Was a great experience and would definitely want to stay everytime whilst in Matheran. Would recommend this hotel to everyone with decent budget.

Situated about 10 minutes walk from the railway station/e rickshaw stand.. The landmark is the mosque. Hotel board/signage near the mosque is missing. From the mosque take a right and climb up. The hotel is about 5-10 minutes walk from the mosque. Most of the path is tiled except a small portion which is not tiled. There are muddy patches with gravel on the way. Not approachable by a wheel chair. The porters can bring your luggage straight to the hotel from the car park and you can travel on foot, by e rickshaw, by train ( if available), on horseback, or in a hand pulled rickshaw. The location is central as the mosque is situated in the middle of the market. The building is old and some areas need repairs. The reception and lobby itself needs a makeover as most sofas in the lobby are stained and the reception wooden structures are all worn out. There is a lot of seepage in the walls all over, outside and inside and even in the rooms. Rooms are small and there is no space to walk if you have an extra bed in the room. Room has only one single seat sofa to sit for three members sharing the room. There is a balcony in first floor rooms facing the pool {Deluxe Rooms}. Some balconies are closed with glass panes, others are open. But there are no chairs in the balcony to sit. Monkeys run and play in balconies which are not closed. In open balconies they run away with clothes hung for drying. Bath area is also small and appears to be renovated but is always wet as there is no towel mat provided on the floor outside the shower area. The room cleaners do not clean the bath area as there is a separate staff for it who reports at 4 PM so until 4 PM everyday the whole area is wet and there is a danger to slip as well. Only a soap is provided in the toilet. You have to carry your own shampoo/shower gel etc. Hot water is not available 24 hours. There are specific timings for hot water in the bath. at other times one has to ask for a hot water bucket. In the bathroom there is no hook to hang clothes behind the door. Housekeeping response is very erratic. At times the service is provided in minutes and at other times no one picks up the phone. There is no in-room safe, or tea/coffee maker in the room. Breakfast spread is fair. It includes bread ( toasted and un-toasted) is kept in a bowl as there is no toaster provided. Idli/uttapam/upma, omelette/scrambled egg, cereal, papaya/ watermelon, tea/coffee. Monkey menace in eating area is too much so be careful although one person with a gulel scares the monkeys away but still they jump on one of the tables especially those outside in the open. Monkeys can pounce on your table even at night. Lunch/Dinner menu has mutiple vegetarian and two non vegetarian dishes and one/two desserts. The best part of the stay is the quality of food, which is very good. Bar is available on site during lunch and dinner timings Swimming pool, swings for children, TT table, carrom board are available on site. A billiards table was lying abandoned outside in the open. Music (a bit loud) is played every evening with karaoke, musical chairs, magic show etc for the guests. Cheaper rooms are in the basement. Other rooms are on the first floor (pool facing) in the main building. Some rooms in main building (pool facing) have big sitting area in front. Other rooms situated above the pool. There are a few rooms isolated from the main building. Cafe serving tea/coffee/cool drinks snacks is also available on site. There is a small shop in the lobby and a travel agent sits in the lobby. Too many guests check in the hotel on a Saturday and check out on Sunday. So the situation becomes chaotic during dinner time on a Saturday and breakfast time on Sunday. Hotel services are terribly strained with so many people checking in on a weekend. There is a mad scramble for chairs and tables at dinner time. Reception is very erratic after 9 PM, you need to call multiple times for them to take your call. Check in and check out formalities were quick. The staff is good and helpful. One can take room alone with breakfast or take a package that includes the room, breakfast, lunch, high tea,and dinner. Liquor and soft drinks can be bought at the bar. The bar is well stocked and have a wide choice of cocktails and mock-tails to. There is a spa on site for massage.…
