Rosaville Shillong gives you an aura of a colonial era. Very aptly done with wooden flooring and a well decorated lobby with a decorative fireplace. The staff is very well behaved and ready to help.. If you want a tranquil stay away from the hustle and bustle of down town this is your place of retreat provided your can bear with a few cons.. The interiors of the room are aging and needs massive renovation , the geyser and heaters and do not work properly and especially during our stay on 23rd Dec , the weather at Shillong needs this as essentials . The cold almost deprived us of sleep. The resort is understaffed , though the staff behavior is very good and they serve delicious homely food based on your choice and you have to order early , since its more of a homestay than a hotel. This property has a potential with it structure and beauty provided the management renovates the same. If you are out of options this can be a choice.

Stayed for two nights at Rosaville in Oct 2014. It is a hotel carved out of a stand alone, single story, residential property. Built on a large plot, it has five rooms.Rooms are large and furnished with period furniture and photographs but refurbished toilets. Linen provided was clean and replaced on demand. Catering is done in house with help from a residential kitchen staff. Service is good and chef has sufficiently good culinary skills. It has separate dinning hall and a drawing room along with a large verandah, facing rising sun as common areas. This place could be like by those who love quite solitude. Check the tariff before you actually plan to stay there..

The property is really beautiful with a lovely garden. However, the horror story started on the first night as we arrived. We had taken two rooms for the three of us. In one of the rooms the mattress and pillow was wet! Not damp-wet! The sheets and curtains looked like they hadn't been changed in weeks. The walls were grimy and quite unlike the pictures we had seen. The ancient TV in my room only showed spotted images. Everything was bordering on shabby and decrepit. Ancient smelly carpets. The wind would keep blowing the branches of the bamboo trees onto the roof the whole night and with no other guests around, it was quite eerie. The staff are quite helpful but the cook is not to be believed with regard to his culinary abilities. Complimentary breakfast is nothing great. Either you get veg. sabji puri/paratha or omlette so if you have a veg and non veg. people, it's a problem. Juice is just coloured water. The Manager's assistant is there for a short while every day and tried to be helpful. The Manager, Mrs. Bawri, who does not stay on the premises was welcoming on the first day we arrived. However, the next day she was rude and interrogative on our return from a jaunt in the town (God knows why) and after that ( we were there for about 4 days) she never even came over to ask us if we were comfortable, though she used to be on the premises in the evening and there were no other guests. Rotten hospitality. Rosa Baruah, the owner, who lives in Mumbai should be aware of this. I'ts a lovely old building with history and character but if it is maintained properly, they'll get a lot more business. No single occupancy charges-you just pay double. There's a bad tempered dog, Badal, who is kept locked up in a tin shed but left to roam around at night so one has to be a bit careful. There are shops around-medicines, small restaurant - Neef's, as well as the shared taxi stand & bus stop. One good thing-24 hours hot water.

Its a perfect getaway place far from the hustling Shillong town and the owner Jason is very young and a great host. He understands hospitality at its best. We stayed in the ground floor of the main building - 2bhk apartment and he set it up for us so beautifully. The bedrooms were well equipped with beddings, blankets, towels, hangers etc. Washrooms had tooth paste and soap. Kitchen was fully equipped too with Tea, coffee, sugar, salt, oil, pepper, maggi packet. They don't serve food however u can ask Jason to get some items from market and pay him. Room average rate is 2500 per room per night and by far best place I stayed in Shillong

If you want to stay in a heritage property that makes you feel the property is not touched since 1960 and want to experience following, its a place for you: 1. spiders and spider webs on the walls, near bed, curtains etc 2. lot of dust on the furniture 3. stained bedsheets and covers 4. curtains and sofa so dirty and dusty showing they are not cleaned since years 5. Room full of ants. 6. Dustbins full of waste from previous guests.
For all above, when we informed the lady in charge, we were told the following: 1. "What do you mean, the room is not cleaned, the cleaner was here till 5pm in evening". 2. "We let you checkin at 12am in night, you should be thankful" 3. For all insects in room, she said "thats heritage" 4. For dirty, dusty curtains, bedhsheets etc, she ignored and said will inform the cleaner tomorrow. 5. When I gave her the feedback during checkout, she again started showing her attitude and went to a male member of the group and said "I feel ladies should not talk to each other"
Staff is good but the LADY in charge is extremely rude and makes you feel she did you a great favor by giving you an accomodation.

It is a royal heritage home with beautiful interiors. Rooms are very spacious, clean and well maintained which gives you feeling of being royally treated. Staff are very helpful and welcoming. Mr. Mohan Kumar who is the manager of the hotel was always around to help and ensured all our requests were attended promptly and equally. Food was very tasty and the cook was ready to cook whatever we asked him to cook also food was served hot on plate. Beautiful garden and royal stay made our 3 nights stay wonderful and memorable.

This is an excellent heritage property. Very well maintained and well decorated rooms, living and dining rooms. It has a big garden with various flowers and few very old Pine trees. Staff are very courteous and caring. The food is also excellent. They cooked exactly the way we wanted our food. The manager, Mr Sharma is also very cooperative and takes good care of the guests and the property.

The photographs and few reviews were encouraging and we decided to stay here.I stayed here with my wife and three college going children. The property looks nice from outside , isolated and away from the congestion and pollution. But, the service is the worst that you can ever imagine. The manager and hotel staff ,behave , as if they are obliging by allowing you to stay there.During the peak season, in the month of June, we were the only guests, staying there. The manager, left the hotel by 7 PM, saying that he is already late and he does not stay after 6PM. When we checked in,and sat on the bed, it cracked and shagged.Let me tell you,I am a normal guy and not over weight. When I called the boy, first he refused to acknowledge that anything was wrong. On persistence , he raised the mattress , and it was seen that the longitudinal beam had fallen and bed had sunk. Casually, he said , it is not serious,he will put it in place. I told him, I did not like to take risk and since his hotel was empty, he could change the room. To this he said, that the manager had left,he cannot be disturbed now.Without the permission of the manager, the room cannot be changed. The hotel does not serve you food in the room. Our children liked the decor of the hotel and were taking photographs of the lobby and sitting area. The hotel staff shouted at them that it was already 9PM and they cannot wait indefinitely for them to have their dinner. For complimentary breakfast they serve Poori bhaji and charged for the cornflakes-milk. At the time of check out, when I complained to the manager, about these incidents, he was not bothered. He merrily said that this was management policy and they are not concerned with negative views of their guests. This property can become worth staying, only if the management decides to change the entire staff and the manager. Till then stay away from here. There are many better options available in Shillong.
