When I booked this hotel, I assumed that I would be in the main building so was very disappointed to be put into a wooden chalet in the grounds. I thought the price paid was excessive for the room we were in. On the plus side, breakfast was excellent. Won't be staying again.

All our rooms are in the grounds, I am sorry you found the rooms expensive, but glad you enjoyed your breakfast

breakfast is prob the best offer in the area. great little place for families, great selection on spreads, however the full english is a standard size with no much on it and mine was cold and had to be sent back. was sorted within minutes. the staff are rushing around this tiny little area so quickly it makes you feel...

Breakfast is very busy in school holidays, there are plenty of tables in the resturant where there is no sunshine, my staff do have to run around to serve every one quickly.

We stayed for two nights with our two dogs. We were made to feel welcome on our arrival by the the friendly staff. The chalet accommodation was spotless and the beds were very comfortable. We ate in the bar area as this is the area where the dogs could be with you for meals. The breakfast was lovely and the...

We stayed here while visiting nearby Alton Towers. The chalet accommodation was good - clean, tidy and super comfy beds. Seeing as the pub is on a main road it was really quiet too. The pub itself is lovely with a pretty conservatory to eat in and lovely outside space. The food however was such a let down. A menu...

I am pleased you liked your rooms and the gardens. As to the menu the chicken curry is off our pub section on our menu, and is not off the alcarte section. We have a large menu as we like to give people a choice of eating lighter meals with chips from the pub section or food with fresh veg...

Food was mediocre for the price. Walnut and pear salad had no walnuts. Suet crust pie was actually flaky pastry. Bar person could not remember table numbers between ordering a drink and serving it. To cap it all there was no hot water for a shower in the morning and the shower head was so badly scaled it sprayed everywhere.

We are really sorry about your water problem while you stayed with us and we have replaced the shower head. Sorry you didn't enjoy your food, I have taken the missing walnuts up with kitchen. The pastry was suet as we don't make any other. As to the mistake on the drinks we are sorry, but we have a number...

We really enjoyed our visit ,the chalet was fine ,good shower ,clean and as good as many hotel rooms we have encountered. The inn is 17th century with modern conservatory restaurant very oldie worldie ,The owners and staff all very helpful. We would recommend it to our friends looking for a base to visit the area

Me and my boyfriend stayed at the dog and partridge when visiting Alton towers. On arrival everyone was ever so welcoming. A nice lady showed us to our "chalet" we didnt know quite what to think at this point but when we went inside it was so warm and cosy! The bed is incredibly comfortable and the shower is brilliantly...

Overall our stay was disappointing. The Inn has great potential but has lost its character and charm due to the large number of functional chalets to the rear. The restaurant did not also come up to our expectations. The evening menu was fairly extensive but the food did not really have a creative side to warrant an "outstanding" rating for...

Thankyou for taking the time to review our hotel. The rooms in the grounds have been there for 50 years, reacently refurbished, the inn it self only has two rooms. We try to keep the inn very traditional and in keeping with a 17 century inn where ever possible. I will be taking you comments on the food up with...

We stayed for one night whilst visiting Ashbourne and were extremely impressed by the facilities, food and staff. Would not hesitate to recommend the hotel to visitors to Derbyshire as a great location to the Peak District and Alton Towers.
