After a less than satisfactory stay in a standard room last year, the refurbished rooms are a dramatic improvement. Fresh, clean, good bed, nicely decorated, large flat screen tv and a good shower. The room and en suite are a bit cramped and the wifi is a bit borderline. The newly opened nearby Premier Inn will undoubtedly provide comparable accommodation...

We have passed this hotel many times but this time we called for lunch and what a treat. The food was excellent but the staff were even better,so much so we checked out of the hotel we were staying and checked into The Melbreak, couldn't have made a better choice!

Stayed in a cottage 100 yards from the hotel so used it for drinks on the Friday and had a Meal on the Saturday , All the staff were friendly polite and efficient . We all enjoyed our meals we had Moule Marniere starters and a prawn cocktail which were spot on . The Ribeye was cooked to perfection and...

Let me start by saying the highlight of this place are the friendly staff. They do look after you relatively well throughout your stay. Another positive is the location, if you have business in Cumbria then the location is good as you're on an A road and have access to main roads right away. Now for the negatives and the...

Dear Andrew Thank you for your review following your recent visit to the area and obviously extremely sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay. I can only agree with you that parts of the hotel are dated and in need of refurbishment however, as you can see from many of my responses to past reviewers, many of...

Handy for the north lakes ! Service was friendly and efficient, food was ok but fairly basic, no frills accommodation. Room was quiet despite being next to main road. All in all reasonable value for money !

This is a good hotel with spacious comfortable rooms and friendly staff. Meals are served in the bright and airy conservatory. There is plenty of room to park and it is a good location for visiting the area.

Oh what a wonderful hotel. Fabulous, modern, comfortable rooms and WOW that bed - never slept so well. The view from the bed when you wake up is beautiful (Room 11). Lovely restaurant in the conservatory and well done to the chef, the breakfasts were delicious - loved those kippers. The evening meals were good too, an extensive menu plus...

Lovely place for a Sunday afternoon tea. Took advantage of the 2 for 1 offer. All nicely presented, however not that much on the tray. 4 quarter sandwiches each and a lot of cakes. Wondered if it was served smaller than a 'normal' afternoon tea because if the offer. Service was great though.

Dear Taina Thank you for your review following your recent visit to the hotel restaurant and glad to hear you enjoyed your afternoon tea. I am quite perplexed to hear that you thought there was not much on your tea stand as most other diners who have recently taken afternoon tea have commented that there has been too much and...

We stayed one night and were upgraded to a "classic" room which was modern and comfortable. The bathroom was small but nice enough and had a hot, powerful shower. Breakfast had all the cereal, yoghurt options etc. but we just had the full cooked breakfast which was excellent.

This is my second visit to Melbreak. We decided to pop in for Sunday lunch and must say the food was excellent! Between the three of us, there was no second thought about the starter, as we all decided on the sticky BBQ ribs, a real treat! Great portion size served with a simple salad, perfect. For our mains we...
