The vintage property built years ago has been converted into heritage hotel with an old soul with young and energetic people managing it and located in heart if the city..

Visited Puri early this March and stayed with Mahodadhi Palace for 4days. Had a pleasant stay with cordial staffs at your service at any and every point. They have two very beautiful in-house built restaurant , Bar-On (bar come restaurant on the first Storey of the palace) and Open Air Live Counter Sea View Restaurant. Food is Yum and Really tasty.

Rooms has a vintage charm of its own but yes to maintain that vintage look you really need to look into the furniture kept inside the room (they are not atall maintained well and broken in many cases) which needs attention to maintain is Royal outlook.

The beach is just on the other side of the road, and you can visit anytime in the night(our few mid night visit gave us another unusual feel of Puri - away from the hustle and bustle).

Staff's are extremely well behaved and cooperative.. Mr Gautam, restaurant manager helped us arranging a candle Light dinner and made things more exciting.

They have a nice Swiminng pool and the overall decor is nice. Definitely a good place to stay..

This was the former palace of Maharaja of Panchkot (Purulia,Bengal) and has now been converted to a heritage hotel. Amazing location, right in front of the sea with a huge lawn and an excellent Bar with superb dining. What else do you need.

Mahidadhi palace is made up of red stone and it is the summer house of the raj Panchkot. It is very old heritage hotel with bad maintenance. It looks like antique piece hotel in now a days. The rooms are very old style.

A Palace of the Colonial era converted into a luxury hotel. Every aspect of the heritage is maintained, however the hotel offers all modern day facilities.
We stayed for 4 nights and had a memorable experience.
Front desk staff is always smiling and ready to help 24x7.
Mr.Panda (General Manager) and his team puts all their best efforts to provide the best service for the comfort of their guests.
The hotel has 12 spacoius rooms (6 heritage & 6 heritage suits). If you want a spacious accomodation go for the suits & if you want to enjoy sitting in the balcony go for the heritage rooms.

The hotel has a bar on the 1st floor, a open air evening restaurant & a dedicated vegetarian restaurant serving delicacies from morning to night.
The lawn in front is well maintained with a good variety of seasonal flowers. The lawn in the rear has enough space for outdoor activities. There is a hall in the rear which can be used for conference and functions. Swimming pool is well maintained with clean water.

One area of improvement is the complimentary breakfast, which I felt is little sub-standard when compared to all other services of the hotel.

Overall the stay was enjoyable and will cherish the memories.
A Thumbs Up & 5 Star *****

I have visited Puri again after 14 long years. So many changes I expected, but was worried about my stay. Though people will say "in Puri, you will get plenty of places"; but I wanted a pleasant and comfortable stay on the beach and city market area should be within reach. And I must say, Fort Mahodadhi not at all disappointed me in any aspect. I had travelled with my family as my wife, 2 year old kids and my parents (65+ age) and they are really pleased with the stay and enjoyed the vacation as it should be.

First the location, the hotel situated right opposite to the sea-beach and being an old heritage property, it has got ample open space in front. So even though you are just opposite to the beach yet are far away from the bustling crowd of the market area. The hotel is not that far from the station. We took an auto and reached there in 15 min (just 3 plots after Victoria Club Hotel) and auto fare was Rs. 123.00 (including night charge which is applicable from 10.00 PM - 6.00 AM), and it is pretty nearby to the market place. I would say 10 min walking distance.

We reached early morning (around 4.30 am) at the hotel and was skeptical about if there will be any person to receive us at the hotel having said that the check-in time is 8.00 AM. My all doubt got cleared when I reached the hotel as we received a very welcome greetings from the front-desk person Manas. After a completion of brief formality we have checked-in into our rooms on 1st floor from where you can view the great sight of Bay of Bengal and can feel the comforting breezes.

The rooms were neat and clean and tied up. In bathroom we found all the daily care needs like towels, face wash soap, moisturizer lotions. There was an electric kettle and tea-bags, coffee and sugar sachets. The stuffs were all very courteous. The room services were very prompt. Not a single day I remember, that I had to call up for cleaning up the room or replenish the stuffs for daily care or for tea. Complementary 1 bottle of packaged water was been provided for each day. The rooms though some people would find less spacious but for me it was sufficient enough. Since the renovation work is going on, few areas I have noticed and brought into notice of the administrative people and they promptly fixed it. Like door bolts and cupboard doors etc. AC was working find and so was the TV.

Now coming to the food. I suggest to stick to the foods which are there in the menu card and we will get mouthwatering foods. We tried the Chinese and those were awesome. Though we tried to have the Bengali food and it did not turn out that good. There was the buffet breakfast available at the restaurant, which is complementary and got a plenty of varieties. And these were tasty as well. There was a guy called Sagar he was serving us and took good care of us. The hospitality is pretty remarkable from rest of the restaurant stuffs as well. The location of the restaurant is very good. You can enjoy your breakfast watching the great view of the sea. There was arrangement of the dinner buffet as well but we did not try, rather we ordered as a-la carte to our room. Veg items also we tried and those were also good. There was a swimming pool and Gym on the backside of the property. There was a separate Bar area for those who wants to chill out watching some sports while having there drinks or just sitting on the terrace while enjoying their drinks as watching the Sunset with soothing breezes.

Only negative points which I noticed is that, there was some renovation going on and few stuffs are kept unfinished like tighten up the door knobs/bolts are loose and in cupboard we noticed saw-dust on few rooms. I would like to request the management to look into these area and fix these at the earliest.

Overall it was a great vacation that we spent and I would definitely say, Fort Mahodadhi is a great place to enjoy your vacation at the fullest. Given a chance I definitely would love to stay again here.

The USP of this hotel is its location. All attractions and the beach are a stroll from this property. Its a beachfront hotel in the center of the town and has a old world charm about it. The property is old but has been reasonably maintained. There are some good antiques in the hotel to add to the old world charm. The the terrace is lovely to have a drink and chat during the evening. The staff is courteous but need to be quicker in responding to the demands of the guests.

We stayed at the sea facing wooden cottage on the 1st floor from 12th - 14th Feb 2015. From my first communication with Mr. Ashish Mishra after my booking till the time i checked out, i had a wonderful experience in Fort Mahodadhi. Though the cottage was a bit small nevertheless since there were only two of us, we didn't face much of a problem. However family with kids will not be able to accommodate in the cottages and will have to look for other options. The room was compact yet very tidy with all basic amenities. House keeping was excellent and the behaviors of all the staffs were very cordial. No scope for complain here. The food was good but sadly there was no Bengali cuisine . The open sit out in front of he bar gives and excellent view of the sea. However the building needs a little more maintenance. Management should take this issue on a serious note. Special thanks to Mr. Ashish Mishra , Mr.Saagar and the gentleman who used to be in the front office in the night shift of my stay

We booked the hotel via GoIbibo in November 2015. This was our 4th visit to puri and we stayed in different hotels every time. We also travelled lots of places in India and stayed in numerous hotels. But never in my life, I have seen this kind of poor hotel.
The hotel looks so well maintained and gorgeous from outside with a long driveway adding extra glamour to it. We booked fort deluxe room and made full payment on GoIbibo. But the room was extremely dirty. The walls had patches and black marks everywhere and lighting was too little. The washroom included bathtub which was rusty and dirty. Room was full of mosquitoes and extremely unhygienic. Intercom facility was unavailable. All of us were ladies, and we really felt insecured in the hotel as various kinds of boarders were there and rooms were too gloomy.
We booked the hotel for 3 nights. But we were forced to leave after spending 1 night only. We couldn't sleep that night due to mosquitoes. The most strange thing is, when we told the reception that we want to checkout at morning, he called the manager and the manager immediately told him that it's OK!!! It seemed that he doesn't even care whether we stay or leave bcoz we payed the total amount in advance due to online booking. We lost our whole booking amount as they denied to refund it to GoIbibo.
Overall the experience was pathetic. This is the worst hotel I've ever seen.
I would request everyone to avoid this so called "Fort" as its unhygienic, unhealthy and insecure for women. If possible, I would rate it -10 or even less. 1star rating is too much for such a miserable hotel.

Stayed in the hotel for two nights (10th and 11th Jan 2015).

Positives about the hotel
1. Location: Across the road to beach. So can go to beach easily and at any time.
2. Staff: Very courteous and helpful
3. Food: Had only breakfast in the hotel and their breakfast spread was limited but nice

Negatives:
1. Rooms: Very small rooms. 90% of the space in the room is occupied by bed, which by the way is not king size.
2. Lighting: Room lighting is not appropriate. Atleast our room was very dark even after getting the light changed with higher watt light
3. Facilities: There is not even an intercom available in the room. So if you want to order anything you need to walk to their restaurant to find someone to place an order
4. Crowd: This might have to do with the purpose of my visit (pilgrimage) but the open sitting area where people were smoking and drinking was not to my linking.

Dear Sir, Greetings from Fort Mahodadhi - A Beach View Heritage Hotel !!! It has been our privilege to have you at Fort Mahodadhi, Puri. Thank you so much for providing your valuable feedback on our services. Your encouraging comments will definitely help us for betterment and strive for the excellence. You have truly pointed out the positive and negative points which I have shared with all our head of the departments. We all are really thankful to you for your beautiful comments. Here I would like to mention that the room in which you have stayed was a newly built wooden cottage and definitely it is smaller in size. But we actually have large Fort Deluxe and Fort Suite rooms in the main Fort Building. Since your booking was made for the cottage and we were absolutely sold out during the period of your stay, we could not able to upgrade or change your room to the higher category. We regret on the inconvenience caused due to the intercom which was temporarily out of order and to rectify the same we have installed a new EPABX for our guest convenience and the intercom is working fine now. We look forward to welcoming you back at Fort Mahohdadhi on your next visit to Puri and assuring you of our best services and attention at all times. Thanks and Regards, Ashish Mishra

Not much of a difference. I think the bed will be a constraint to accommodate 2 adults and 2 children. The hotel is never noisy, atleast that is what I felt until and unless you are out of luck and have very loud co-guests when you visit. So, the restaurant will not be an issue. However, I feel, you have better options around until and unless you are already attracted by the words 'heritage' and 'fort'. Believe me, you might be disappointed!!!!!
