2022 Travellers' Choice Best of the Best
Set in the heart of the World Heritage-listed Daintree Rainforest, the Daintree Ecolodge combines nature, nurture and culture in a pure rainforest environment. Believed to be over 180 million years old, and the oldest tropical lowland rainforest on Earth, the Daintree Rainforest is a rare and precious botanical treasure. Nestled amongst the foliage, the Daintree Ecolodge showcases 15 eco-friendly bayans (treehouses) immersed in the breathtaking rainforest canopy. Rise to the sound of the birds in the rainforest above, breathe-in the fresh tropical air and discover the lodge's private onsite waterfall on a leisurely stroll through the enchanting rainforest. The Daintree Ecolodge provides the perfect base to explore the treasures of the Daintree region; the only place in the world where two UNESCO World Heritage-listed sites meet (the Daintree Rainforest and Great Barrier Reef)! The Daintree Ecolodge is located 110 kilometres north of Cairns (90 minutes) and 45 kilometres north of Port Douglas (40 minutes) via sealed roads.

I highly recommend this place. It really is a fabulous hotel in the midst of the Daintree rainforest and was a very relaxing start to our holiday. Highlights - the food. We ate dinner there both nights and enjoyed everything we tried. They also had plenty of GF options for me. The room was also lovely. We stayed in a canopy room that looked right into the forest. Spacious and private. Loved having yoga mats provided. Staff were all very good too. Minor quibbles - the pillows in the room were a bit meh. Thin and flat. The room could also have been a bit cleaner. It was pretty clean but the cleaner had missed sand in the corners and the shower glass. Lastly, I’ve seen negative comments about the pool. It is smaller since this resort is surrounded by hills and trees. But pool area was nice and clean and a lovely place to dip and chill after hiking in the humidity. If you are in this area drive up to Thornton beach - it’s amazing.

Fantastic stay - we stayed for 2 nights and the place delivered everything we needed . Gorgeous accomodation surrounded by nature . We stayed in room 16 . The highlight was the bath on the deck which made you feel like you were out in nature . We ate at the restaurant one night which was delicious . Convenient location near the ferry , river cruises and surrounds . Would highly recommend and well worth the money

Reading the rave reviews of the Eco lodge makes me think we were stay o/night elsewhere. We had a $600 per night room which was not value for money. Minimal furniture somber palette of black, brown & grey with curtains that fell off the track. Tiny fridge & pretentious furnishing - ugly bed heads with peculiar leather straps - what the hell? Sure it was in the rainforest but there are far more picturesque places in theDaintree. The ‘waterfall’ was a small cascade, the parking minimal - had to park on the Main Street as for the restaurant, although in a lovely setting, the food was as overpriced as the room . Breakfast was pretty ordinary like the service. Never again.

Hi Pauline, We are saddened to read that you did not enjoy your stay at our rainforest lodge. With unique bayan (treehouse) accommodation hidden within the ancient canopies of a UNESCO World Heritage-listed 180 million year old rainforest, we are surprised that you would favour an international trip to Bali rather than holidaying in your own diverse backyard. The onsite waterfall and swimming hole holds incredible indigenous culture as it is sacred to the Kuku Yalanji women who for thousands of years bathed in its crystal-clear waters for healing and spiritual beliefs. The culinary team draws inspiration from the rainforest and surrounds to deliver seasonally-changing menus that harness the tropical tastes of the Daintree & Tablelands complete with a native bush tucker twist. Much thought, passion and dedication is put into every dish and the chefs celebrate only the finest bounty of locally grown and sourced ingredients from our friendly local producers. We ensure a short paddock to plate experience that delivers low food miles and sustainable practices and due to this, prices may seem slightly more expensive than you’re used to. Thank you for your feedback.

We spent 3 lovely nights at the Eco-lodge and thought it was fantastic. Phoebe and her team were extremely professional and did an excellent job. The breakfasts and restaurant were very high quality. The grounds and environment were also beautiful. We felt as if we were in our own little paradise. Highly recommend for a short R&R.

We cried when we left. Ecolodge was absolutely spectacular in every way. Stunning surrounds. Impressive accommodation. Delicious vegetarian options. World-class service. We even had our own hilltop waterfall. This is a place to feed your soul and your senses. Also easy to get to and close to all other attractions in the region. Thanks, Ecolodge!

Brilliant venue to experience the beauty of the Daintree in a great Eco Lodge located within the forest. Rooms are extremely comfortable and a highlight is No TV!!! The dining experiences are absolutely top standard as Chef Jamie creates sensational meals utilising local produce. Although limited Wine List is very good Finally all the staff are excellent where no requests are a problem whatsoever Highly recommended

Hi Ron T, Thank you for the for great review. Having limited access to TV and the internet is always a highlight for guests who wish to unplug from the outside world and really immerse themselves in the rainforest experience. So glad you enjoyed the food at the Julaymba Restaurant, sounds like you really seized the opportunity to experience the lodge and it's surroundings. We hope to welcome you back again in the near future. Rachel

We had a fantastic stay at the Daintree Ecolodge. Room furnishings were of a good standard but the real beauty of this place is the setting and the room design which allows you to virtually sleep in the rainforest. The staff were also amazing as was the restaurant where we ate each night. The food was of a very high standard with a good wine and beer selection to match. Can't wait to return.

My wife and I recently stayed 3 nights at the Daintree Ecolodge. This is a boutique lodge that offers guests an excellent opportunity to relax unwind and enjoy being immersed in the tropical North Queensland rainforest. The rooms or Bayans as the lodge likes to call are all individual buildings that look over the main lodge or the creek that cascades down the hill behind the lodge Each bayan is very well serviced and private even though they are close to each other The food at the Julaymba Restaurant onsite is very good complimented by a good drinks selection While facilities are important at any destination it is the people who look after you that make a stay exceptional and the staff at the lodge were fantastic. They were friendly, welcoming, discreet and made us feel like we mattered. Special mention must go out to Owen, Phoebe,Flora, and Jodie as well as all the others who weren’t so front of house. I highly recommend this place to stay if you want to immerse yourself in stunning rainforest location and most of all relax which is what a holiday is all about
