Worth every penny.. such a great location with stunning views, great walking tracks(bring suitable shoes),fantastic swimming areas, manicured gardens and lawns, stunning sunrise and sunset to watch from your balcony, photo opportunities galore and very friendly reception on arrival. The rooms are kitchenette style, large fridge, microwave, great water pressure in the shower. I'd definitely be staying there again it's worth spending a little more and skipping the caravan park which not much less as I found out.

This was my second stay at Whitsunday Sands Resort. First, 2 weeks 2019/20 and this time 3 weeks 2020/21. All through the 'silly season'. No 'silly' experienced at all. Not even close. Something to be said as the location and its environment seems to cast a friendliness over Janet and John's Resort that is expertly and professionally cared for. Like Jan and John, the staff are just great. The Indian Restaurant is scrumptious [take-away @ the mo]. The grounds are beautiful and the wildlife amazing. But the beaches on either side are the real cause for delight! I kid you not, put all this together and there is no way you won't come back. Just to pinch yourself and reassure you that it wasn't a dream the first time! Truly, from a world traveler, it's rare to find a place to stay that tends and cares for solo people like me, young and extended families and the nomads. In all, as Arnold once said, 'I'll be back!" Thank you to Janet and John and the team for looking after me. Cheers! Don

We are travelling for 3 months and have had a range of accommodation. We were recommended Whitsunday Sands Resort from managers from another resort. We were very happy with our room overlooking the pool and the Horseshoe Bay side of the Coral Sea. Our suite was spacious, very clean, and we had a good little kitchen (great for our 7 night stay). Aircon and fan were helpful during our stay, as was the pool. An easy and short stroll took us down both Grays Bay and Horseshoe Bay and as mentioned before this place is a rare spot to see both sunrise and sunset. Took heaps of photos. Quite magical really. An Indian restaurant is conveniently located on site, and the Horseshoe Bay Cafe just a few steps away, is a real treat for location, coffees, cakes (yum!) and breakfast and lunch. The location really is divine even if the wind is blowing. We loved being able to hike/walk up to the Rotary Lookout and scramble over a few rocks further to get to the WW2 Radar site. Janet and her husband are most willing to help out with anything from extra towels, a spare pool noodle to borrow, and just have a friendly chat. We snorkled happily at Horseshoe Bay and my partner fished off the big rocks at Gray's Bay. Caught a 2 kilo fish that served us for 2 meals. Washing machine on site makes it easier for longer stays. Enjoyed exploring the Bowen area and relaxing. Go to the Museum at Bowen if you are interested in history. Definitely recommend.

We booked two 2 bedrooms and two 1 bedrooms king, all self contained, for a family weekend away. All rooms were very clean and well maintained. Washing machines and dryers were available close by, as well as cloths line and even pegs! The position is perfect to Horseshoe Bay and The Cafe, both easy walking distance, and that was with 6 kids under 7 years old. A dip in the pool is fun for everyone. I highly recommend Whitsunday Sands Resort to anyone wanting to stay in Bowen. Have booked again for next year!

We enjoyed a beautiful stay at this unique resort. The older-style resort is well-maintained with lovely gardens. The position among the boulders & with spectacular beaches & bays all around is magnificent. The room is neat & well-appointed (great kitchenette) though we think it's time to upgrade the very old televisions (no HD channels) & perhaps consider entertainment options with movie channels etc (there were just a few pay TV channels). The managers John & Janet we're very friendly & helpful. Highly recommend this resort for couples & families with young children. We will be back!

Our greeting was warm and welcoming and even Buster the cat came to say hello. The room was spotlessly clean and in excellent order. The spa was a decent size and was great after a ride on our old motorcycle. The views were to die for and it was amazingly quiet for how many guests were there. The sunrise was awesome and it was nice being lulled into a deep sleep with the sound of the waves as we slept with just the insect screen doors closed. We have put this place on our priority list to ride to and stay in the cooler months and as a getaway in the warmer weather as the air conditioner looked like it was in excellent order. If you are coming by motorcycle just be aware that there is a lot of loose metal over the driveway so caution is needed but the area is safe to leave it unattended.

This time we stayed at the Whitsunday Sands Resort,- this is THE best location, less than 5 mins walk to 2 lovely little bays ,on site take away restaurant, a dine in next door , & a cafe/bar a couple of minutes away.. Walk to the lookout if you are feeling energetic. The grounds are expansive ( with a pool) & very well maintained. We were in a second floor unit with a beautiful view. The unit was clean, well stocked, no issues at all with this accommodation We will be back. Would be great for children.

What a picturesque place to stay. We loved our view of the private beach and didn't really want to wander too far away as we had found our perfect spot to enjoy the ocean view, lovely green grass and well maintained Gardens. Our room was immaculate and we enjoyed having Indian cusine delivered to our room which was delicious.
We also went on the walking trails that are close by without having to drive there and sitting on the large rock on the waters edge was a place of tranquility for me. We will definitely visit again sooner than later!

Have been coming back to these units for a few years now and each time thoroughly enjoy our stay here.

The location is great - very scenic with lovely beaches and walks around the many rocky outcrops.

The accommodation has always been good - clean, quiet and no noisy traffic . The units are spacious with an adequately equipped kitchen. My one peeve with any accommodation is the use of plastic kettles and teflon cookware that always seem to be scratched or generally in poor condition. I know they might be more expensive, but replace in time with stainless steel - durable and easier to clean.

Would definitely be back.

The place's location on the point at Horsehoe Bay was absolutely brilliant as well as a nice and relaxed vibe! We were lucky to have a room that overlooked a small beach on the western side of the point that provided views of some cracking sunsets during our stay.
As well as that, it's also walking distance to Horsehoe Bay beach, walking trails and a great little cafe making it super convenient for other things to do whenever you felt like it.
Great place to stay if you want to relax, like sunsets and hang out near the beach!
