Actually the Assam Jatri Nivas is run by the Panda's of jagannath temple. They will offer you room for 3 days @ Rs120/day and from the 4th day the room rent are increased to around Rs 600/day. Even though one can get lured by the idea of getting a room for just Rs 120/day but it is just a trap laid by the greedy Panda's/ Priest to bring people and extort money from them in the name of Worship!!! There are many other Dharamshalas in Puri and one can get the information from the link http://www.shreekhetra.com/accomodation.html . Assam jatri Niwas is just being made to extort money from simple assamese people, I feel one should look for all other options before booking a room there.

The on-line booking was accepted.A person was deputed to receive us at the Rly Stn.A nice gesture.Though the 3 day stay at the lodge is free,the charge due to annabhog etc.which may go up to 1800/- is almost compulsory and as the stay is free,you don't have much bargain on this. Rooms are good but daily cleaning or changing of bed sheets are not done.Be ready to shell off another 600-700 for the panda who receive you at the stn and cleaner who just clean the room may be once.Its an average lodge one may try it.

There are lots of hotels in police Bazar region in shillong which is heart of it. A new hotel in the name of HOTEL ISLAND PARK REGENCY came up very recently. Comparatively cheap. Deluxe twin bed Rs. 2300/- with free breakfast. Very clean and nice environment. Air conditioning is not required in shillong.

Worst experience. Worst behaviour of receptionist/manager and other staff. Do not book. They did not provided an extra pillow after offering extra payment. Terrible experience. Unable to provide tea in the evening time. They said that the time was for preparation of dinner, so they will not provide tea.
