Detailed Reviews
Going back to the roots!
Everything about this place is truly rich and traditionally Indian. Appreciate the owners true beliefs and capturing the authentic South Indian flavor.
During this pandemic the place is surreal with chirping of the birds and densely covered vegetation.
We had booked this place as we wanted a weekend getaway from the Covid burn out. From the point you enter, the welcoming of the staff and the personal sanitizing with herbal water is a great experience.
Good care has been taken about social distancing and with 50% occupancy you feel that you are in one of the safest place to be in the present situation for a good holiday. Food served on plantain leaves true to the name and culture of a Village resort.
We stayed at the Malnad palace suite for 2 nights, rooms are very spacious and huge toilets with copper bath tubs adds to the overall palace experience.
Overall a great experience and highly recommended for a safe and pleasant stay.
Cheers team Hoysala!

We stayed here for 2 nights during our tour of India.
Our room ,some distance from the reception and the road was in a small block of 4 ground floor rooms with a further room above. Room was a bit dark but had everything we needed, comfy bed, fan and aircon, tea and coffee making but no fridge or in room safe. Light switches and controls were placed wierdly behind the bed. Room had a sitting room with a view of dense trees. Bathroom was very old and needed the hot water to be switched on 15 minutes before you required it. Hot water ran out one eveing. Room did need a deep clean especially light switches and the kettle as all were stained/dirty. Sleep was good as resort is quiet.
Swinmming pool looks nice.
Food was fine, evening buffet and lunch buffet however we ordered from the menu at lunch time as buffet was just too much. Buffet food was good and fresh bread section great. There were a number of large groups staying whilst we were there which made breakfast a bit long as everyone was waiting for eggs/toast/coffee.
Staff everywhere were great, always speaking and smiling. Lovely welcome at check in. We had music both evenings and endured (?) the managers singing on one evening. Lovely man.
No WiFi in rooms just in and around reception.
Would have liked a fridge in the room as we had a lovely sitting area where a cold drink would have been great on our return from sightseeing.
Friendly place outside of town with nothing close by. Would stay here again.

This was our( my husband and mine) first stay outside our home for our 1 year old boy. We were very happy with the cleanliness maintained in the resort. We were initially very paranoid seeing our little boy roam around everywhere, touching the floor, trying to roll on the surfaces, sit in nooks and corners in the room but when we found that the resort was cleaned very frequently and also the rooms were kept very clean we felt relieved. Especially in times of COVID19 hygiene was maintained very well. At night
the resort becomes very dim so we need to be doubly careful before letting our toddler on an exploration spree. The rooms are dimly lit to give a cosy feel but with a baby we need to have bright and lot up space. Upon request Ms. Selvi helped in changing the dim lights to brighter ones and she was very friendly and accomodating with our baby also. She showed us around the property even when it was dark and made us feel comfortable. Later during the day Ms. Mamta took us around to show the other rooms and villas. The architecture is extremely well done and stays true to its name. We could see the richness in the architecture reminding of the ancient art. Well carved wooden structures and handmade paintings added an extra appeal. The resort is extremely calm and beautiful with trees and exotic plants around that make it an amazing place for all the birds to flock and flutter. Definitely brings us close to nature. Our baby explored a bit on the grass and pathways but otherwise there isn't much to do with a baby. We explored Halebidu and Shettihalli church during our stay here. The food prepared was good and we could also give it to our baby. Though the menu is not very elaborate, the preparation is very good. Portions served are very sufficient. Breakfast buffet is very good. The hotel staff were also very friendly and helped in accomodating our needed for the baby. This place pays a rich tribute to our culture and heritage. Wifi is not available in the rooms which disconnects one even more from the hustle and bustle. We also got a chance to have a friendly interaction with the owner of the resort, Mr. Alwa who explained to us about the resort and the essence behind building this place.
With a toddler scope for activity is a little limited but I heard that they are expanding their facilities. Hope to stay here again in the future.

+1
After quite a deliberation to stay in one of the finest places, I shortlisted Hoysala Village Resort and as soonas I entered the property, I was not pet down by my expectations.
I booked the Palace Suite, and went with my family. From the welcome, to the room it was as pleasant as it can get.
As soon as you park your car and enter the premise, you start linking all the photos available online and it pretty much resembles as-is.
The reception is well laid out and gives you a traditional feel, they help you clean your hands with traditional vessels and explain you well
The rooms are quite big, yes it does have place to walk around and doesn't end with the wall on your face. There was absolute silence and you get to see the richness in the rooms, the silk wall banners, the lighting.
The room charges includes lunch, dinner and Breakfast. I have 2 kids, they charged for the elder one who was 8 years old, very nominal.
All in all a one day well spent.
We also took the Bullock car ride, a small enjoyment for the kids.
I would like to thank Manjula, who guided, helped us with the property, arranged everything for us. Thanks Hoysala.

We stayed for 3days in the resort, initially had a thought whether to travel and stay due to this pandemic.
The resort authority confirmed about the sanity of the place upon which decided to visit.
Post we reached the place i personally realised they are taking atmost care and all the staff were wearing mask and gloves and every time they were sanitizing.
1st to say as the name suggests you will get a complete village experience, perfectly planned and build actually short of words to describe the beauty of the resort. You will find some of the exotic plants and trees there.
We just loved the staff they are very friendly and well mannered, and help you with whatever you ask.
As soon as we arrived they served with a kashaya which was a great to keep up with your immunity, the food is amazing, they will serve you with authentic village food, and high nutrients food which include millets fresh fruits and also to mention the water they serve is hot water with cinnamon and clove, which again is very good for health.
The rooms were clean and safe, just loved the beautiful architecture of jacuzzi rooms and THE PALACE it's specti we enjoyed the stay.
The most important thing which i personally liked is that they carry the authenticity of our culture, every morning they do pooja to cow which is sheltered in the resort, the food it's just not the regular idlis and dosas they have included delicacy from around the state.
Overall a beautiful stay.
Thank you 😊

Conveniently located, delicious local delicacies at the generous buffets (included in the price) and live cultural performances of good quality including a fusion carnatic - jazz saxophonist. The room was nice with traditional wood furniture but the shower floor was dirty at the edges , as was the bucket handle and the soap dish holder. The sink was cracked and number of towels was minimal.

For a quiet getaway to Belur & Halebid. Very conveniently located just outside Hassan and with easy access to the temples at Belur & Halebid this is just the place to stay.
The resort is well laid out with huge tree cover and as green as green can get. You could spend half a day just exploring the resort grounds. There seem to be a lot of birds around as well. Unfortunately it rained most of the time we were there so could not take time to walk around. The resort is spread out with a choice of rooms. We opted to stay in the Palace suite. Booking tip, book directly on their website I found the best rates there. Take the full meal plan it is worth it. If you are traveling with family this is a very good option.
The room is very large, well vented and a huge bathroom with a copper bathtub. Note internet connectivity is quite patchy in the room, so take a book or board games. It is an awesome digital detox for kids.
The food is one word “Superb”. If you are on a full meal plan, if the resort is not full, you can order what ever you want(other than sea food) al-a-carte. They are more than generous is allowing you to order quantity. When there was the buffet as well there was a good spread of local cuisine. The breakfasts are by far the best. Coupled with old world attentive service it adds to the experience.
There are other activities which the resort offers. We could not swim but did play ludo, snakes and ladders and carrom. Again a welcome distraction for those traveling with kids.
The service all round were very attentive. Right from the check in to check out, to someone waving you off on your return journey it redefines hospitality. All in all a lovely place to kick back and relax.

The resort is well maintained and has a lot of cultural significance. It is very homely and the doors and flooring have unique designs and excellent colours. The staff are very accommodating and friendly. Breakfast is served traditionally, with plantain leaf and a variety of home cooked dishes which is really a delight. Lunch and dinner too have nice north Karnataka local dishes that are not available outside. Special thanks to the owner for spending time talking to us. Also Pooja at front desk was extremely helpful. The restaurant staff Vasanth Shetty, Keshav, Guru and Rahul made the dining experience very fulfilling. John Kennedy too extra care to show us the property along with Pooja. Overall an amazing experience.

We had the chance to visit Hoysala Resorts on 10.11.2020.
The entire location is built with attention given to every detail. The place seems like an extract from traditional Mangalorean History.
The staff are extremely courteous and down to earth and have a detailed knowledge of every element including the use of each and every plant.
Lunch is prepared and served in the traditional fashion on banana leaves and the desserts are also perfect.
Rooms have a pleasant calming feeling and the chirping of peacocks lightens up the environment.
If you want to experience traditional south Indian culture in luxury, this is THE PLACE to go.
Overall, to experience traditional India in luxury, this is the place to go and is also an ideal location for weddings and destination weddings.

Conveniently located on Belur road, Hoysala Village resort was our first choice when we planned to visit the nearby temples of Belur and Halebidu.
Upon arrival and much to our surprise, we were greeted with a traditional Indian welcome and a Garland of flowers. We were quickly taken to the waiting lounge and handed our welcome drinks - some Ragi malt in a clay tumbler! While my friend busied himself with the check in formalities, I chose to sit back and take in the grandeur of the space with its beautifully patterned tile floorings, bright wall colours, intricately detailed woodwork and classical furniture. The decor I imagine, reflected the architectural style of the Hoysala empire.
We were checked in within no time and quickly whisked away to our rooms with the ever-smiling staff accompanying us along the way. As we walked along the winding path, the manager was kind enough to explain all the species of vegetation they had planted throughout the resort. The luscious greens and attention to landscaping in all the available nooks and corners, quickly transports you away from hustle of the city as you make your way deeper into the property.
We had booked the palace suite for ourselves, and boy we felt like Kings! The suite was elaborate with a compact hall, a large bedroom and a lavish bathroom. The bathroom with its copper tub deserves special mention here. The bedroom was spacious and well planned.
We had made it just in time for the lunch buffet. It was an elaborate spread with Indian dishes and a few continental dishes. The fare was authentic and delicious. Full points to the chef!
After a sumptuous meal, we set out to explore the temples of Belur and Halebidu. The staff guided us well and ensured we didn't miss the Lakshmi Temple and Belavadi temple (both must visits!).
We got back late in the evening and were able to catch the classical dance performance. It was a good platform for youngsters from the nearby academy to showcase their skills, and an entertaining evening overall. Visitors of the resort will appreciate and enjoy such events, especially since they might not find the time to experience them otherwise.
It had been a long and tiring day, and I couldn't wait to head to the spa. The next 60 minutes were pure Bliss as the masseuse worked his magic to rejuvenate those aching muscles, via a full body ayurvedic oil massage. It was the perfect end to an eventful day.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the resort and would definitely recommend it to everyone planning a visit to the area. Courteous staff, Amazing hospitality, beautiful architecture and a chance to experience royalty!

Yes, you can pop-in to the restaurant just for lunch/dinner without having booked an accommodation. Many folks traveling from Chikamagalur/Mangalore to Bangalore frequently do so.
Hi,
There are no much activity for a toddler. But you can spend time at the resort itself. We dint go for village walk so would not be able to answer on that.
Regarding restaurants, there are no other nearby restaurants and you may have to go to city to find one. The weather is quite hot at present.
August it is not as hot and likely hood of rain is less too. Ancient temples of Belur , Halebidu, and lakshmi temple are amazing these are from Hoysala dynasty and built around 12 century.
Shravanabelagola is iconic lord gomateshwara. All these are about Half to an hour drive away.
