We had booked for 2 nights stay, wish we could have extended by another 2nights. If you are seeking a beautiful place up in the mountains, with absolute peace and serenity, this is the place for you. We reached pretty late in the evening after an arduous 9hour drive, but since we had informed earlier, hot dinner was ready on arrival. Secure parking is provided. The beauty of the place we could see next morning. The view from the kothi of the majestic snow capped mountains in front, rising mightily above the valley and the Beas river is simply breathtaking. The location of Himalayan Kothi Kai's is it's USP. It is situated about 3km drive up from the valley in the village of Kais. We had all our meals here, and the food was simply delicious. The prices are slightly on the higher side, but that is to be expected in a boutique property as this. Staff was courteous and very helpful. However, some small attention to detail in the room (a light not working, no spoon in the tea/coffee arrangement) would make it just perfect. And perhaps a bit more light in the room. Overall, we are glad we stayed at this property, and would hope to come back again for the magical experience.

Thank You for suggestions , yes this place has helped heal the souls of a lot of people who wish to get away from the clutter and chaos of modern day living . When I was a child I had read a story of Heidi going way high above to the home of her grandparents up in the mountain meadows . The building has also bee constructed using the materials of wood and stone , offers the positive energy of the Himalayas to flow into the open mind and heal and rejuvenate the spirit within . One hardly gets time for self and this place is a hide out for all such guest looking away for time with self .

Kothi Kais is situated in a great location which offers wonderful views. It is infact a small building on hill top with 5 rooms which was constructed using the local traditional building techniques. The location is very good - with an elevated place with great views and with a apple orchard in the backyard hill. The construction of the building is on local kath kuni architecture which makes the building look pretty. We booked a deluxe room but we didint like the upper room which has a lower roof and so we decided stay in the ordinary room which is on ground floor. The tariff is definitely on the higher side and we also felt the food cost is quite on the higher side too. Go there to enjoy the natural beauty of the location and dont expect much hospitality. But we felt that for moderately higher tariff, they should give more focus on hospitality

Kathkuni is a unique architecture which is used with all the materials of available in this part of the world pine wood Deodar and stones , which are made with one very important consideration of the environment temperatures in consideration and also to maintain the temperatures comfortable within the rooms . The word of ordinary rooms is just like statement being given by a person who does not understand construction . wooden interiors are is no way ordinary which all of us understand in this world of today and especially pine wood . The property has been made with great effort and care to give its guests an exclusivity of luxurious construction using eco friendly materials . I would like to put in a statement of one of my Italian architect friend who told me that this style of architecture is a true gift to us of our fore fathers . When we close our eyes and live in any concrete house we are surrounded by a cage of iron and steel whereas the Kathkuni buildings are made of all stone and wood which allows our soul the power of absorbing the true and beautiful power which Himalyas has to offer our souls . This place was made with an effort to bring people closer to themselves in the lap of nature and still offer the luxury of home .

If you want a retreat that is right in the lap of nature, where you won't be disturbed by horns and honks and jostling crowds...this is the place for you. Himalayan Kothi Kais has a picture-perfect location with a great view of the towering snow-clad Himalayas. It is an example of the traditional kath kooni earthquake -resistant Himachali type of architecture and interiors are tastefully furnished to make each room cozy and charming. The blooming variety of flowers in the garden has to be seen to be believed. Nature is the best artist in the world and she has painted these flowers in a variety of hues and shades...helped by the efforts and the flawless taste of the host, Miss Shalini. This makes spending time in the garden a pleasure. The walk in the orchard with its bevy of apple, pear, plum and many other trees is incredible. A brief climb from the garden area brings you to a pristine grassland blooming with tiny, fragrant, white flowers. Lie down on the grass with the sky for a ceiling amidst the chirps of elusive birds and the flutter of butterfly wings and experience serenity to the full. Vishal is indeed a most wonderful host, friendly, helpful and ever-smiling. He and his committed team consisting of Balbir and Karthik went the extra mile to see that our stay was comfortable and pleasant. The food provided was mouth-watering...our kids especially loved the pasta. We loved to sip the refreshing tea served by Balbir in the verdant garden. Come here if you are in the quest of serenity and peace.
