We had lunch at Kokum, the restaurant at the Hoysala Village resort. We chose traditional Malnad cuisine, which was very good. Ashwini, one of the ladies working at this resort took very good care of us. We came upon this place by chance , enroute to Bangalore from Kabini and Belur Mutt. We were given a traditional welcome with kumkum and flowers. All the servers and staff were dressed in traditional attire, silk saris for the ladies , and kurta pajamas for the men. This added to the atmosphere of the place , along with the decor , which included shining copper ware, wall hangings and lamps.

Been visiting this resort for over 12 years and have seen the quality of service going down due to cost cutting in staffing. Poor paid unprofessional trainees all around with arrogant management. Buffet is overpriced with little or no local cuisine.no wonder as cooks are from the north. The staff at the buffet could not explain anything - wonder what the managers were doing in the briefing. As the say if you pay peanuts you get monkeys. Pool is small it was made for a smaller hotel but now has doubled in rooms inventory, Rooms were spacious and comfortable but the resort has little else to offer.

This village type hotel/resort, whatever you want to call is, is well laid out in Villa style. Room and furnishings are rustic but very comfortable and adequate space. Staff is very attentive and informative. There is a ceremony at departure time as well as cow worship in the morning. Breakfast is almost exclusively vegetarian and is served on a clean and washed banana leaf. Traditional South Indian food is served by the staff. Excellent preparation, presentation and taste. At dinner we were offered buffet rather than a-la-carte meal. There were about 18 vegetarian dishes and about 2 non vegetarian dishes. Freshly cooked bread was excellent.
