Stayed for one night over the Easter break. What a stunning place. Gorgeous building, beautiful grounds with lots of little lambs running around the gardens. Great location between Hope and Castleton so plenty of options for pub food if you don't fancy the YHA menu. Spotless accommodation, delicious breakfasts, and really lovely, friendly staff.

It was our first stay at a Youth Hostel, and we thought it was great! Alhough our younger boy (11) thought it was a bit sparse (en-suite family room with 2 x bunk beds), our older son approved of the individual light, little shelf and 3 pin charging point by each bed (both top and lower bunks). The room was...

Castleton was a great place to stay, great building, location, condition, staff, lovely setting. Food was good and staff really friendly and helpful. It is very good value and the position was so good for exploring the Peak District.

We stayed for 2 nights in March 2017 when it had been raining and had evidence of previous heavy snow in the hills around. On arrival there was a flood at the entrance to the drive - watch this if you are walking here from Hope station, in the dark. The drive through the park (about 0.4 mile) is mainly...

Was first time staying at this property. Was in a good spot just on the edge of Castleton and walking distance to pretty village, caves etc. The building is really nice inside with lots of original features and set in its own grounds. The only dissappointing thing for us was that we were not staying in the main house but...

Thanks for the lovely review. It sounds like you were staying in the Mews which has its own cobbled courtyard and is a short walk away from the main hall - some people prefer that - sorry if you didn't. Just call us on your next visit and we'll make sure you have a room in the main hall.

16 of us used the West Mews- we could have been 28 and paid no more. Kitchen facilities and bedrooms of good quality for a youth hostel. One thing missing was a TV or stereo. Nice and warm in cold weather.

Really glad you had a good time. Thanks for the comments -- there is TV over in the main site which you could watch, sorry if we didn't make that clear - but the Mews doesn't have it's own aerial at the moment - food for thought. Thanks for reviewing us.

Visited Peak District with my son of 12, we found the staff both friendly and helpful. We stayed in the Mews annex behind the main building. We found the accommodation clean and warm, the breakfast and packing up were particularly good value. The YHA cafe bar was well stocked with local ales and we enjoyed at decent meal in the...

Really surprised when we walked into our room for the night. It was clean and tidy and comfortable and most importantly, the cost was so reasonable. The staff were really helpful and it was close to Mam Tor, the main reason for our visit.
