This place doesn't qualify to be called as a Resort. 1st of all their website doesn't mention the extra charge that they levy for transport and mandatory sightseeing. This, you'll come to know once you've booked rooms with them and they'll send you an sms informing about the additional cost. Since we arrived during an off season we were charged Rs. 3000 for the following 3 things: 1. The pickup from Satpada to the island. - Rs. 1000 2. The drop from the island to Satpada. - Rs 1000 3. And Rs. 1000 for sight seeing, dolphin watching and Rajhans, which you cannot opt out off. The worst part of the sight seeing is that they take you to the resort from Satpada via the dolphin sighting route and charge you for it. The second thing about the sight seeing is that Rajhans is just accross the lake where you can see it and it take max 10 mins in boat. So we were charged Rs 1000 for these. The peak season price is supposed to be Rs. 2500 for each of the items mentioned above. So, plan your trip accordingly. We booked 2 standard AC rooms for 1 night but we checked out the same day itself. When we checked in (around 12pm) we were told that they've upgraded us to delux AC rooms. The rooms were tiny and in bad shape and it's really depressing once you enter them. So I was wondering in what state the standard rooms would be in. The toilet in one of the rooms wasn't working and there was a hornets nest in the washroom of the 2nd room. Toilets weren't clean either. When we called them to confirm if there's a swimming pool in the resort they confirmed that they have one. They never mentioned that it's not in usable condition. When we entered after checkin I asked them about the pool and they pointed to something which looked like a natural pond (not made with the regular blue tiles) which hadn't been used since ages. Our plan revolved entirely around the swimming pool as there utterly nothing else to do in that place. This place is only suitable for people who are planning to just sleep for the night and not spend quality time at the resort. The only reason for me to give them even a single star is because it's mandatory, the staff seemed hospitable and the food was good (not great).…
1. While booking there is no information that you have to pay mandatory extra 3k to reach resort. To see dolphins and bird feeding and island beach visit its only 1.8k via boat booking counter. Seperate boat. But here they charge you 3k and without paying it they will not take you to resort. 2. Wrong Room booked - MMT booked lakeview deluxe cottage for around 3.5k but the resort gave normal cottage worth of 1.5k. Resort manager told Lake view cottage is not available but it was empty when i checked. There was an heated arugment followed that I recorded in a video. They dont know how to talk to guests. All dont talk English and all of them are not educated to be in hotel industry. None studied hotel management course. 3. In Tripadvisor its written complimentary breakfast. But no such complimentary. Meals is 700rs. all are very expensive. (food is tasty which is only good part) 4. Whole of Odisha is same which is pathetic. 7am is checkout time. mandatory to leave 7am but MMT voucher says 9am. They told us to leave at 7am. 5. By evening there were 10 guys who came and started drinking in the restaurant. There is not single woman in the island. Its scary to be there with wife and kids. If you want to visit chilika lake to see dolphins and birds, go directly and book boat tickets. dont waste your time in booking resorts there. another good thing is the island which is in forest dept control. Its clean with shells and sand. you can spend good time in beach. but for that dont get into trap of such gadang resorts. Dont deceive wit pictures online. No maintenance and its very old place. Rooms also not modern. Toilet commode was coming out. not fixed properly. dont call it resort. I regret visiting this.…
We spend 2 nights last February with the family. Very peaceful place, beautiful surroundings (beach, lake...) the cottages are very well equiped (nevertheless, mattresses a bit hard, would need to be changed...!).. We were alone in the resort, no other tourists... it was very peaceful. Personnel is very kind and helpful, we had very good food and even celebrated my husband's birthday with cake and candles !!! Don't hesitate to stop in this place, it is a very nice experience.
The hotel is situated at Chakratirtha Road and so is a little distance away from the hustle & bustle of the town. If you are looking to spend a quiet time by the sea, you can check into any sea facing front side room in the hotel as all of them offer fantastic views of the majestic sea. The beach below is less crowded & more clean when compared to the beach at Swargadwar.
Our family had a wonderful stay at Daaven's Eco-Lodge on Chilika Island and definitely recommend it as a quiet, friendly place to get away and experience this unique lagoon. The lodge is located on the back side of the small Chilika Island. The private boat ride there from the public jetty in Satapada is about 40 min, however we stopped along the way to view some of the 500 Irawadi Dolphins that live in this brakish water "lake". In front of the resort is the long barrier island that separates the lagoon from the main Bay of Bengal. Nirmal, the resort's manager took us on a day trip across to that island which has a beautiful long sandy beach that was completely empty for miles. During the right season though it fills with thousands of sea turtles laying their eggs. The best part of the lodge was the home cooked family style meals. So good! Fresh crabs, fish that we caught off the boat, and wonderful curries. The rooms / "cottages" themselves are simple but functional. There were zero mosquitos when we were there, though it was hot enough at night that they turned on the air conditioning (and the noisy / non-eco diesel generator that it required). The entire staff were extremely welcoming during our entire stay. Communication was clear and easy, with their general manager Mr.Suryakant Sahoo being so helpful on WhatsApp setting up our while booking, and arranging a car to transport us from Puri to Satapada to meet their boat. Overall, just a great, quaint laid back experience. Please Note: our family has relied heavily on honest reviews over the years, so in the interest of giving back to the community we are cross posting this review here and on Google…
