We did not expect luxury at the African Cottage but did not expect to find a house that has clearly not been maintained or cleaned properly in a long time: grease and grime in the kitchen, dirty fridge, dirty shower screens and toilet, dust on the floors, dirty walls and ceilings, etc. etc. The 'filthy' cooker as mentioned by a...

Well, you never know about people do you? We parted on very amicable terms (after the lady threw a tea towel at Suzy!) with hugs all round and promises to return! And now this! Fortunately one of the family came and warned us (and apologised!) that mom is a bit of a cleaning fanatic. Mom even thought a BRAND NEW,...

This was our second time at the African cottages, we absolutely loved both trips. The cottages were cosy and self contained having everything we needed for our stay. The grounds were beautiful and picturesque. With such an amazing central location it was easy to get into town and tourist locations. Matilda and the staff were fantastic, helpful and very accommodating!...

Got a deal for 2 nights accom for 4 to 6 people with African dinner included the first nigh & a $20 voucher on African spices. Sounded good & the cost was great. Also it suited as we could go to Eumundi markets on the Wednesday. Arrived & taken to our cottage.... thanks goodness no one was cooking because the...

I really am sorry that our lovely cottage was not satisfactory! And I mean that. We pride ourselves on our cottages. We have a Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor - and they don't give those out to anyone! I've counted - out of the last 20 reviews only 2 baddies. Not bad! Let's talk about cobwebs. Is it really a...

We stayed in the Rondawel for 4 nights in December 2015 as a treat for our 33rd wedding anniversary. As we are originally from Africa, we liked the idea of staying in a rondawel (a tradtional African design). We loved the decor in the cosy cottage & the beautiful fig tree in the garden - it was very special to...

Matilda and her staff made us feel very welcomed during our stay. We stayed in the Rondawel for 2 nights. My daughter was so excited to meet Tiger ;the cat, and wanted to bring him home. The food was amazing, and so convenient after travelling all day, it was nice to be able to sit down and relax in comfort....

I spent a fun filled three nights at the African cottages with my girlfriends for a birthday celebration. Our host was wonderful and easy going and made us all feel very welcome. I have to say it would also be a great place for families with the spacious rooms, small safe sleeping cubbys for young kids. Toys to entertain the...

Caught up with my immediately family and some overseas relatives at The African Cottage in February this year. I was suitably impressed with many of the features in this quaint little abode through to the lush gardens, the compact CD player that came with African CDs, the outdoor sitting area to the ponds outside complete with the nightly serenade of...

On first impression the cottage we stayed in was very pretty with lovely furnishings and the grounds are really pretty. Also, the location is very convenient for Maleny. But when we started to look at it more closely we could see that it was not as clean as it should be. There was grime on the ceiling fans, all the...

Thanks for your positive feedback! We will most certainly pay attention to those areas - the blinds are a constant nightmare to keep clean! But we will pay attention to them - and beat it! Unfortunately being in the country cobwebs appear overnight. We do our best to eradicate them. Glad you liked the food! Hoping to see you there...

Matilda is a great hostess and made us feel very welcome. There were 6 of us and we had an absolute ball from start to finish. The décor is superb and so very well co-ordinated and matching. The theme is Africa and everything is so tastefully done. Even down to the lion who doubles as a washbasin plug! The bobotie...
