Hope you're not hungry at this lost highway resort because the neighboring town is about a hundred miles away in pitch darkness. If you're unlucky enough to be at the castello when the one lonely restaurant is closed CAZZO MIA you're out of luck! The unfriendly proprietor kindly provided a few overripe bananas and mealy apples when we finally found...

My wife, Ellen, and I loved our stay at the Castelleto! Our only regret was that since this was our first visit to Tuscany, we spent more time driving around to other sites than enjoying the ambiance of the Castelleto. It is very hard to describe the feel of this bed and breakfast/boutique hotel located in the very tiny hamlet...

Unlike many of the reviews that convinced us to reserve at Casteletto de Montebenichi, we were quite disappointed when we arrived there. The hotel is situated in an extremely small, nearly deserted village which is quite far from everything. There is no café, bar nor any other type of shop. The Casteletto is in great need of urgent restauration. The...

My wife and I were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary and could not have selected a more appropriate or wonderfully unique venue to start our trip through central and northern Italy. The host, Marco, was charming, attentive, available, and always willing to assist your every need. The hotel was charming, authentic and absolutely beautiful. The views from the windows of...

We spent two nights at this very small castle/boutique inn. It is unique in every way. The "town" where it is located is really just a cluster of small stone buildings on a hilltop, with the Castelletto in the center. The inn is beautifully restored and shows a real labor of love. Each room is different in decor and feel;...

As a global traveler for work and pleasure (in 2015 I travelled over 160,000 air miles) for nearly two decades, it gives me great pleasure to write a review that has only positive attributes that I can relate to my visits each year for the previous 3 years at the Castelletto di Montebenichi. 1) The Castelletto has been restored to...

Castelletto di Montebenichi is a wonderful small hotel in a very small hilltop village in Tuscany. It is a restored small castle that is in a perfect location from which to make day trips in Tuscany. The Breakfast is great and Osteria L'Orciaia is a small dining venue in Montebenichi that is excellent for dinner.

We spent two wonderful nights here in May. The weather was perfect and the setting was beautiful. Our room was very comfortable and we could see Siena from the window. The castelletto is furnished with beautiful furniture, statues, books and works of art. We had interesting talks with Marco at breakfast and the breakfast itself was superb. We loved relaxing...

This is the third time we have visited this idyllic place and it gets better and better. Lovely rooms, restful atmosphere and fabulous breakfast. Marco is a mine of information and will happily share ideas of where to visit and where to eat. Minibar is included in the price and guests are invited to join together in the evening for...

Spent 4 nights here in June 2015, we used it as a base to tour Toscana and what a special base it was. From the receptionist to the owner that run the hotel were so warm and friendly and could not do enough for you. One of the best breakfast we have had in Italian hotels as I have been...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to the Castelletto di Montebenichi, a perfect spot for visiting Tuscany, located in the Chianti, half way between Siena and Arezzo. Staying at the Castelletto is a magic experience offered to a few guests only who will enjoy precious works of art, including period frescoes, archeological finds, sketches and antique paintings, drawings, sculptures, bronzes and ceramics. They will be caught up in a pleasant, unforgettable out-of-this-time atmosphere. In this ancient mansion, dating back to XII century, tradition and modern comfort are combined perfectly. Guests are encouraged to move free like in their own home in a comfortable and familar, yet elegant and exclusive environment. At a few steps in the park guests can enjoy a swimming pool, a small sauna, and a gym with a jacuzzi mini-pool along with a marvellous view over the surrounding hills and the valley. The Castelletto has no restaurant, but around the corner a wonderful "trattoria" called "L'Orciaia" offers tasty traditional Tuscan dishes. ... more   less
