My honest review, this resort is the best in Havelock with its Ambience, Food, Services. We checked-in and requested for a top floor villa to have a nice view of the forest and the Manager generously have it to us. It's newly built and has the most spacious rooms in all of Havelock resorts 800sq feet. (See pics and video)
Food is just Amazing from veg to non veg, everything prepared by the chef is fresh and yummy. Room services and staff are extremely helpful and informative. We got to know about Scuba is Neil from one their staff members. FYI Scuba in Neil is way better than in Havelock water is clear Had a stay for 2 days and next 2 days in Sea shell. Honestly saying please donot opt for sea shell resort as you'll get old compact hut with leaking AC's and extremely poor services in Sea Shell resorts. De Foret any time is better than any other resort in Havelock. Checkout timings are flexible and hotel staff and Manager are extremely helpful and understanding.

I've been meaning to write this review for over 2 months now, since our visit to this magical island in the middle of the Indian Ocean. We stayed at the Deforet with our two kids, 10 and 17 and our parents (4 senior citizens) for two weeks and had a wonderful time. As this was just past the tourist season and heading into the monsoons, the place was peacefully empty and crowd free. We had the place almost entirely to ourselves. While we did encounter a few thunderstorms, these usually only lasted a short while.
The property is well maintained. The rooms are very spacious and the decor is lovely. It is clear that lot of thought was given to the architectural design of the resort as well as the interior decor to blend with the lush tropical forest surroundings. Situated on the less crowded western side of the island, Deforet is a quick 10 minute drive to the breathtaking Radhanagar beach. For those who are looking to enjoy swimming in the ocean, the location so close to this beach is a huge advantage.
The staff are extremely hospitable and friendly, and made an outstanding effort to make our stay a pleasant experience. A huge thanks to Shivani, Shilpa and Ruheena for their excellent service. I cannot thank enough the restaurant staff, Shrishti, Ashesh and Surendra, who met us every day with smiles and warmth. The chefs suggested and made us items that were not on the menu. The Nepali momos and Thupka were delicious, as were the Tandoori chicken and kebabs. A special thanks to Ruheena for organizing a birthday celebration dinner for our kids. We were impressed and touched by the level of care and thoughtfulness that went into helping us celebrate our family milestones. We will cherish these memories forever.
For those of you looking for a place to unplug from the internet, relax and recharge, and disconnect from your hectic lives, Deforet is the perfect getaway.
A few pointers: 1. Rent a car for the duration of your stay so you can have access to other parts of the island. This is the quieter part of Havelock, and cabs or autos are not available. 2. Plan to eat dinner at the Deforet restaurant, as there are not a lot of restaurants around this part of the island. 3. Work with the restaurant staff and let them know what you would like for your meals well in advance to help them plan and prepare. 4. Bring flashlights as the paths from the rooms to the main restaurant and lobby areas are not brightly lit in the evenings 5. Bring insect repellents as there are mosquitos. It is a tropical island after all! 6. Bring your bathing suits, sunscreen, shades and flip flops for the beach

This was our first trip as a couple and we had a truly wonderful experience. We stayed at De Foret for 4 days and everything about the stay was perfect.
Location: The resort is located 3 Kms from Radhanagar beach and just a few meters away from the Trekking Spot for Elephant Beach.
The Ambience: As the name states, the resort gives you the feel of a stay in a forest, albeit with all the amenities of course. We found the resort to be beautiful, exotic and exceptionally well maintained.
The place was quiet and you could hear the chirping of birds as well. On a clear night, we even managed to Stargaze!
This is a place I would recommend for people who would like to relax and keep for themselves without having to worry about being disturbed.
The Room: The room that we stayed in, was spacious, comfortable, clean, fully furnished and well maintained.(Wood themed)
The Food: We had our breakfast and dinner everyday at the restaurant here and the quality of the food served was of the highest order. We had vegetarian dishes and everything we ordered was freshly cooked and tasted good. The catering staff lead by Mr. Ashok were great in their hospitality and suggested the best options.
Pool: The pool is located right next to the restaurant. It was clean and well maintained and we managed to take the occasional dip. You could have a pool side dinner as well if you choose to.
Hospitality: A special thanks to Zaman, Shivani and the rest of the staff who were incredibly supportive, accommodating and answered every question we had. They were a huge part of making this trip and the stay a once in a lifetime experience.

We were a senior citizen couple and booked De Foret for 31st December stay reading the lovely reviews of the place. The resort is small but aesthetically built on a part of the forest about 1 km from the forest trekking point of Elephant beach and 3 kms of Radhanagar beach. Rooms are large all done up in polished wood with muted lighting and natural wood knicknacks. We had a light room service lunch of sauted prawns with a good portion size and very fresh. We were looking forward to the New year's night dinner for which we had paid a handsome amount. However we were terribly disappointed with the dishes we wanted to try. The fish in the starters was overfried and the prawns not so fresh, avoided the chicken tikka. There were some vegetarian starters of which the panipuri was a complete disappointment with totally bland water. Moving to the main course there were both vegetarian and non vegetarian options of which both fish and chicken were overcooked. Though the salad and the Kashmiri pulao was reasonably good. The sweet dish was another disappointment with rubbery pudding and rockhard brownies. There was gulab jamun too though not great. There was a DJ too and the music just did not appeal to us especially after the dinner that was a complete let down. Moving to the complimentary breakfast the next day the chole bhature was tasty and so was the sambar idly etc but only eggs for non vegetarians. I could see a few baked beans in a thin gravy and was told that it is kept so as it becomes thick eventually. Thankfully the baked cake in the breakfast was better than the dinner. The place definitely did not match our expectations. It is secluded and no place is accessible without a pre booked cab. However the lady at the reception was kind enough to book us a cab for which we paid 700 though steep but felt justified due to the demand and remote location. I feel that the management should definitely look into the quality and taste of the food being served and preferably offer a pick and drop from the jetty.

Overpriced, with a poor dining experience and some distance from the beach! Disappointing dining service as there was a limited actual menu available from the elaborate printed one! We were told this was because we were the only guests, the first two nights of our 3 day stay. The tandoor wasn't operational and when we asked for milkshakes were told that the bartender was not there! The pita with hummus turned out to be a strange hot dog roll with no hummus! The last night they managed to resurrect the tandoor. We asked for paneer Tikka and were informed that there was no paneer for the tandoor! The mini bar in the room was absolutely empty. A 2 lt plastic bottle of water was provided every day which is contributing to the plastic waste generated on the island. Other hotels we stayed in during our Andaman holidays, all offered water in glass bottles which were refilled everyday..
It's location was a minus for us as one needed a vehicle to reach the beach (Radhanagar is over 2kms away and Elephant beach a 40 mins hike) or the main market street where the restaurants were. Considering the full tariff charged ( We paid Rs.20,000/ night), we regret our stay here and will not be repeating it..

One would expect something special when paying such a higher price when many other alternatives are available at a reduced rate. However, the location is quite poor. You may face a lot of trouble in getting timely transportation. There is absolutely nowhere one can go in the evening. There is practically not a single restaurant in the vicinity, so you are completely dependent on the resort's kitchen which is again overpriced. Menu options are quite limited. There were some insects too. There is no gym. Swimming pool is right at the centre and one does not feel comfortable going there with the staff watching you continuously. Electricity supply is erratic and infrequent.

The stay at Deforet is definitely a memorable one for me and my family. The place is amazing with a wonderful set of staff.. from the time of reservations the hospitality what they offer was evident… Ashna in reservations guided us through and helped with reservations… hazzle free checkin at the hotel without waiting. Infact they were waiting for our arrival… pleasant and courteous Ruheena and Shilpa at the front desk were always at help from the time of checkin until checkout. The spacious room in the lush green woods is one and only kind in the havelock island(Swaraj dweep). The service provided by the housekeeping and the restaurant staff is remarkable..with three kids the rooms were always a mess.. Urmila, Asha and Neelam from housekeeping always cleared the room with no hesitation… surendar at restaurant was always at your call to serve you with the chefs creations. I would definitely suggest this wonderful hotel to all friends and the family who will be visiting andaman in the future…👏👏

From the moment we entered the reception area, the fresh Breeze and warm gesture of staff made us comfortable. The cottages are beautifully designed, extremely spacious with wonderful sit outs and beautiful bathrooms with all luxury amenities.
Special mention is to be made for the restaurant staff which is attentive, courteous and helpful. The food options in A-la-carte might be limited but extremely delicious. Room service is also very nice.
Overall it was a wonderful, refreshing and memorable stay at De Foret which I would strongly recommend based on my personal experience to other fellow travelers. Cheers..!!

I booked de foret resort primarily due to it's proximity to Radhanagar Beach and the jungle vibes. But personally I did not like the property due to it's isolation and the rooms are not very clean as well. Wifi did not work during our stay l, they also claim complementary pick up and drop service which was not true. The property provided us with a cab number, but they would give some excuse about vehicles not being available but they can arrange a paid one. I expect the property to make such arrangements if they promise complementary services. For the price you pay, I felt the property was definitely underwhelming, they could do with more cleaner bathroom
