This was our second time we stayed at Emerald Gecko. As a group of youngsters it is perfect as it has beach access and cozy/budget accommodations. As a family and couple, the place is nice for a few days, but it lacks the luxuries and facilities of a hotel. This is a beach hut eco-friendly property, so do not expect air conditioning, room service, flat screen TV and toiletries. However, the staff is very friendly and extremely helpful. We had to extend our stay on the island beyond our reservation, but the place had no vacancies, so the staff helped us arrange alternative accommodation and assisted with transfer. Overall we had a very good experience the both times we stayed there.
We stayed at Emerald Gecko with our 4 headed family for 2 weeks. The bamboo bungalows and lodges only fit 2 people so we had 2 bungalows. The resort is kept very natural and authentic amidst a spacious coconut tree grove, directly on the beach. The property is spread out with lots of open space. The bamboo bungalows have a rustic flare but add to the beach life experience and offer a comfortable double bed with a mosquito net, a private bathroom, and some also have a balcony. The resort has a white sand beach shaded by giant trees that lean out over the water just 10 meters from the bungalows. The restaurant was running on minimum staff since tourism had not yet fully recovered from the pandemic, serving only the complimentary breakfast, but this was an advantage for us being vegetarians, meaning, there was no non-veg food being cooked there besides eggs. The general atmosphere is very layback and peaceful, not the typical commercial resort, so we felt very close to nature and appreciate the island more in this way. The staff was very friendly and helpful whenever we had a request or needed help with organizing our activities on the island. Emerald Gecko is one of the oldest running resorts on the island and has stayed loyal to its simple and nature-friendly concept. Those looking to escape the hectic complications of modern life will be able to appreciate this place the most.…
The Best Budget Stay anyone can Expect. It was serene. The beach right in front of our beach hut made the experience worth it all. We spent most of our leisure time lying on the beach. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The network was jammed most of the time, and they allowed us to use their landline. The location of the stay is hands down the best. There are good restaurants along the road within a kilometer's radius. The sunrise from this stay is in par with the sunrise from Kaala Pathar, a pro here would be that, it is extremely quiet and peaceful. The only drawback of this place was the breakfast, it was just palatable.
Good location with beautiful beach. One thing lacking that i would suggest is that there should be a landline in the bamboo lodges if in case of emergency we could call the concerned person as we are unable to call due to lack of connectivitiy. Otherwise services are good, staff is polite, Amazing stay.
Such a wonderful and eco friendly place. The staff were so friendly and made us feel so welcome. Location is amazing and so are the rooms. A different experience altogether. And the lovely doggos that roam there are just the cutest. The beach is literally visible from the huts and hardly 20 steps away. Such a wonderful stay. Will always be my favourite and a 100 percent recommended.
