The worst experience ever. Don’t even go for free of cost. No facility, terrible staff and service. It’s better to go to lodge type hotel than this. Take risk at your own. I say something and do something else.
I m a films / Serial Director... We were looking for the place in Matheran for shooting of our Hindi Song.... When we entered to Green Hill Resort... I found it's d perfect and awesome location for my song shoot and we did it.... Nice ligthing in gardent in night, Staffs were so coprative... Food was good... Cleen rooms... Over all it was awesome exprenience to visit Green Hill Resort... We will go again there.... 😊
It was a good experience to visit green hill resort, but 2 many monkeys at resort,food was Awesome,place is nice, service is also good,staff is very helpful. water supply was not there in bathrooms. some spots are near resorts.
Those are planing to get these hotel for vacation , please dont waste your time and money , Not proper service given by hotel management , they provide us room at The Wayside Inn which are branch of Green hill resort . Swimming pool is not in working condition, not even DJ night , having whole night light issues
We were there for 2 days nice place but its quite far its good u plan and take the mini train and go rooms are quite spacious they have a bath tub but no geyser and water is quite cold so it total used food is good but lots of money attack cant sit in the gallery to eat also and there is only 1 care taker so service is slow a bit rest its a peaceful trip
It is not a resort and located very far from market, I should mention that it is located in deep forest. travelers may get pain when they will return back from market at night. if you are booking this then ensure that you are in hotel after 6 pm. food was also not in class.
I visited Matheran & booked family executive room in Wayside inn. First of all, the resort is located quite close to Dasturinaka, as compared to other hotels there. The room was good, service was also good. Lots of monkeys roam around the campus in mornings. Food - breakfast & lunch were pretty good. Hygienic food. The prices for package deal was also quite affordable viz. 1500 INR (weekend) per person for food & accommodation. Food was unlimited. So nice place to stay for a picnic getaway. There are some games for children viz badminton, carrom, etc. Worth a visit friends.
I decided to take a short trip to Matheran and solely on account of the holiday season all rooms were running full. Somehow I managed to get a room for three adults in the Green Hill Resort which is a property of the Peerbhoys - the inventors of the Matheran Railway. As I have never been to Matheran and since this was my first trip there I asked the hotel manager and he assured me that old people could be included in the trip. I repeatedly asked him whether it would be ok if my mother-in-law who has recently had a knee replacement surgery could accompany me. Despite informing him of all my drawbacks he stated that rickshaws were available and the resort was twenty minutes by rickshaw. Based on this assurance me, my wife and mother-in-law arrived at Matheran. The FIRST RUDE SHOCK was that the rickshaw that was being referred to by the hotel manager - Mr.Bilal Khan, was a three men pulled rickshaw where the person sits and three men pull the rickshaw up the hill. The roads leading to the resort were pathetic, full of stones, rocks and the uphill climb was extremely scary and painful for my mother-in-law. It took 30 minutes to reach the resort and she was obviously scared, dazed and too tired. As a matter of fact all of us were tired. The cost of this man pulled rickshaw was around Rs.650/- which I had not factored in my budget for the trip. We finally reached the resort and the surroundings were undoubtedly serene and very beautiful. We settled down and the SECOND RUDE SHOCK was the worst of all. The entire resort has been taken over by monkeys who keep harassing you. The moment you get out of the room even to sit on the outside balcony, scores of monkeys around 20 to 30 in number keep screeching out and also sit on the balcony to accompany you. The hotel staff are used to the monkeys and accordingly to them the monkeys will no do any harm. The monkeys know the hotel staff and the moment the hotel staff come to the room all of them jump up on the nearby trees and return the moment the hotel staff leave. My mother-in-law being a senior citizen was scared to sit out in the balcony and we were confined to the room. Even if we got out for a minute the monkeys would accompany us everywhere. I am told that monkeys are common in Matheran. However this particular resort - Green Hill Resort has more monkeys living inside the resort than any other hotel/resort. Being gigantic in size the monkeys are not scared of humans and lunge at any food that they see. Even a packet of chips is not spared. The THIRD AND FINAL RUDE SHOCK for me was the rooms were pathetic. The linen stinked. The toilets had no warm water, no geyser and no basic amenities. The toilets stinked and were indentical to railway toilets. The moment the toilet door was opened the stench entered the room. The only plus point in the entire trip was the food which I must say was EXCELLENT. The cook Mohammed cooks up both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food [just like home food] and room service is also EXCELLENT. The staff are very courteous and well mannered. Seeing my plight the staff did everything they could to make my life a bit easy and put my mother in law to ease. However it was like being confined to jail for two days and we were just delighted to return back to Bombay. Generally after a vacation a hangover persists where one misses the vacation. In my case I am glad to be back home in Bombay. The only thing that we will all remember is the food which was EXCELLENT. PLEASE do not visit this resort. The rooms are pathetic. The monkeys make life miserable and they retire for the night after 7 p.m. I am not against animals and I have friends who have visited the Jim Corbett resort. But I felt that we were staying in the monkey's homes. If you have work in Matheran and leave early morning and come only in the night to crash then this resort is for you, For families with children this resort is a strict NO NO. For old people you'd rather not take them anywhere instead of taking them to this place. Other families that were staying in other rooms were scratched by the monkeys for nothing having shared their food. The serenity, peace and quiet were shattered for all the occupants and it was hell for all concerned the only exception being honeymoon couples who couldn't care less what was happening outside the room.…
We were a group of 4 friends and 3 children, looking for a property with quiet and peaceful surroundings, proximity to market, good food and some fun activity like swimming. The owner Peerbhoy first offered us Greenhill, then moved us to Wayside assuring us of a swimming pool and good food(including seafood) and good rooms with valley view. We got carried away with pics uploaded on the webside and agreed to be put up at Wayside. Our check in experience here was the most horrid in our entire travelling history. There was loud music being played at the reception. They need to be taught that people visit Matheran for quiet and peace and serenity. Moreover we did not get the rooms that we wanted despite having paid an advance when booking. They sold it off to other guests. We moved to some other room type with no good view and finally got the family room with a view of the forest. They made us pay full amount for 2nights stay, upon check in, which has never happened before. This gave us the feeling that something was not right. They feared we would check out early because of their poor service delivery, so they secured their business. We gradually figured out that it was indeed the case. Their service was so poor and delayed that it completely messed up our stay. No sense of cleanliness. No amenities in the room. Wasroom pipes were leaky that made the washroom dirty and wet all the time. No hot water in the tap, even in the mornings. They only do bucket service in the morning and in the evening. Towels provided were dirty and torn. Beedsheets and duvet covers were stained and smelly. Menu was fixed for the day, no choice available. Non veg is a standard chicken gravy with hard chewy uncooked chicken. Veg was manageable. Swimming pool was empty when we arrived. No sort of games or activity available for children to enjoy. No intercom in the room. Have to walk upto the service area/ kitchen/ reception for service requests. Only 3-4 staff all in all...one or 2 in the kitchen, one housekeeping staff and one room service person. The property could have been well maintained and better managed. Its about 30 mins walk from the market. Its amidst a good green patch with valley view. Needs to improve upon Customer Service delivery and provide better amenities and maintain cleanliness.…
