Detailed Reviews
My partner booked this accommodation for 3 nights. We were so impressed we extended for another night.
From the first port of call of booking down to viewing the apartment that was available.
We couldn't fault.
We had a one bedroom apartment on the second floor. The apartment was sparkling and so much room. Very modern, beautiful furnishings. Kitchen was fabulous, even a washing machine and dryer in kitchen behind a folding door.
The bedroom was so roomy with wonderful spacious ensuite.
The balcony leading out from the loungeroom and bedroom was so spacious and the view of the swaying palm trees looking out to see was just something you dream of.
I would not hesitate to recommend this place, but want to keep it a secret.
Everything about this place is perfect.

Spent 3 nights here in a studio apartment. It is situated right on a small sand beach with great views. Despite the resort being busy the room was quiet and the area was peaceful. The room had a comfortable bed with a good-sized shower (no bath). There was both a ceiling fan and air-con.
HOWEVER, the cooking facilities were very poor. One very small electric frypan and a microwave are not enough to prepare meals. There were no sharp knives (but we brought our own), no colander, no wooden spoons and no way of boiling water for rice or pasta. Because the resort is not near any shops (10 mins by car to Woolies) and very few eateries, cooking in the room is essential. This was a big drawback and it doesn't cost much to provide a basic kit for cooking. Should be rectified asap.

Hi Thanks for your feedback We have 4 different types of accommodation at Rose Bay. The unit you stayed in was the smaller Studio apartment which is a motel type unit. These have a kitchenette with basic cooking facilitates for people wanting to have breakfast in their rooms. (sink, microwave, toaster, jug, fry pan, plates cutlery, etc) Those wanted to have full self contain apartments, book the one bedroom, two bedroom or Penthouse apartments. These apartments have full kitchens, oven, hotplates, full crockery, saucepans etc. We have guest that stay in these for weeks on end and do not need to eat out. If someone is in a studio and need something extra than what is supplied in these units, we have a selection of spares on site and are more than happy to supply if requested. Cheers Paul

This is a lovely resort in a great location right on Rose Bay. My room ( No. 18) had a balcony facing the beach, and it was ideal for a leisurely breakfast watching the sunrise. The room was airconditioned, but I left the screen door open at night to catch the breeze and hear the roar of the sea. The view is very dark at night as there are only a few lights on Gloucester Island well offshore ( unlike the bright lights of Magnetic Island off Townsville).
There was a flat screen TV with good reception, a bar fridge, a kettle with tea bags, coffee and sugar, a coffee machine (coffee pods $1 each), a bar fridge, microwave and toaster, and a table with two chairs. The double bed was comfortable and had a good reading light. The bathroom had plenty of hot water and the towels and toiletries were good.
The staff could have been more helpful, as I had a lot of luggage to take up to my room in the lift using the trolley; I use a walking stick and would have appreciated some help at this point. The rooms appear to be serviced only once a week, and they expect guests to take their own rubbish downstairs. After check-in I never saw any staff during my 3 days here.
The cost of $480 for 3 nights was fair value for the location and the amenities provided.

Hi, So sorry about not helping with your luggage, of course we are always available to help if asked and often do if we see someone that requires help. Our office is open from 8am to 5pm each day however we are often out about the complex cleaning and other task. There is a phone at reception which we have on us at all times and you just need to call 9 and we will be there. We do have bins in a refuse area on each level to save you having to take rubbish down stairs which we empty as required. Thanks again for the feedback and we hope to see you again the next time you need a break. Cheers Paul

Right on a really beautiful swimming beach, with balconies that provide lovely sea views (use Aeroguard after sunset!). Clean and well appointed, including a lift and luggage trolley. The bed was perhaps a little firmer than our preference. It does help to have a car if you want to explore Bowen further. The pool is small but pleasant. We were (unintentionally) difficult guests but were treated with absolute kindness and courtesy. We hope to visit again next year for a longer stay.

Clean, affordable and friendly people. The view from the room was exceptional, gorgeous sunrise over the beach to watch from balcony. Airlie beach is only about 45 min away but Bowen itself has some shops and cafes.

We were trying to find a place north of busy Airlie to spend a few days to relax after week in Sydney. We found this place through trip advisor and what a great place.. Room opens out right onto the beach.... And what a beach.. Golden sand surrounded by coconut palm trees.... Don't get that view from where we come from... Great walks around the bays too.. We found a lovely secluded beach just 2kms walk ... Great

This was our second family stay and we look forward to many more. Well appointed, clean rooms with invaluable service and advice provided by Paul. This resort is just wonderful for a relaxing break. Lovely beach is right out front but also offers rocks to explore and there are an excellent choice of bush treks with points of history and wonderful views. No restaurant but there is one around the corner and a fabulous coffee house Paul will tell you about. We would like to visit next when the turtles are hatching.

My husband and I stayed here last week for 4 days and honestly you don't need to go anywhere else to find paradise. Thanks to all the posts on trip advisor for convincing me to book here and for giving us a local knowledge on what is around this area. The yaght club is a good place to eat (need to check when open) and people lovely.. Also very fresh fish (caught in the morning) that they will cook for you at a fish and chip shop on the opposite side of the yaght club, is a must!

We stayed in a ground floor, 2-bedroom apartment, with french windows in each room opening onto a terrace looking straight onto Rose Bay's beautiful beach, which was just a few steps away through the resort's garden. There were stunning views from all the rooms. The apartment was very clean and spacious, and had two bathrooms, one of which had a bathtub as well as a large separate shower. The living/dining area was large and airy and comfortably furnished, with a big TV (TVs in each bedroom as well). The kitchen was well-equipped (needed in Bowen, see later...), with good laundry facilities as well as being good for cooking. The resort manager was very friendly and helpful, with lots of local knowledge. There was a small pool, but with such a lovely bay so close at hand (and our visit being in winter, so outside the stinger season) we didn't see any reason to use it. The location is very quiet, and we were able to leave our windows open at night (but with bug screens in place, as the nights were still quite warm) and listen to the waves lapping on the beach as we went to sleep.
For those who haven't visited, Bowen is a curious place. The beaches, mainly in bays around a beautiful granite headland, are superb, with calm, gin-clear water. Of these, Horseshoe Bay (a 5-minute drive or a superb walk over the headland from Rose Bay - which passes another beautiful beach in Murray's Bay) is probably the best for swimming and beachcombing, and for energetic snorkelers or divers there is apparently a coral reef about 150 metres offshore. Rose Bay itself is very beautiful, but is shallower and has less marine life. A short walk from Rose Bay, or a scramble over rocks, takes you to the very long, sandy King's Beach. Grays Bay and Queens Beach, also very nice, are a short drive away.
Bowen itself, which is just a few minutes' drive from the beaches, seems like a traditional sleepy outback town and is very different from its beach resorts - there is a small shopping centre, a few more shops in the town centre itself, but few places to eat, especially in the evening. There is a great bakery and pie shop, but it closes at 3:30 in the afternoon. There are a couple of very good fish and chip shops, though. Having well-equipped self-catering accommodation is a good idea if you're staying in the area - which is well worth a visit - and the Rose Bay Resort certainly fits the bill.

Beautifully presented and immaculate self contained unit - absolutely beach front with fabulous views out to sea. I could only stay 1 night, so will need to go back when I can stay longer. It's a bit out of town and quiet - perfect for a relaxing break, and a short drive to town for supplies, if needed.
