Just had my booking cancelled, no explanation. So before you decide to plan your family holiday, take note, they cancel on you. Is it worth the risk? Booked through Sykes Cottages, Cat Crag ws the property

Dear Mr Palmer-Smith, We have tried to contact you a number of times regarding your complaint with us. We apologise for the experience you have had with our booking agent, it is never Graythwaite's intention to upset or ruin a holiday experience. Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances the cottage would not be available for your stay, and as such we...

Just had a week at Mill Cottage and enjoyed every minute. Cottage is situated on the side of Lake Windamere with great views over the lake. Cottage could not be faulted and had everything required to make the stay easy and enjoyable. Wifi and internet slow but available so no complaints. Well situated for driving to Bowness, Ambleside, Grassmere etc....

Been going to graythwaite estates for several years, normally staying in the Bull Pen, but this year stayed at Eel House - wow !!! Fantastic place, right opposite the swimming pool. Eel House looks old from outside, but inside it is amazing, already booked for next year. Great place to escape, great place for a walk in the grounds.

We stayed in Hilltop cottage in the beginning of November and loved it. Perfect views from the cottage and the cottage itself is so quaint and pretty and pet friendly. Cottage could've been a little warmer but the fire made up for it! Comfy bed which we struggled to get out of ! We had a great time here and...

Four of us with two dogs stayed at Crummock for 4 nights, was perfect for us (once we managed to find it, which was quite hard in the dark so make sure you pack a torch!) Lovely cottage with everything we needed. Took a slow cooker which was great to come home to a cooked chilli after a long walk....

We stayed in Can Brow at the beginning of September 2016. It really is a cozy cottage especially with the fire crackling away. The kitchen is well equipped although we found the dishwasher a bit temperamental, the bed was good quality as was the bedding. What let things down for us was the mouldy sealant around the bath and the...

We love Graythwaite. We've stayed there previously and this time we stayed in Hullet Hall, on the lake. Wonderful location, truly magical. However, as lovely as the old cottage is, it lacked a few of the things. Safety was an issue in the bathroom. It has 2 bathrooms (one of those ensuite). Both have baths with showers overhead. Neither had...

Thankyou for your feedback, we too find Hullet to be in a most wonderful location. Hullett is due to be closed in November for the main bathroom to be refurbed and a full size shower unit will be replacing the bath along with the bathroom floors being fitted with Karndene. We are having new carpets fitted on the stairs and...

We have been to Graythwaite on 5 occasions prior to our latest 2016 holiday. We were so looking forward to our return trip this summer having not been since 2007 (when our rating would have been excellent!). Unfortunately our return trip was disappointing to say the least. The cottage needed a lot of attention as it felt dirty and needed...

We are very sorry that your return trip to Graythwaite did not meet your expectations. The Sandys family have owned Graythwaite for in excess of 500 years and pride themselves on the high standards of the estate and the holiday cottages. It would be most helpful if you could get in touch to let me know which cottage you stayed...

The cottages are in a peaceful location. Lovely setting and nice walks. My daughter loved having a swimming pool on the doorstep. We stayed in Briar, a three bed cottage , which accepts dogs. The standard of accommodation was good, with an open fireplace, so u can snuggle up on sofa in the evening. You can buy the logs and...
