We booked the guest house for 12 to 16 Aug 2017. The rooms were in the mess. So dirty... The linens were not clean. Bathroom was so dirty. The bungalow has good interiors but just not maintained. the living room was stinking.. with rotten bananas...the rooms allocated was stinking... Giving all sort of excuses... So that night we could not sleep.
Breakfast: there is no cook... One guy called ashfaque mentioning he doesn't know cooking... So he asked me to help him in kitchen which I didn't refuse but next day everything changed he said we don't give u anything in the breakfast apart from bread and omlette. With lots of explaining managed to make tasteless poha.
Today, being 15th Aug... The breakfast was not ready.. I had to go to the kitchen to cook. I asked to keep the plates on the table the girl (Anna) who takes care of the house mentioned I dunno where the plates r...I had bought some fruits.. I asked them to cut it but they refused saying there is no one free.. I literally made the whole breakfast today for my old parents in Kent and I twill guest house. For water also u have to call them to give u some water so while having breakfast one needs something u have to go to hunt someone to help. Before booking I had mentioned that my mum is a Jain? Will u manage it? Ashfaque said.. yes dt worry. So the service is really bad. The beautiful guest house needs to be maintenance. There is only one person who takes care of every one's food... Anna just doesn't even won't care if the guest is cooking or in the kitchen. Today I was making the breakfast Anna saw me and walked off... Upon asking . She said it's not my Dept I dunno. There is no sense of responsibility...
I just wish Tomo we get decent breakfast. When u asked why so tasteless ? Standard answer from past 3 days mkt closed..
I request the management to look into the issues that I am facing. I didn't want to fight with the staff members so, request management to look into the Issues...
The house is charming, well-placed in town (not plumb central but not outskirts, either)
The guys in charge gave us breakfast on time and a lovely, delicious dinner.
The fireplace was always lit in the nights. There were 3 other groups while we were there but we didn't feel crowded at all.
The place feels a bit colder than it is outside, but the warmth of the guys in charge, and the yum food makes up for it.
Night falls at 5ish in December, so plan to spend quality time indoors.
5 mins walking from taxi stand.
Has indoor activities like carom board and chess.
However, there are a few issues that need addressing:
1. Need for a professional caretaker, who can check whether the plumbing is fine, electric bulbs are working, whether there is water in the taps etc. We had to locate the household early in the morning, wake her up and request her to switch on the pump.
2. Food continues to be a big issue. The wait for food is over 90 minutes. The cook isn't great too. When i asked for coffee, the kitchen was out of coffee. When I asked for tea, the maid was sent to market to get tea leaves! That shouldn't be the case when guest house is running full.
On the positive side, good property, hospitable hosts, knowledgeable about Meghalaya and happy to guide us.
Beautiful ambience. Simple yet elegant.
Excellent staff. Well mannered, polite and helpful.
The best part... It is a pet friendly accommodation.
Absolutely loved the time spent here
