We have stayed here so many times! It is always nice and relaxing. The food is excellent. Unfortunately in our most recent stay (July - mid summer?) it was cold, so we had to ask for the heating to be put on. The accommodation is reasonably priced, the food is always good. The fabric of the building has always been...

Stayed here for a few nights in July 2015. Very pleasant little B&B in an idyllic setting. We had room 2 which was a "cosy" twin with marvellous views. Very clean, with clean towels every day. Walls are a little thin, and we didn't appreciate our neighbour's breakfast television coming loudly through the wall when we were having a last...

Had heard good things. Was disappointed. Yes, the room was clean and upheld by housekeeping each day. Hotel gaudily decorated and the walls were paper thin so I could hear a bloke on FaceTime, watching television, on the loo etc. which was unpleasant to say the least. The room was very cold so it was uncomfortable unless you were in...

I've had a fair few stops at The Three Shires over the years. Never disappointed. Such a great location, situated perfectly for a post hike pint. The food isn't bad either! Good honest hearty tucker. On our last visit we knocked back a couple of the fine selection of single malts to numb the aches for the final few miles...

Visited here for lunch whilst cycling in the area. Not your normal pub grub which appealed to us. Venison and cranberry burger was delicious. So too the beef and Guinness pie. After a hard morning's cycling we had planned to sample their homemade cake as well but the meal portions were big! Friendly staff (we loved the very enthusiastic barman)...

We walked from Great to Little Langdale yesterday with a view to call off here for a bite and a pint. Four of us had sandwiches and chips and sat outside in the Spring sunshine. This review is easy as everything was spot on. Our ham, prawn and bacon/Brie sandwiches were walloped down and the chips were superb. All washed...

We wanted somewhere that had a nice cosy fire and a general pub feel that serves good food, I feel that we got this and more. It's located in little Langdale surrounded by the beautiful sights of the Langdales. My he staff were good and coped well under pressure due to a busy night. Our food was excellent, from twice...

it's in the middle of nowhere really- such a contrast after Ambleside which is always heaving. Amazing drive over Wrynose Pass to Hardknott fort- what were the Romans thinking of? Nice lunch by a wood fire with a good welcome.

Dropped in for a drink after visiting Blea Tarn. Fantastic area, wonderful views, and easy walking. Lovely pub, friendly staff, good choice of drinks, felt food was a little pricey albeit good quality. I would recommend a visit if in the area. Just go slow on the roads as a bit tight in places!

Third stay at The Three Shires and, like the first two, a really enjoyable one. My wife and I booked Room 5 which overlooks the Little Langdale valley, looking right across the wonderful fells. Warm welcome from the hosts - Ian, Jane and Elaine - and we ate in the restaurant both nights. Good choice of food and everything delivered...
