Hey, I visited this place on Monday 6 May, I must say it is a place with great view of the trees. The place is located in the interiors of Matheran, little far away from the hustle bustle of the market. It is good for people who want to spend some peaceful time with their loved ones. The rooms are nice and cozy and have a very good air conditioning. The food is really tasty and the staff is courteous and professional. I must say it has a beautiful pool . I will surely visit this place again.

We visited matheran definitely at the right point of time, it was second week in may and definitely sun was soarching us crazily in this month down in Mumbai. This is the most nearest, beautiful and the only hill station that is pollution free. It was quite easy to reach this hill station, using locals we aboard into a Karjat train from dadar and we got fown at neral, one can even catch khopoli local train. From here we caught a share taxi which I think took 80 Rs a seat uphill the ghats to matheran main entrance. And here our really journey started, we went trekking all by ourselves to Ashok hotel were we resided for first day. You can even prefer to ride on horses or tongas whatever suits you but you gotta bargain. Also, there is a cooley who can even carry your bags in return of remuneration. Now this hotel is probably the one of the oldest hotel at Matheran, it is quite inside and surrounded amidst forest. I even heard a local saying that he has been here since the day the rent here was 3Rs a day back in 1945. Now that is surprising.. However the area it covered was too huge. it had a reception desk, swimming pool, cottages and room to stay, dinning hall and a small park. The room in which I resided was shared by more 3 of my friends it was a double queen size bed fitted into a moderate size room equipped with electronic like TV and AC. The furniture here was quite basic with a desk and mirror which was not that great since we didn't find emough space to stack our luggage. The bathroom was definitely huge and spacious, the wash basin was provided outside. The hot water comes in morning which we were informed at our doors. Soaps and clean towels are provided as well. Coming to food, it is a buffet system serving meals three times along with tea and biscuits for snacks. Everything is served from one of the best caterers. They have a strict buffet time like elsewhere but they are sweet enough to adjust a little. The swimming pool is damn huge along with kids pools, the water was so clear and clean. The staff here is friendly and helpful. This place definitely makes a serene staycation for a weekend with your family away from all the city hustles

I had recently gone there to spend some time with my friends. Hotel Ashok comes after a long walk after you enter Matheran. You can make your journey smoother by riding a horse, it is the most preferred way. But if you love exercise and don't mind an uphill task then go for a walk. In any case, hotel Ashok is worth the efforts. It has a big swimming pool and is seated amo g dense nature. Recreating sports are available such as badminton. Rooms are both non- ac and ac. We stayed in AC rooms. Non-ac non-deluxe rooms are Rs.1500/- per person per night. You get complimentary breakfast, lunch , supper and dinner. It is good for families as it is a pure vegetarian restaurant.

Matheran, it's a perfect hill station and holiday destination for the people of Mumbai, Pune and some extent Nashik, as it's easily accessible from these cities. Neral is the nearest railway station to reach Matheran. Matheran can be easily reachable by Toy Train or Private Taxi from Neral Railway Station. Matheran has many good and reasonable hotels. During our visit to Matheran we've stayed at Ashok Hotel. Ashok hotel can be the one of the best option for those, who like to surround themselves by nature. Rooms are well surrounded by trees and there are small playing ground for outdoor activities, there are swings and seesaws to chill and feel nostalgic. Ashok Hotel has a small yet perfect swimming pool. Our Hotel Room was perfect for 4 people with 2 beds, though place wasn't much spacious for roam around. Room has a personal toilet and for bath there are both water options were available. Even though toilets were clean yet the Room fresheners was missing. We've got individual complimentary towels and soaps, which were fresh. Room were excellent and has working AC and Fans with fresh blankets. There's a drinkable water and glasses provided in our room. Ashok Hotel serves some excellent food. They've serves 3meals a day. For dine in they've a huge dining hall, where one can witness excellent buffet meals. The staff and services of Ashok Hotel was excellent. Everything was fine and staff was professional and helpful. Overall it was a amazing experience staying at Ashok Hotel, I've spent excellent time, witnessing their delicious food and chilling in Swimming Pool.
