We went to Girivihar for lunch and was treated with some sumptuous food that we had for a long time. We were treated with Dal, paneer (in local masala), aloo (sliced with spices), hot rotis, papad, rice, chaas and two Kala jamuns. We had our hearts full and were wanting for more but no place in the stomach. This place not changed at all. Calm, relaxing, cool, great food.. time stops here.

Very nice place it is more than 100 years old heritage hotel spread in large area green and calm. Located in lap of nature around 600 meters from Matheran railway station. Food served in hotel was top class chef Kaluram is expert in preparing home food to satisfy taste buds. Other staff are very cooperative and caring. Many important pointed in that area can be viewed by walking lake, one tree rock, ram point Alexander point for sunrise, big chowk. Take walk as much as I ne can do it’s best jungle track under shadow of tree. Take plenty of water and enjoy stay with nature.

We had a sumptuous and tasty breakfast of aloo Parathas, Poha and milk at Girivihar. Costed us an avg of 600 for two adults and three kids btwn 4 to 9. We were at the lord's central but found this place more reasonable on rates. We would call the owner before hand and mention the order. She was kind enough to fix us a quick early dinner on request

It’s one of the best and amazing hotel in Matheran. Being away from market it’s a very silent place. One can absolutely enjoy beauty of nature at this place. It’s a hotel with campus. Clean Rooms & Washrooms With All The Facilities. It’s actually a Home Away From Home. And Food Quality And Variety Is Also Yummycious. All Staff members are simply amazing and provides best service. It has become my fix place when I visit Matheran. 👍🏻🙌🏻✌️ One shall surely visit this place and take full enjoyment of it. A Happy Customer. ✌️🙌🏻

Cheap accommodation but quality of rooms is bad. Location is nice not too near nor too far from main market. They have big garden and vegetation is lush. Beware of monkeys as they can come in room to steal food.There were many beds in our room. Blankets were provided but were old.Food options are limited and complimentary breakfast menu was very limited but ok. The table tennis board though is very poorly maintained.

Girivihar is really a "value for money", Location -is good, peaceful, near to alexander point Campus and ambiance- The place is not so luxurious, but is having simplicity - big campus and relaxing environment,pleasing climate and Good food...

Stayed for 2 nights / 3 days recently. Earlier also visited nearly 8-9 times in past since 1977. Excellent and cozy set up, warm, caring hospitality, courteous and co-operative staff, well maintained, comfortable rooms, regular clean up, simple but tasty and healthy meals. The owwner/ manager Smita was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again whenever we visit Matheran next time.

Only single word about Hotel is Awesome. Like a home in Nature surrounding. I have visited this place with family first time. Very nice place and location. Rooms are specious, clean & Food quality is very nice in personal supervision of owner. Co-operative working staff. Enjoyed a lot this tour with this kind of Home treatment, Eager to visit again this place.

I booked girivihar for 2 nights. Location is 20 minutes walking distance from market. Its very peaceful. I would suggest all to stay away from market if u really want to enjoy Matheran. Manager Smita is so helpful nd kind. She made special arrangements in night for candle light dinner. Thanks smita for this. About rooms, they were clean nd cozy. Its not like a hotel, its a holiday home. Food was so tasty. Prefer to take food at hotel. I will love to see u again in rainy season.

First thing The hotel is at the end of matheran,far far away from market place(i.e actual matheran) You will need horse to reach there which will cost around 300cor you have to walk around 6-7 km to reach there. The staff/owner/manager(smita)is too much arrogant.

No Vehicle allowed. All cars & taxi are allowed up to taxi stand & thereafter either walk or hire horse. Distance is around 2-3 kms from taxi stand to Girivihar hotel.
