A pub I have driven past at many time but being close to home have rarely visited. Located along side the River Derwent, just outside Hathersage, this country pub offers a varied menu with a good selection of food. The courteous and efficient staff served a very tasty meal. We only visited for lunch, so cannot comment on the rooms....

Booked a room at the plough inn for a couple of nights break after Christmas. We had a standard double room and it was more than adequate. The bed was really comfy and the bathroom a good size and excellent shower over the bath. Toiletries supplied and breakfast included. The breakfast was of a High standard with an excellent selection...

I tried this place out as my daughter is at Sheffield University and when picking her up I didn't fancy a 370 mile round trip from home so stayed overnight. I received a very warm and friendly welcome. I was shown to a very pleasant room in a little conversion outside the main building with a very comfortable bed a...

We stayed at The Plough Inn last night and I can't rate it enough. Wish we could have stayed longer. The room was great, fab bathroom and really spacious. The staff were really friendly but not intrusive. We had a delicious dinner in the pub. It was a shame we had to miss out on breakfast because we were in...

We were greeted with a welcoming "good evening " by the manager which doesn't happen often nowadays. Good start. After being shown to our table our drinks order arrived quickly while we checked out the menu. The set dinner at £27 for 3 courses was our choice and we weren't disappointed. My pheasant was good and the steak (£5 extra)...

Myself and three others stopped in at the weekend for a pub lunch and were greeted warmly. Staff were very pleasant and our meal did not disappoint, can vouch for all that we ate, Gammon, Plough Steak Sandwich, Cuban sandwich and a Steak and Kidney pudding. I would have eaten any one of the dishes, but my was the steak...

Top quality pub grub with a significant home-made element served by friendly professional staff. Dog friendly. Decent beer. Nice place, highly recommended. £120 for four - starters and mains with a couple of drinks and a coffee each. Good value.

Been here many times and never had a bad experience. In the summer, there is the terrace and the sheltered garden area, In the colder months, there is the main bar with the big open fire. Food is always first rate, and although appearing to be a very well to do place, they are dog friendly and have always accomodated...

I am sure you have to reserve your table if you wish to visit The Plough for Sunday lunch, which illustrates this is a splendid place to go. Whilst we stood at the bar enjoying a pre-lunch drink several people came in to try for lunch only to be disappointed. Portions are generous and the food traditionally English. The staff...
