I wanted to support this community rescued Camra listed pub so enjoyed a good pint of Ennerdale brewery bitter one lunchtime but my visit was ruined by a girl of about 5 running wildly throughout the bar and pool room shouting and screaming at the top of her voice. What appeared to be her grand parents made no attempt to... More

Stopped in Ennerdale for three nights, we were going to eat in here , but given the fct the staff who were not busy at all, did not have any conversational skills or were not willing to engage we decided not to. The beer was very good however and well served with a good selection and a nice roaring fire.... More

A calming place to re-engerise after walking a around beautiful Ennerdale Water. This is not a Michelin starred gastropub but does serve honest food in a traditional setting. The staff were friendly and this definitely a dog friendly pub. Local ales from Ennerdale brewery went down fine too. Don't come here if you're expecting food cooked by the new superstar... More

We were here for Sunday lunch today and the bar staff were lovely. However, any chef worth his salt would know not to cut beef with the grain. We had to ask for steak knives to cut the beef which did not help the enjoyment in any way. In the end we asked for a doggie bag but sadly our... More

We had a great lunch at the Fox and Hounds this week. Situated in the heart of Ennerdale Bridge, the pub has a lovely atmosphere and a good selection of local beers including two from the nearby Ennerdale Brewery. Food was good pub fare, great for all the family. The pub also has a beer garden by the river if... More

Staff generally friendly and competent The room was large and comfortable. There was s bath and plenty of hot water.Food in the bar was good.Puddings very good. Breakfast was poor. Very limited buffet. Horrible coffee. Terrible juice . Poor quality sausage and bacon. Scrambled eggs with sage(?) added . Rubbery and tasted very odd. Packet sliced bread .

This was a late booking but Chris could not have been more helpful. I was disappointed with my evening meal, I don't think the fishcakes were home-made but my husband was very pleased with his steak and ale pie. The breakfast and packed lunch the following day made up for it though. Comfortable room and they were very welcoming to... More

A friendly, community run pub with good accommodation and good food and beer. Disappointed that there was no single occupany room rate and we were charged the full rate even though the person on their own only has one breakfast. As our party of 5 had all eaten dinner in the bar along with 2 friends from elsewhere and put... More
