Nice place for C2C. It seems off the path but it really is not. Good size rooms and bathrooms. Clean. Odd that the shower area has a very low ceiling. Pub downstairs for dinner. No TV, Wifi and packed lunches available. Very nice breakfast. Quiet once pub closes. Service no so good in pub. Only two people working bar and...

First time back at the Langstrath after a couple of years and pleased to report it was so much better this time. Good welcome, good beer, good food and a very enjoyable stay. Staff were friendly and helpful and we were well looked after. Will stay again.

Online menu offered 3 courses at a certain price, however upon eating there last Sunday there was only one Sunday option and that was Beef. No 3 courses option as stated online and the staff weren't aware of this. The menu given didn't reflect that of the online one, It was beautiful but the children aged 6 and 2 favourite...

Dear Mad_bird35 I am sincerely sorry that you were disappointed in not having a 3 course lunch though rather surprised as it's something we have never offered. We stayed here on 2 July when walking the Coast to Coast. It was the most expensive place we stayed at and we were not impressed. I agree that walkers are not catered for here. We arrived at about 2pm on just about the hottest day of the year. We were told, somewhat triumphantly, that the room was not ready...

Dear Lindi W I can only apologise most sincerely that you felt unwelcomed by a member of our staff which marred your stay with us. A little disturbed if you were told check-in is 4pm as it's actually 3pm if not before should the rooms be ready prior to and breakfast is served anytime between 8am and 9am so again...

The Langstrath has one of the best possible locations in the country. Borrowdale is THE most beautiful place in England. A warm welcome, charming staff. Excellent food. Rooms were very basic. Comfy beds and hot water. However even in the summertime this hotel is cold, and the owner clearly does not want to spend any money on heating. It was...

Dear fcmk 1 We are pleased you enjoyed this beautiful valley and appreciated our home cooked food and great staff, thank you. With regard to the heating if only you had asked we would have willingly put it on for you. I hope you will understand that during a spell of very warm weather it's difficult to gauge guests comfortability...

As we do a lot of camping (not glamping) we often look for treats for ourselves usually consisting of quality ales and food and more often than not you get one or the other. So we were more than happy when both boxes were ticked with this excellent find. A nice short walk from chapel farm campsite (a very good...

We enjoyed the evening meal which was a cut above some others on the Coast to Coast, but the hotel is not really aimed at walkers. If we had arrived soaking wet alongside other walkers I'm not sure they would have coped. The room was fine.

The restaurant has a large shady patio area across the narrow street that is a wonderful rest stop on the C2C. We ate supper inside sampling the vegetable lasagna, tomato and bean soup and fruit crumble. Service was extremely slow, best to order at the bar and ask for a pitcher of water. The restaurant was understaffed and the specials...

During our Coast to Coast walk we spent one night at this hotel and ate in the restaurant that night. The room was well equipped and very clean. Food in the restaurant was excellent with a good choice of items which were all well presented. The only real downside were the prices which seemed rather steep. All in all a...

We stopped at this small hotel because it is in an excellent location for Coast to Coast walkers. The bedroom and bathroom en suite were immaculately clean. The small drying cupboard was good enough to dry your socks over night! The evening meal and breakfast were good. We were able to order a packed lunch.
