The hotel is well-maintained. Looks gives you a feel-good factor.

The hotel is L shaped with a garden at the centre. Economy rooms are at the ground floor adjacent to lawn. Standard rooms are at first floor. Deluxe rooms are at second floor. These rooms falls on long leg of L. The suites falls on the short leg of L.

Staff are courteous, well-behaved. However, room-service and housekeeping takes time. Sometimes 3-4 calls are needed. Maybe due to shortage of staff.

Beach is 2 minutes walk from the hotel. Prefer the standard and deluxe rooms as the sea breeze gets blocked in the economy rooms as these are in ground floor and hotel is surrounded by big walls. However, if you don't like sitting in the hotel and instead prefer going out and sitting on the beach, then no point of spending extra bucks on the first and second floor.

Complimentary(free) breakfast (mostly buffet) is same for all the room types. You need to come down to the hotel's restaurant Radhika, located at the basement. During our stay we got continental, Indian and south Indian dishes. Lunch and Dinner quality is of good quality, but quantity can be increased a bit. Prices are a bit high keeping in mind the service tax and VAT which is applied extra. There are no good nearby restaurants within 50 meters range.

All rooms are AC. Lift is not present. Person with physical problems who have problems with staircase can go for economy rooms as these are at ground floor. Ask for rooms which are located in the middle which are located away the reception and entrance areas. Shampoo, soap were there, but they didn't provided the small toothpaste tubes.

Jagannath Temple is some 1. 5 km from hotel. Auto takes 60-100 depending on your negotiation skills directly from hotel gate. Swargadwar beach is some 300-400 meters from the hotel.

We went with our family to spend a weekend and stayed in Hotel Gajapati. The rooms were ok specially the sea view room. The food were ok and service was also ok. But more improvement is required specially with the service. The rates are bit high compared to the position of the hotel and service. But overall it was average experince.

In this new year i have stayed there for three night. Very good hotel. stuffs are very helpful. At the 31 night they arranged gala dinner which was very attractive and the food was very good.
Rooms are well decorated and clean.
My room had an adjacent balcony from where i can have a good view of sea. overall i enjoyed my stay over there.
One improvement i will recommend to them to make the breakfast little better.

Made the booking with all confirmations details like late arrival and 3 people for the room with an extra cot.
When we arrived the room late midnight , didn't have an extra cot even we had to wait around 30 mins for the extra cot and without a mattress , we refused to sleep on the extra cot as it was completely impossible to sleep on it. We had to wait 45 mins for a simple pillow.
The next day the room service didn't clean the room the whole day even mentioning to do so at 0900 hrs till 0000 hrs they didn't perform the same.
The service is awfully worst.
One glass of hot water takes 1.30hrs to arrive .
Please publish this on your site so that people know that this hotel is not at all a 3star category hotel.
Staff is not well behaved as after mentioning all they do not even takes care about this.
We are really disappointed .

During January 25 to 30 last year, I had ocasion to organise my daughter's engagement in Hotel Gajapati. Since a number of guests were visiting from outside, we had booked many rooms and requested them to organise the entire event. Though not located directly on the beach (less than five minutes walk from the sea beach), this hotel has a number of sea facing rooms with beautiful sight of the sea. In factfrom one wing one has good rooms and really wonderful sight of the sea. The other wing is also ok, but rooms are a little small. Price is competitive, the staff very cordial and the place is managed fairly professionally. The hotel has a small lawn bedecked with flowering plants and a hall for functions. During the period we stayed, ISKON had regular functions every day. It worked well for us too.

The hotel has facilities to organise good Darshan of Lord Jagannath, In fact, this was one of the great advantages that we had at this place. It is a little far from the temple. But regular autos are available and the hotel organises transport on request at comparative rates.

Since our food was pre ordered with them, I am not able to comment on general menu the serve. Food was good but could be better and more professional. Lift is not there. Older people will have to be on ground floor.
Overall I like the place and was grateful to the management for helping me immensely with the function.

After reading a few of the reviews on this site, we were not quite keen to stay here but had no choice because we could not get a room in any other hotel during our recent weekend trip to Puri.

The hotel is slightly set back from the beach, behind the row of beach-fronted hotels, but later we found that the beach was two to five minutes away, depending on your pace of walk.

It was a long drive from Kolkata and we reached the hotel rather late. But the check in, arranging for an extra room, helping us with car parking and driver's accommodation, happened smoothly and promptly. Mr Pandey, the front office manager, and Mr Mallick, the F&B in-charge ensured guests' requests were promptly met.The service staff was well meaning - may be a little more training in guest relations will help them to understand how to tackle different guests.

We stayed in room numbers 404 and 406 - the former overlooked the hotel's garden while the latter overlooked the road in front. 404 was slightly smaller than 406. But both rooms were clean and well appointed - dresser with mirror, bed side stands, tv, a small sofa and a table. The washroom/toilets were clean. The linen and towels were clean and crisp.

We did not like the system of supplying drinking water in room in used packaged drinking water bottles. So we bought sealed one separately. Dining hall is in the basement. Since the hotel does not have an elevator, climbing the stairs may be a little problematic for those with weak knees.

The food was okay. We had requested the spice quotient to be moderated and they complied.

On average, we were happy. And wouldn't mind staying there again provided the hotel is able to maintain its current standard and improve upon it.

We booked a room at this hotel for two days. from the check in to the check out our experience was very pathetic. While check in we have to wait minimum 30 mins in the lobby while we're told to wait for 5 minutes. The behaviour of the receptionist was so rude.
Room quality was good. Cleaningness was there. AC was not working all the time. Phone was also not working, there was also no calling bell. If we need some thing, we had to go tothe reception. Behaviour of the hotel staff was also not good. We ordered 2 bottle of mineral water, but they took more than 1 hour for water. overall experience was very bad.
