We stayed for a night on our C2C walk. Mind you, it's at the opposite end of town but passing Shap Chippy on the way through we stopped for a chat & some chips. Margaret at Brookfield was wonderful. I wasn't walking the next section so she packed my husband an amazing lunch and sent him on a short cut... More

We felt lucky to be able to stay at the Brookfield House. Margaret (the owner) deserves five stars. About everything that you ever wanted was there. . . bathrobes, china tea service in rooms and at meals, large bedrooms, extra bathroom amenities, homemade dessert and laundry service . There were five of us and we all felt that we were... More

This is located on the A6 in Shap, from entering Shap on the C2C walk it is at the far end of the village, however it is well situated for local pubs & setting off on the route the next day. The facilities are very good and well presented & breakfast was enjoyable. Margaret was a great host and made a... More

Well worth the walk through Shap to the far end of the village for this exceptional accommodation. Margaret was very welcoming, the rooms were excellent, homemade flapjack was a really special treat and a great breakfast with nothing too much bother at all.

After a long day's walk from Patterdale, including a hike up Kirsty Pike in low hanging clouds, received a very friendly welcome from Margaret, which included not only providing boot drying but also taking damp walking socks to be washed. Very comfortable room with a view across fields to where we'd been walking. Had a drink in the lounge with... More

Arrived in Shap after a 16 mile hike in gale force winds up to Kidsty Pike. Went for fish n chips first at their chippie and they were amazing - best I've ever tasted! Brookfield House is a good mile down the road from the chippie on the way out of the village and we were glad when we finally... More

There's not too much to get excited about in Shap. We arrived there at the end of a very long hike on the Wainwright coast-to-coast walk. We were welcomed by the inn's owner Margaret then enjoyed a nice pint of beer in the immaculately kept garden. The house itself is a bit like a trip back in time decorated with... More

Delightful! The four of us arrived at the end of our Coast2Coast leg from Patterdale and were greeted most warmly, dispelling all of our growing fears, having just walked the length of Shap with steadily sinking hearts. Brookfield is a shining example of what a good B&B should be. Tea and delicious homemade cakes on arrival. Excellent rooms, brilliant breakfast... More

This B&B is situated on the southern end of town which means that on tired legs you have to walk through town to get there :-) It is worth the effort as Margaret will go the extra mile to make sure you are comfortable and have all you need. Phone her ahead of time to ask about places to have... More

Margaret is a treasure, a very caring person. Arrived soaking wet after walking from Patterdale Margaret took great care of us. A pot of tea & fresh scones were enjoyed in the sitting room while she dried our clothes and boots. A very comfortable & clean B&B, the best breakfast & packed lunch on the C2C. Pam & Peter
