I have visited Guwahati on the last week of July this year. Stayed in Lilawati Grand. The hotel is newly opened. The room was clean. Bathroom looked very modern to me. Enjoyed the complimentary breakfast. Did not get time to have lunch and dinner in the hotel. I stayed in the hotel for two nights and before leaving for my work in the morning I used the hotel free wi fi internet. The hotel is situated in Panbazar, near Don Bosco School, the central business area of the city and also near to the Brahmaputra river. Overall good hotel, value for money, warm staff and the best thing was that I did not hear a single noise of the outside traffic

OK location, close to the railway station. The room and bed was very comfortable. Good pillow and quilts. We stayed in the same room twice on the same trip. The second time I don’t think they had changed my sheets. I found a long hair in my bed. They did not change our towels every day. The bathroom was clean. However the ‘concept dry bathroom’ kept flooding because the shower was made on a pedestal and had leaky shower screens. The water would then run out from the bathroom into the bedroom. But the water was nice and hot, non-stop flow from the shower!! Good big LCD TV with cable. Breakfast was adequate – eggs, toast, fruits, juice, dosa sambar etc. Decent service. The price was good, I would probably stay here if I ever had the misfortune of going to Guwahati again!

We had booked 3 rooms on double occupancy at Lilavati Grand on 14th january for one night. And the services provided by the hotel are pathetic to say the least. Here is what happened -

1) We had made the booking through booking.com and had booked 2 standard and 1 grand room. We had also informed the hotel before hand of our expected time of arrival on 14th. Upon reaching the hotel we were told that they were misinformed and that they could give us only 1 superior room and not 2.

Since we had no option we accepted the same . They then asked us to cancel the booking of 1 superior room on the booking site and that we will be charged at walk in rate for the alternate room that we are booking.

2) since we had an 82 year old senior citizen travelling with us, we requested for a heater in the room, the hotel said they didn't have one. We then requested if they could atleast give a hot water bag since it was very cold and the hotel could not provide that either.

3) since we were checking out early at 06:30 am next day we requested if the hotel could give us basic packed breakfast and they said they cannot provide that ( mind you we were already being charged for the same ) . We then requested if atleast they could give us some tea and biscuit in the morning and the hotel refused for that as well.

Overall we wouldn't recommend this hotel, except for the location the services, and facilities are pathetic, the rooms are dark and smelly. One of our room smelled of ciggerate smoke.

Worst stay at hotel in my life. Reached hotel bit late in the evening. What greeted me was cigarette and alcohol smell right at reception. Hotel staff is very rude. Toilet flush does not work. Hotel staff said to me to wait till 8 .00 am till plumber comes. He refused to permit using another room toilet. Poorly ventilated room. Absolutely NO NO to family stay. You get better hotel for the same price.Alcohal and cigerate foul smell. Poorly ventilate room. Rude and unprofessional hotel staff. Basic facilities like toilet flush does not work. Worst is hotel staff does not bother to help you.

I have never faced such type of problem in any hotel all over India, Front office staffs are just ridiculous, they dont know how to speak & co-operate with Customers, they dont have any manners, they have not provided any services to us on time, We have booked 3 rooms for 3 days, but to stay there for a single days was terrible, i will not visit this hotel again in future, and i suggest do not visit to any one.

We booked this room from Goibibo after seeing much reviews in trip advisor. The hotel is located in a prime position and the arrangements are good, as you may expect from such category hotel in a small city.

However, the service is an area which looks for attention from the management. One of the room was booked for 3 adults, with an extra bed in it. There is one almost invalid person travelling with us and we required the room to be ready. But when we entered the hotel, the check in was smooth and we were readily shown the room. When that room has been entered, we could see that it is just a double bedded room. We readily informed the reception that we need an extra bed in that room.

They were not ready to listen saying that that particular category does not have the facility to accommodate extra bed. We were surprised! If your particular category of room does not allow you to place an extra bed why are you allowing people to book for extra person provision?

Now they told us to upgrade the room which will then allow us to have an extra bed in the room. But there will be an extra charge for upgrading. Now we felt that it is sheer cheating!! You first take extra charge for allowing extra person and then again force us to give you another extra charge for upgrading!

We called up Goibibo and told them to deal with the hotel since we are not going to give anything extra anymore. They clearly told them to take it on their own and if they have to upgrade the room they have to absorb the extra cost. Now their is new story. They told they cannot do anything until their manager appears and for that we have to "wait"!! See the way the guests are dealt with.

We kept on waiting and no one knows when their so-called MANAGER will arrive. And we got this sensation that this person is already in the hotel and he is simply not coming to talk to us. So we chased the boys at the reception and now the superior manager appears who is least bothered if the guests are waiting or getting service at all or not.

He is also adamant and simply saying this room we have booked cannot give extra bed facility. There was a row and hell lots of arguments and counter arguments. Finally, he agreed to give a bigger room which will accommodate an extra bed.

Nonetheless, the extra bed does turn up till 3-4 times follow up at around 5.30 PM.

Next morning, the TV is not running. Why? The dish tv requires recharge. We informed the housekeeping and reception as early as 6.30 am as we were leaving to offer our prayers to Kamakhya temple. When we came back at 12, the TV was still without any recharge done. Again we have to follow up 3-4 times to make this done. And there is no response from them.

Their food is okay thought overtly over priced. In our opinion, the service team needs proper training and etiquette.

Finally, I would also say that they are "cheating" people since they are charging 4.94% Service Tax but there is no Service Tax registration number printed on any receipt, neither in their hotel bill nor restaurant bills. I had a row with the hotel staff who were arrogant as I asked for the Service Tax registration details. They said that it is how their software runs and it is how taxes are being maintained in Assam. It means that they are stealing this money, simply. There cannot be any separate tax rule for Assam as it is within India and not outside it. They failed to show me any service tax registration details. Very non-cooperating and arrogant staffs. I would never recommend anybody to stay here since they are cheaters!

Overall I and my family were quite happy and satisfied and hence would say "Value for money".The hotel is located in the heart of the city - Pan Bazar. The staff were really cordial and gave us a warm welcome. It is very good to see that all of their staff members were quiet helpful. The front desk gave us good tips of visiting local points. The Deluxe Grand type of room was really good with good, neat & clean and spacious toilet/washroom.
However, there are a few points, for which I would request the hotel management to look into:
a) The entrance does not have a proper portico for the cars to come and stand so that the passengers can get down easily.
b) There are quite a few steps to go up to the reception, else once has to take the car down to the parking area, which itself is cumbersome
c) The buffet breakfast is served in the top most floor where there is no elevator (lift). Hence difficult for person with walking problems
d) One has to ask for arranging extra bed, even you would had paid for
e) Food quality for some of the dishes (like fish curry) need to improve

The most pathetic staff I have ever seen... No one knows how to talk and behave with the customers.

They DOUBLE book one room and then expect us to go some where else in the middle of night. This happened even when the hotel was informed about a late check in. If the customer asks for a clarification they call police and their own goons to show might and lull the customer. When all this is not enough the start pushing and man handling customer who is asking for his already booked room standing at the reception at 1 am along with his newly wedded wife. Such so called hotels which are nothing less than a place where goons are bred and innocent people insulted should be banned and shut down permanently. I hope no one ever faces time line mine with a hotel as pathetic and as low as this one here.
