Excellent hospitality with very courteous & helpful staff. Very good veg and non-veg food. Extremely good green cover with lots of trees. Deluxe rooms are OK but luxury rooms are good. Overall a very nice experience.
We stayed at this property from 27th Dec to 31st Dec. Honestly speaking, had made last minute changes to our plans by cancelling the booking in Radha Cottage Matheran and booking at Westend as we had stayed in Radha Cottage earlier and wanted to explore something different. However, this was an awful decision. Westend is not at all a 3 star property. It lacks basic amenities like hot water, proper bathrooms which are clean and neat, proper rooms, proper toileteries, proper beds. Rooms are not at all maintained and the bathroom's stink. Managers (Shailesh and Bijen) are least bothered in spite of repeated requests. The hotel only thrive's on show off and luring traveller's who put their hard earned money in staying at such below par property. Radha Cottage, though it doesnt have a swimming pool or late evening events is a much much better option because they do the basics right. The food at Westend is a nightmare. Food is not at all tasty and quality is bad. If you are non vegetarian, they will kill you by cooking large sized broiler chicken for lunch and dinner daily. In spite of requesting for fish or any other non veg option, they failed to fulfill it and we had no other option but to eat the chicken dishes which were oily, not at all hygienic and tasteless. Housekeeping service is below par - Thanks to the managers at the property who are least bothered. Overall, I would not return to this over hyped property again. It's a total waste of money and not at all value for money. The purpose behind writing this review is for other traveller's to be made aware of what they should expect if they stay at this hotel. For the price they are charging, the resort is very nice. Clean rooms, good location, courteous stafff and well maintained property (except rooms). Rooms are a bit old and needs some maintenance otherwise everything else is good.
Property close to the market. Equidistant from most of the points.Excellent stay, courteous staff, well maintained property. Food also had a good variety. The verandah of our rooms were netted to keep away the monkeys.Good package .Will definitely visit again.
We checked in Westend Hotel, Matheran on 24th May and checkout of on 27th May. I’d try to avoid the location details of the resort, which are covered in the other posts, and would try to summarise our stay experience that had many pros and some cons. ++ Cons- Not Showstoppers, but resolving them will earn that extra half a point to make the entire customer experience -5/5. Phones don’t work- We had mentioned as part of the booking that we’d be checking in late in the evening on 24th May ( after 6 PM IST). However I decided to call the front desk @ 2 PM to reiterate that I’d be coming a bit late. I browsed through their website and called on the numbers as mentioned in the ‘Contact Us’ Section ( from the website # 91-9757 333 786, +91-9969 444 786) . the one ending with 786 was switched off and the other one was unattended. Some one did briefly pick the phone up but the conversation was too short to convey to the front desk about our late arrival. Suggestion – Could you please mention phone numbers that’ll be attended to? Waiting for hot water- Room 23 the water takes ages to heat and some times we need to constantly juggle the flow of the water to keep the temperature to an optimum level lest we get cold water again. The trick was to keep the geyser switched on for 10 min before filling the bucket with hot water, and then again switch on the geyser ( turn off the tap )and wait for 10 mins before filling the bucket again ( Obviously, the capability of the bucket was more and hence more than 2 refills). So if we have three members in a room , it'd take nearly an hour for all of us to have a hot temperature bath. Suggestion- It’d be really nice to have a geyser that’d cater to bare minimum necessity of a quick bath that’d save a lot of hassle and noticeably , time. The Housekeeping woes- The tea, coffee in the room was not replenished most of the times, and we ended up calling the help every time we required something on the table. It’d have been good , if the replenishment was prompt and have been done everyday,. It’d saved the efforts, ours as well the team’s too! Its not a Refrigerator- The small refrigerator provided in each room may be would chill a bottle, but if you want food items to be kept overnight, I’d be sceptical as there are chances of food getting spoilt . Pros Smiling, helpful Reception – Mr Chaphekar and Mr Bijan are available for every person, and they put in extra effort to see that the stay of the pax is hassle-free. Thank you both! Any call to the reception from the toom is attended to promptly, and resolved quickly An entertainer in a Help- Rajkumar (part of the housekeeping staff) is quick, efficient , hard working and jovial. Rajkumar and the team tried to resolve most of the cons listed here, albeit with no so consistent success. However, his and the team’s efforts are much appreciated! The non-functional refrigerator in the room was replaced promptly . Spoilt for Choice- the buffet food spread ( be it b/f , lunch or dinner) was sumptuous, and we were spoilt for choice. The food quality was good, and the service very prompt! Delightful restaurant Service – we Ordered an ala-carte meal and couldn’t finish what we had ordered. I personally despise the thought of wasting food, so I requested Mr Prasad and the Kitchen staff to help me store the extra food in the Kitchen refrigerator. Not only did they keep the food in the refrigerator- they also reheated the food for us, the following afternoon. That was a delightful experience! Outsourced laundry – The website states ‘Laundry Service’ in Home > Amenities section, but just to note that the resort does not have an in house laundry. So the website information is slightly misleading or is incomplete. Would have been good, if the type of laundry service was explicitly mentioned as outsourced. I usually travel light, and carry minimum set of clothes , and I prefer resorts that provide laundry services. Anyways, the type laundry service was not a glitch, on the contrary the agency that provided this service to the resort was prompt, very efficient and very helpful. Overall Experience- 4.5 /5 , and as I have stated if the small glitches in the form of cons are resolved. I wont hesitate to provide 5/5 to the resort. Hotel is good but staff service very slow and veg food test is average owner and manager behaviour is not proper for customer hotel atmosphere is nise some people are give good service overall not give propar service
Very nice hotel at a very nice location. Rooms were very clean and big. Food both veg & Non Veg was very tasty. Had Buffet for all the 3 meals with a variety of options.Hotel service was great. Staff was very very helpful they also helped in booking Horse ride,Buggy and also arranged train tickets. Simply loved the place.
Had a 2 night stay at the hotel , the staff is very polite and extremely helpful, in house pool , dining area and eatery option is quite nice , the view at night is heavenly and indoor/outdoor sport activities plus free fun activities , definitely the hotel I'll recommend
We went to Matheran from 28th to 30th Jan 2022, we had booked this hotel in advance. This hotel is very far from the parking area , but the advantage is you get to go to all tourist the points very fast. the property is clean and tidy , other facilities like Wifi and room service and okok ... swimming Pool is closed due to ongoing Pandemic ... the food on the other hand is really not good... If you are a vegetarian then , I advice you to not to go for this Hotel .. we really didn't had any good choice.. sometime it felt like the morning veg foodwas recycled to make some snacks in evening. If you are a pure non-veg , you will really like here..... The most annoyng thing in Matheran is the monkeys..please take care that you are not walking and eating ... or you will pay a price...…
The rooms were very clean n beautiful, the staff is very co operative n polite , loved the service of each n every one , breakfast was very gud n tasty . N the site was also very beautiful ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️Its was very nyc n pleasant stay .
