"Kabbe Holidays is one of my favourite places in Coorg. Unspoilt and spectacularly beautiful, the hills are truly alive with the sounds of nature. Breathtaking waterfalls crash down into the valley and the air is so pure and always fresh. Summer, monsoon or winter, Kabbe Holidays is the one place in Coorg closest to heaven on earth."-Prasad BidapaFashion and Image Consultant (Comment from one of our guests)

My family had a relaxing stay during October 15th-18th at Kabbe holidays. If you want to get away from the hustle & buzzle of bangalore, in a serene and calm homestay then this is the place to be! Dilip Sir & Vidya Mam are lovely hosts and make your family feel at home.
Food: Food is really delicious. Infact you can feel it in every meal of the day including desserts. I would rate it as exceptional for both taste and portions. They usually only serve chicken in non-veg as it's acceptable to most guests.
Stay: There are total of 4 cottages/rooms. The deluxe rooms are smaller one where we stayed and can accommodate a family of max 5. It has a futon bed to accommodate kids. The room had white linens and restroom is really clean.
Explore: Chelavara waterfalls is 2 kms away. There is parking space and a point where it's safe for families to get into water. Dilip sir can take you for a plantation walk and one of the interesting things is to get into a natural stream within his estate. The forest checkpost is less than a km away where you can start your trek to either Kabbe hillds or Balekund or a viewpoint. Kabbe hill is a difficult trek and not recommended for families with kids below 10 years.
We loved the relaxing atmosphere so much that we extended our stay by one more night.

My first visit to Coorg and I must say it was an awesome experience.
The beautiful coffee plantation and pepper grown throughout was eye catching. We were a group of 15 and we stayed at Kabbe Holidays a well maintained property by Dilip and Vidya. A lovely couple, so polite and friendly .... We enjoyed their company as much as the place....they made us feel at home ... the food was awesome too. Hot Akki roti’s with sesame chutney was one of the best.
The early morning trek to the mountains was another experience where we felt the clouds so closely almost touching us .. a breath taking view.
A must visit place !

Awesome experience at Kabbe Holidays. Calm and quiet location at a walkable distance from Chelavara falls, stream, Kabbe hills and Kabbe viewpoint.
Clean and comfortable cottages.
Mr. Dilip, Ms. Vidya and team are wonderful hosts who made our stay so memorable with their hospitality. Food served during breakfast, lunch and dinner was delicious and kids really enjoyed the spread.
We would definitely recommend this homestay for anyone wanting to experience Coorg.

Do you need a spark from your exhausting work life and get away from busy cities! Then you have come to a right place. Stayed here with my family for 2 days, had a splendid experience. This place and the food made me feel that I am not away from my home. Me and my family enjoyed lush green trees with birds chirping made us very relaxed. The house was kept very clean. Both inside and outside the house you can enjoy the pleasant view.

I never expected this place to be that amazing until I reached the place ..the road that leads to the place will test your patience ..and you might get irritated ..but its worth the effort ...the calmness of the place and view around is breathtaking. We were a group of 7 ppl ..6 adults and 1 infant .. and we took 1 cottage and a deluxe room ...the rooms are really nice and well maintained ...and the bathrooms are really clean. The hospitality of the owner & their family is really amazing . The food made at the Home stay is really good. We stayed here for 3 nights ... 1 day Dilip uncle took us for a tour to their coffee estate ...but what we saw on the last day just blew our mind off ...the owner's son Carun took us for trek to the hills which is around 30 mins walk from the home stay ...and when you reach the top of the hill ..the view is crazy .the air that you breathe is soo fresh ...we realized that why did we visit places like raja's seat ..which were so commercial. Trust me this is a much better place than those places ...and when you come here dont miss the walk to the hills ..
Overall a really good experience ..and would love to come back .

I have been to some more home stays in Kodagu since I wrote review of this place few years back. This time we went in a larger group - me, my wife, our 2 kids and my parents. The place continues to be as pristine and beautiful as ever. The road quality has definitely improved all through the hills so driving is a delight. The last few kilometers are still a rough patch after you get off the highway but it adds to the rustic and adventurous trip.
The big difference I found this time as compared to last time was that the service had deteriorated. I have been to quite a few home stays and so I am clear that I don't treat such places like a hotel / service on call kind of places. On both days, the morning tea was not served despite getting a confirmation previous night. It's a small thing but for those who run away from the humdrum of city life, it's an irritant when you wake up to a fresh chilly December morning and then keep waiting for the morning cuppa. Even the spread / variety had reduced as compared to my first trip. But I could attribute this to the fact that Dilip and Vidya were not there last time so perhaps the servants went in an overdrive to keep us delighted.
I left an appropriate feedback and very soon I got a call back from Dilip to understand my comments better- so the deep interest in making a good experience for visitors is definitely there.
For the readers, please don't go much by the rating as the place is a 'Must-go' if you love solitude in the hills. My rating more of a comparative of my 2 experiences.

Response from kabbeholidays, Owner at Kabbe Holidays
Responded 5 Jul 2015
Hi Samit, Thank you for review. It is our endeavour to constantly improve the experience for our guests and your feedback is a reminder that we always need to maintain high standards that we have set. As you rightly mentioned, we run a homestay and do not offer room service facilities. Only tea/coffee is served to the room at 7.30 if requested. There has probably been a communication gap on those days between us and our staff.Apologies for this. If you noticed, we also provide tea and coffee bags in the room if you would like to have it before 7.30 am. With regards to the spread, yes our staff did go on overdrive on your previous visit. Our menu and spread has otherwise not changed. In fact, we have added more dishes and variety. We look forward to your next visit and hope to delight you as much we did in your first visit. Regards Dilip & Vidya.

I have visited this place with my in-laws. after hearing very good comments from my collegue regarding hospitality, food etc.
he highly recommended me to visit cabbe. That was the only reason for me to visit this place otherwise I would have never
visited this place. But it turned out to be complete opposite of it.
Cons:
- First of all, Its very far from Madikeri (coorg)..actually you shouldn't conside it in coorg..it actually end of coorg..at
the foot hills of Kabbe hills..if you don't have this hill you can easily reach kerala from there....its actually 320 Kms
from Bangalore and kabbe holidays claim it to be 270 Kms.
- Worst hospitality I have seen from any Coorgi (not to mention they are world famous from there hospitality)
- Road to this place is very narrow..without any clear directions on the way... it was very frustrating to find this place..
i was cursing every moment for choosing this place. my driver told he wouldn't have come here if he knew it was so far, the
saving grace for me was that i also didn't knew this place else driver could have asked some extra money etc..for bringing
him so far without telling him.
- Finally after lot of trouble finally reached kabbe at 4PM (we started fro Bangalore at 7Am). At the end of such a long,
tiring and frustrating trip, I would have expected a nice welcome and good hot food.
But the food served was literally cold, after asking the owner to provide hot food..i receive the comments as you can't
accept hot food at 4 O'clock....thats not how you deal with your customers ...especially in hospitality business.
- At the end of the day..we asked him to provide drinking water in our rooms...another unexpected response...he said the
water is in the lobby you can take it from there....thats disgusting.
- Water in the wash room was muddy..he hasn't taken care to check it out...thats complete turn off.
- food is very pricey, not good to taste clearly not worth your buck...
I wouldn't certainly not recommend it.

Hi Anurag, Thanks for visiting Kabbe Holidays and posting this review . We are open to receiving criticism, as it is our endeavor to continuously improve the experience of our guests. Having said this , we would like to respond to each of your points - Coorg/Kodagu is a district that spans 4102 square kilometres and Madikeri is only the capital of Coorg . Kabbe is one of the last properties in Coorg 45kms from Madikeri and 22kms from Virajpet on the Karnataka-Kerala border . Being a place that's tucked away - it makes for spectacular views and nature at its untouched best . It is 270 Kms from Majestic, Bangalore via Virajpet and 290 kms via Madikeri. It would obviously be more since you reside in Whitefield (Bangalore). It is unfortunate that you say that it was the worst hospitality that you've experienced . It is surprising because we take great care in ensuring that all our guests needs are met . Another guest of ours Mr & Mrs Karajgikar who stayed on the same days as you did and had their dinner with you have written an excellent review. Yes , we are working on putting on more boards to help you to get to Kabbe , if in case the detailed SMS we send proves insufficient. We operate as a homestay and not as a resort or hotel . Having said this , we remember having provided you with fresh Poori's and ensured that the rest of the food was warmed up for you at 4.30 PM although we normally close our kitchen by 3pm. We provide a jug of water in the rooms once a day and we advice our guests to collect any further requirement from the lobby at anytime- .As a Homestay we do not provide room service. There was a heavy rain in the afternoon of your visit due to which the water filter got clogged and some discoloured water may have come in the taps only initially. We are making arrangements to put additional filters to overcome this problem. Regarding the food - We take great pride in the food we serve and the food at Kabbe has been loved and enjoyed by various guests over the years (Please check other reviews). Everyone has their own taste and liking . It is clearly evident that this experience wasn't of your taste .We apologize for the experience that you have had and only wish you were fully aware of what to expect at a home stay . Regards Dilip Chengappa

Quiet and Serene is what came to my mind when i first went there.
The road to get there at first will test your patience, but what lies ahead is beautiful. If you want to get closer to nature and see something that is totally breathtaking then Kabbe is the place for you!
If your a first timer to Coorg, i would suggest you spend only one day here and spend the other days closer to Madikeri or any other place because Kabbe seemed slight far away to the Tourist Attractions and the Road to Kabbe is not very good. (Described Below)
The drive to Kabbe (about 6 Kms from the Main Road) is a Narrow Road which is not very good. We had hired an Innova (6 of us) and the driver would crib and cry about the Road and his car everyday. If your planning to stay in Kabbe for 2 or more days, you should think of hiring a Zoom Car or going there in a Scorpio or any other SUV. Innova not recommended. The only issue with Kabbe is the Road that leads to it, Just perfect otherwise.
As the other reviews mention, the Hospitality is commendable, the service is good and you will feel at home. We were three couples with an Infant and we totally had a rocking time.
Not to miss the trek that the owners would offer to take you for. As a guest you would be hesitant to go for this trek and would be more interested in the "commercial views/attractions" of Coorg. The view is to Die For!!!! You totally forget the world when your at the peak there. Not a good idea to miss this at all.
We stayed here for a total of three nights. We would go visiting places in the day and come back by evening. (Not to miss the stress caused by the Road (6Kms) which took us 20 minutes to get out and 20 minutes to get back to Kabbe)
The dinner is served by 09:00pm - 10:00 pm. If your a late night party/dinner person - you should speak to the owners in advance cause the kitchen shuts early.
In all, a FANTABULOUS experience. Would definitely visit again.
