping, Room Service Staff. However, all the hard work of the team has been let down by PATHETIC Buffet Breakfast and very unprofessional staff at the restaurant. The F&B Manager Mr Paresh Mohanty does not know what is going on in his area of operation, busy in his own world. The GM Mr Jogendra Boipoi not bothered to take any action inspite of repeated complains to him wrt the Buffet Breakfast and non availability of snacks at the restaurant. Slept over the issue like Judishtir. Out of our 4 complimentary breakfast, we hardly could have anything on 3 occasions and had at May Fair Waves on 1 occasion. GM refused to compensate even the 1day BF bill at May Fair. The front office though courteous was helpless. High time the owner takes stock of the situation. Good place to stay, but be prepared to Starve!!…
Jaminder Palace suppose to be high end hotel no direct access to beach. To access beach via another hotel and have to pay if you want to visit several times. Reception is the worst place to be in would not see any smiling place or ready to help staff. Service unprofessional breakfast half prepared unavailable have to wait for curtlery unavailable have to ask for it. Rooms not clean have to ask to get it cleaned attitude worst of front desk Hospitality at its lowest level Rgds Dr Sunandan Basu
Room taken was suite, could have provided a double bed but sea view was awesome. Breakfast is very mundane and almost same everyday with very slow service, even think staff is less. Menu meals very expensive from all standards where there are 100 options available in close proximity. Hotel holiday resort is a better option in my opinion. Staff is courteous with prompt response though.
I went with a tour operator - "50plusvoyagers". Paid heavy premium for single occupancy. But was allocated a worst room, located at most unhygienic corner of the hotel.(entire laundry of the hotel would be sorted in-front of the room 208) All other guests were given rooms with sea view, since I was a single and a repeat customer of 50plus voyagers, 50plus co must have thought that I can be short-charged. When request for similar rooms as that of other group members, the response from the hotel was very rude. Food- sambar was stale. Veg kofta curry was also from old stock and cold. Very average quality food. The private beach is being maintained fine. That is the only redeeming feature in this property.
Staff was rude. food was bad. service was even poor. over priced for quantity and quality they provide. utensils and plates were not clean food was not fresh. in all must be avoided for food though name is good for rooms
