They have one place where you can fill your bucket with hot water Tons of mosquitoes like everywhere in the Andamans - they have nets against it, ceiling fans Breakfast is included (it was 6/10 level) No Wifi It was the cheapest I could find and that is why we stayed there

This resort has obviously deteriorated since the last reviews. The cockerel still crows. I agree that it is not tge fault of the resort but irritating none tge less. The huts, although a good size, have not been maintained well. There was rubbish left around, part of the site has building works which have stopped, leaving unsightly piles of rubble. There was a nasty smell outside one of our huts (drains?) and an ants nest in another. I can see that it was a lovely resort once but no longer.

I stayed here for 8 nights as a solo backpacker and it was everything i expected... You get what you pay for the price that it is, so for any backpacker looking to save a few bucks this is the place. The staff were great and offered nothing short of service with a smile. I felt sad to say goodbye to them. Bring ear plugs and headphones. The one factor that really dampened my stay was the rooster that might as well have lived in my room. It started its cuckoos (every night but in particular on my final night) at 3.30am and these occurred every 20 seconds (i counted). It was impossible to get back to sleep and i ended up going to its cage and shaking it frantically, trying to get it to stop. I also took my sleeping bag and slept on a hammock on the other side of the resort to try and get some peace. I am a vegetarian, but believe me, i was never more ready to butcher an animal to death as i was that chicken... Nonetheless, this is no fault of coconut grove as the chickens are owned by next door but back on the a selection of the huts. So, in truth, it is what it is. The huts need some tlc and simple cleaning tasks would make them so much more attractive and appealing to the eye. For the price i paid and the service i was offered, i will definitely choose to return if i ever come back.

This place is very rough around the edges compared to other lodging options on Havelock, but costs just as much. It is not entirely lacking in charm- the coconut trees around the property create a nice environment, about half of the staff are friendly, and the access to beach 5 is convenient (and beach 5 itself is stunning and quiet). However, the list of negative qualities is significantly longer. The rooms and bathrooms are not very clean or well maintained, our sheets and mosquito netting were full of holes, and the other half of the staff seemed pretty apathetic and aloof. It was not uncommon to find staff members sleeping on the job and difficult to wake if you needed something. Many of the rooms closer to the beach are located right next to the shared bathrooms and therefore frequently have a very unpleasant odor around them (much more so than other rooms I've stayed in by bathrooms). My boyfriend and I stayed for two weeks due to having great neighbors and the close proximity to the Aqua Nomad dive shop (easily the two best things about staying there), and no one offered to change our sheets or clean the room during that time. We ordered from the restaurant there a few times and the meals we received were easily the worst I've had in India. The juice was tasty, but nearly every restaurant on Havelock has excellent juice. I don't particularly like to write negative reviews, but I feel as though it is necessary to do so in this case since Coconut Grove is bafflingly well reviewed in Lonely Planet, and we saw many travelers choose to go straight there because of it. You will easily be able to find a much nicer lodging experience for the same price on Havelock.

There are some redeeming factors of Coconut Grove but not enough to really review them well. Their beach access is nice and quiet which is a plus and because it is reviewed in lonely planet there can be some fun people that show up. We stayed for two weeks because it is next to our scuba diving school which we loved and there were neighbors we didn't want to leave. But the rooms are exceptionally over priced for what is provided: pretty rough bathrooms, lots of holes in the mosquito netting, the couple of food orders we placed were very over priced and downright bad (we have traveled a lot around India over the years and can hardly ever say that about a place) and some of the staff are truly indifferent to your stay. That being said some of the staff are quite nice and it is pretty. It seems like they have fallen to the common trap of being in lonely planet and not caring as much if they did before at all. Overall I would recommend looking at the number of other places around that are opening up that have much more competitive pricing...everything is expensive but some you get a lot more for your buck. I wish I had better things to say because I don't like to poorly review a place but it is just our experience.
