We visited with friends for a bar meal on a Saturday night & believe that we clashed with the Wasdale Show. This is a pleasant lake district hotel/pub with friendly staff. The whole place was extremely busy, which was good to see rather than be the only people there. However, it did mean that we were given a table in...

My and my partner where on holidays in Lake District. We were traveling with our dog and were desperately looking for dog friendly place with good food and nice atmosphere. We decided to trust Dog Friendly website recommendation and we weren't disappointed. Owners are more then friendly, they can't do enough for you and your dog! Food was delicious as...

Very comfortable, lovely staff and food ok. Good atmosphere in bar. Breakfasts good. We went to stay near the campsite our family were in so it suited us well. We ate there the first night and the food was ok. I had the steak and ale pie, which I think must have gone a bit awry that night. The pastry...

Had lunch wife and family.Food arrived with what only can be described as a rotting salad.I told the waitress she said sorry I'll tell kitchen and walked off.Not good enough. However I have eaten here before and it was good.I can only assume there has been a change of staff or someone's on holiday.

The Strands was recommended by the owners of the nearby Church Stile Farm and as a single traveller I was given s warm welcome. A testament to the Strands that on a Wednesday evening most tables were reserved! However the friendly staff found space for me and served an excellent evening meal washed down with a pint or two of...

A group of 8 of us stayed here this weekend and have only praise for the Strands Inn. Me and my other half were later arriving than we'd hoped on the Friday night but the kitchen held back a portion of food for us both despite us getting there half an hour after they had stopped serving. We enjoyed excellent...

A very friendly and well appointed pub where everyone was most welcoming and the rooms spotlessly clean. Food and beer (brewed on the premises) were excellent. The only drawback is the fact that, being a busy pub with a holiday camp nearly, it is noisy at night. I had a very nice room which overlooked the front and even on...

Staff and owners are friendly and obliging. Rooms are small but comfortable with all amenities. Food was nice. The location is lovely, and perfect for a walking holiday. We were a large (and noisy!) group, and they looked after us very well. Would definitely recommend and would stay here again

Comfortable en-suite rooms with good food. The staff and owners are friendly. The cooked breakfast sets you up for the day. I was staying on businees, but the hotel caters equally well for holiday makers. Because there are always a few business travellers staying during the week there is usually a table reserved for the single travellers, rather than eating...
