Day two of our C2C walk and it was nice to arrive at this establishment after a challenging day on the trail.Service was good and the rooms very clean and welcoming. Food served in the main bar was tasty and filling. Had the English breakfast prior to setting off on the next days adventure and again very nice with usual...

Arrived here soaked after walking over Dent Hill, received a warm welcome from a hotel that was well organised for walkers and had a great drying room. Our clothes and boots were bone dry the next morning. We arrived early and were allowed into our room straight away. Restaurant had an extensive menu and the food was very good.

Welcoming staff, large comfortable clean room. Meals were perfect after a long day and the lunch provided the next day for walkers one of the best with the kitchen staff providing for our dietary requirements. Recommended stay for a break on the coast to coast.

Stayed in the lovely village of Ennerdale Bridge for two nights while doing the Coast to Coast in a leisurely fashion. Our room was nicely furnished, comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful. As guests we automatically had a table reserved for us for dinner. Dinner also good, typical pub fare. Wifi was...

Visited for lunch everyone had the cumberland sausage and mash. Portions arrived not generous. with 1 missing. So left 1 person waiting to eat. We clearly told the member of staff with the black hair and beard we wanted 1 children's portion only with an extra plate as we explained they would not eat everything. Staff brought 2 kids portions...

As most others, we were doing the C2C and we stayed at the Shepherds Arms for the second time. It has improved considerably following our visit back in 2011 and we really enjoyed our stay here in July 2016. Very friendly staff & management with a special mention to the lovely breakfast team - enjoyed the real ale too and...

The proprietors at this establishment are top notch! We were hiking across the north of England in July 2016 and several of our group had toe blisters. The proprietor provided vital supplies to help us manage the blisters. And it was GREATLY appreciated that they allowed one of our party to check in early for much needed recuperation. The room...

This is not a very smart place but it is ideal for walkers (we stayed for a night doing on the Coast to Coast path). Good beer, friendly staff and (from the specials menu when we were there) a stunning fillet steak – one of the best. If you are after luxury look elsewhere, but for somewhere which welcomes you...

My family & I visited the pub for a meal (during the day). As a vegan I sometimes struggle to find somewhere that can cater to my needs, I was therfore astounded to see 3 clearly marked vegan main course choices on the menu & a vegan pudding. I would like to congratulate the management & chef for catering to...

The rooms in this hotel were comfortable and beautifully decorated. Everything was clean and the decor was to a high standard, especially the bathroom. I couldn't hear my neighbours, as can sometimes be the case, even though the hotel was full, and the village is so quiet at night that even though my room was facing the road I wasn't...
