Spent one night here while driving from Brisbane to Cairns. Stayed here because it was a little bit of nostalgia - first stayed here in 1992. I don't think much has changed regarding the furniture and decor. It's a basic, budget priced motel. The bistro however is another story - very good!
The units look like they have recently had a make over ams were clean and tidy however some things were missed or glossed over. A mat at the front door would have been nice to wipe feet before entering as small stones were carried in and a Broom to sweep them away so as not to get them in the bed. A soap holder in the shower would have been handy as well. Water pressure was nonexistent and had to wait a very long time for what was supposed to be the hot water, no cold was needed. A shower screen would be good as well. No blinds or screens on the rear windows had the unit very well lit up during the night so no lights were needed to use the toilet which was lucky as if you used the light it would have lit up the whole unit as there is no way of confining the area as that would have rendered the AC useless. The front curtains could have been longer and fixed higher to stop the outside light getting in. Overall a clean tidy unit more suited to one person and with a few fixes would change the rating higher. …
While staying at the caravan park next door we went here for dinner and didn’t need to eat for a week! Their Parmi night (multiple topping options) is outrageously good value with the biggest servings you could imagine. I’m not even a parmi fan and they converted me. Also reasonably priced drinks. Bonus was we could have our dog in the outdoor area.
Booked in 1/7/2019, room 43. NEGATIVE Firstly we had to get reception to send somebody over to open the room door as the door lock was seized and the hotel worker needed two hands to turn the handle & he even struggled a bit to open it. We then went for a drive around and the same thing happened when we got back, rang reception and again they had to send an employee over for us to get into the room. That night we slept with the door open but with all our bags pushed up against the door to keep other people out as was as hard to open the door to get out the room as it was to get in. The light over the queen bed wasn't working. Early morning traffic (4am to 6am) very noisy. POSITIVE The room was clean, beds comfortable. SUMMARY Not to bad for a Hotel/Motel but only worth $80 to $90 not $110…
